Friends
dragged
me
here
to
ride
the
river
but
I
had
no
idea
there
was
a
hike
involved.
The
hike
starts
with
a
steep
descent
through
a
bunch
of
paper
bark
trees
where
you
use
their
roots
as
steps,
it's
very
steep.
After
that,
you
walk
along
a
root-covered
trail
(be
careful
not
to
roll
your
ankle
like
I
did)
through
the
forest
having
to
duck
under
and
climb
over
fallen
trees
several
times.
We
went
around
the
trail
counter-clockwise
and
about
1/3
through
there's
a
really
cool
river
crossing
where
someone
has
a
little
taro
farm
growing.
After
that
there's
a
long
hike
up
and
down
steep
hills
covered
in
tree
roots,
there's
lots
of
places
to
rest
at
least.
At
the
halfway
point
of
the
trail
there's
a
path
that
leads
down
to
the
river,
that's
what
we
did,
it's
extremely
steep
and
the
tree
roots
mostly
are
gone
for
this
part,
there's
a
lot
of
sliding
down
steep
hills
on
your
butt
because
there's
nothing
to
grab
onto.
The
river
itself
isn't
great
for
floating
down
because
about
half
of
the
river
is
so
shallow
you
have
to
get
up
and
walk
across
slippery
rocks,
at
least
in
June
it's
that
shallow.
Still
fun
and
beautiful
though.
