We visited Tantalus Estate during our trip to Waiheke Island and I have to say we were amazed by how beautiful the place was, INSIDE OUT. And when I say that I mean everything was perfect: from their customers service quality, to the food, and how nicely the restaurant is built. They clearly put the satisfaction of the customers to their top priority and they make sure you will have a wonderful experience at their place. Professional, friendly and thoughtful staffs. Excellent food display skill and mouthwatering taste. Breathtaking view on the vineyard and around the outdoor dining area. Tantalus Estate is one of the must-visit restaurants on Waiheke Island in my opinion because after you leave the place, you’ll remember how welcoming they were, how extremely delicious the food was, and how well-loved they made you feel. That’s what makes this place stand out and stay in your heart for a long period of time. P/s: Thank you for treating my dog so well, he told me he loves you all x

I've been dining all around the world (not bragging) and this is one of my favourite experiences. Excellent relaxed and friendly service and every single bite of food was divine. Had a little walk around the amazing estate before the dessert which made us digest the beautiful food and wine. Went with my fiance, father and his wife and it is a dining experience we will always remember. Thank you!

We recently were married at Tantalus Estate. The team from start to finish were absolutely incredible and I wish we could do it all again just simply because it was so wonderful!! One day wasn’t enough!! Thank you Trish and Carrie for your care of us from the start of planning and on the day. I felt so supported, we were in the best of hands and our guests had an amazing time, describing it as the most beautiful venue they had ever been to. 5-stars +++

During our visit to Waiheke we were looking for nice lunch and some wine and decided for the Tantalus Estate. The vineyard is really beautifully made on top of a small hill with all the vine surrounding the main building. Lunch menu sounds amazing but as we were just interested in a light bite the tomato salad was our choice together with a nice barique white wine. Great combination and this Estate is a recommendation even if you are looking for more to eat than just a light bite. Saying that the wine is definitely well made but pricy for what you get and you pay for the origin for sure….. but this is for sure a personal opinion.

Opens at 11 (which is earliest in that area with multiple wineries). Beautiful winery inside out. Only had time for a tasting and had the reserve tasting and the wines were super yummy. Chardonnay and Syrah (with a bit of Viognier) were beautiful to drink. Want to return for restaurant and more wine in the future (we didn't have much time today)

Highlights: Fresh oysters 🦪 Pork belly 🐷 Eye fillet 🥩 The dessert was yummy too (can’t remember what it was but it’s pictured). The sauce for the fish dish was a tad salty for our liking. There was also small bone fragments but we can understand it is difficult to extract it all. Just need to be careful when eating. Overall a great experience even on a rainy day. Just relax, enjoy the food and wine 🍷

What a fantastic experience!! We had the most charming waitress Laura who really looked after us!! We had the Trust the Chef menu which was a 8-course degustation menu, every course was perfect with wine pairing. 3 hours well spent!! The food was just delicious with layers of flavors and well presented. I was delightfully comatosed by the time I got home!!

Arrived at Tantalus via the hop on hop off bus. We enjoyed the beautiful view of the vineyard. The items on the drink menu we had were the beer tasting paddle and wine estate tasting. Out of pinot gris was my go to. Ordered the truffle fries and a cheese platter. Both of them were delicious and served as a great way to snack on while having a conversation. Great place to celebrate a birthday and to enjoy the company of your loved ones.

We visited this beautiful vineyard today. Very lucky to have met the owner, who was so friendly and affable, got us a table even they were busy with a wedding event later in the day. Everyone was so helpful and we were totally blown away with the presentation & taste of the food. Wine, of course not forgetting the wine. Their reserved and Cachette white wine were so good that we shipped some home. Can”r wait to share them with our friends.

Truly one of the best dining experiences my husband & I have ever had, and we have been to our fair share of nice restaurants -- the breathtaking views from our table, the friendly staff, the Michelin star quality food, the dietary accommodations (I'm vegetarian, and my husband is severely allergic to all nuts), and let's not forget the wine. Truly divine. We will be back!

We only had time for 3 wineries and this was by far the most welcoming, best service team (Felix & a young lady) as well as the best food! We will definitely be back and will be telling anyone that does the hop on & off tour to go straight to Tantalus.

Wonderful dining experience. The food is cooked to perfection. We chose the a la carte menu instead of the “chef’s specials” for more flexibility. The snapper is so tender and fresh. The service is exceptional. The matching wines are served right on time for each course. The surrounding scenery is as idyllic as it can be, like a scene in a movie. There are many nice restaurants on the island. This is one of the best if not the best.

Fantastic service, food and location. It had been a while since visiting Tantalus and it was better than ever. Five of us all had something different and every dish was a winner. Thanks for a great afternoon and the personal attention.

Lovely place for dining! Opted for 'Trust the Chef' along with matching wines. Staff are friendly and the information for each plate and glass are both informative and intriguing. I especially enjoyed learning about the tartrate crystals as well as the small bits of history woven into the wine selection.

The lamb and beef mains just melts in your mouth! Paired perfectly with a sav and beer flight from the brewery downstairs. Love how the vines in the chandeliers are a tribute to the old winery. Superb.

Simply the best, in terms of a wine and food experience. Very classy yet relaxed and friendly, professional. Very nice to meet owner Campbell and Alex the winemaker. What lovely people. Didn't get to the brewery but I can only imagine that too would be an excellent experience. Highly recommended.

We had a delicious lunch for four at this beautiful vineyard restaurant where you can eat inside or outside looking over their garden and the vines. The menu was varied and interesting and the food tasted fresh and delicious and looked like works of art. The service was excellent too. A couple of negatives - the helicopter comes and goes and is very noisy and distracting. And the truffle/parmesan chips which I usually love did not seem to be flavoured with truffle this time but had a truffle dipping sauce instead which was not nearly as good. Overall though a great experience and I would recommend it. It is a bit pricey but go there for a special occasion.

We came for lunch and ended up doing the Trust the Chef tasting with one wine pairing (appreciated that they let us share one). The meal, service, aesthetic, wine were all exceptional. They accommodated our dietary preferences, service was attentive but not pretentious, and the food was the best we’ve yet to have in NZ. Wine was wonderful too of course. Don’t miss it! A true highlight.

The most refined meal we had on the island and in a genuinely stunning setting. We both had the paired wines with the set menu which was really delicious. One of the highlights of the trip and definitely worth seeing

Thank you Wendy for making our day so memorable! We definitely enjoyed our wine tasting experience with Tantalus. The cheese board is recommended to pair with all the beautiful wines they offered! One of the best winery in Waiheke. 🥰

What can I say that hasn’t already been said? A must go! The wines are fantastic and the food is phenomenal. I love the outdoor setting to enjoy the meal. I dined and wine tasted by myself, and I felt very welcomed by both Claire and Monica. I was given a choice seat to enjoy the view while having lunch. They’re not kidding when they say to make a reservation-they were fully booked on the day I went.

What an elegantly designed vine estate! The architecture embraces the beautiful Waiheke nature and the interior has abundant natural light with sliding glass doors. Without cellar doors of standing experience, we enjoyed a couple of wine drinking in the beautiful sunroom.

We went to Tantalus to celebrate our 1st day honeymooning in Waiheke. The experience we had was sensational. We were served by Tal who was so lovely and always checked up on us and how the meals were. We had the ''Trust the chef'' menu with 7 courses. We enjoyed every single thing in that course! We also added the crayfish roll and the Tyee salmon aged for 40 months, and both additional meals did not disappoint! Although, we had to stay for over 3 hours as this was a 7 meal course and there was a lag in between dishes, but this was acceptable as it helped digest the food a bit 😅 and it was peak hour (something to keep in mind if you have other things planned for the afternoon). The views around the vineyard was astonishing as well. This is a fine dining experience, so be prepared for a hefty meal price 😂. Lastly, do keep in mind to book beforehand.

Just wanted to pop a little positive feedback in to praise the lovely staff (and especially the manager on site) at Tantalus in helping us with our wedding pack in in the weekend. It was torrential rain ,no ferries, emergency helicopter in and many changes to the timeliness. They could not have been more kind, professional and helpful.Thank you so much . I will be recommending you to all my couples wanting to marry on Waiheke. Kindest , Sue , Floral Stylist Co.

The wine tasting experience is extraordinary. The staff who served us is so knowledgeable. He introduced each wine in detail and answered all of our questions very well. We love this restaurant's decoration and atmosphere. We had a good time there.

Exceeded expectations. We had the Chefs Choice 6 course dinner for a table of 6. It was perfect. Such a great selection of food, each dish that came out was tasty, well thought out and gorgeous presentation. The atmosphere was stunning and the service was exceptional. We will be back for sure. Great night.

Exceptional meal and service. From the time we arrived and were seated by the lovely owner, to the incredible 5 course lunch and awesome service we were thrilled with Tantalus and all had such a fun time. We had we the most amazing lunch and look forward to coming back again. This is a must visit restaurant and vineyard on the island. To the chef and the kitchen team: Stunning food and presentation you really outdid yourself!

Stopped for a wine tasting which we highly recommend. We were on ebikes and they have bike stands right by the main path. The knowledge of the wine, the island and energy from our server was great. Delicious wine, would like to come back to try their food.

Brilliant venue in the heart of Waiheke. No ocean views but you get a lovely view of the surrounding vineyards and it’s one of the only places on Waiheke where it doesn’t feel like you’re on an island. We didn’t have a booking and the restaurant was fully booked, but we were able to sit in the sunroom area. The host was lovely, great conversation and added to a great day. Food was phenomenal, even though we only had the bar menu. Coffee is locally sourced (I.e on the island) and we even got to witness a proposal. Will be returning.

A really beautiful restaurant with a romantic feel. Did the “trust the chef” which was really excellent and interesting. Felt the food was delicious and well judged. Staff were friendly but sadly didn’t know the menu or the drinks list which I think is a little week. Also felt a bit rushed - by nine the staff were loudly cleaning and sorting cutlery and we’d been rushed through every course.

Second time going here and it absolutely didn't disappoint! Oysters were to die for and the food was superb. (Not on the menu but the Bloody Marys are life changing - I am still dreaming about them). The staff were so friendly and attentive, the setting feels like you have teleported to Italy. 10/10 Recommend , it is 100% the best winery and dining on Waiheke Island. You must go here !
