We was booked in for 8pm, got sat str8 away and told no turkey. When we went up to get served, the chef was no where to be seen. Waited about 5 mins before anyone came out from kitchen. We could hear arguing in back aswell. Very unprofessional. There was hardly any gammon. I don't eat beef so it was gammon and pork for me. There was no roasties and hardly any veg. Counter top looked like it not been cleaned all day. Peas were hard as was the carrots. The wholegrain mustard was absolutely vile. Never tasted anything so awful in my life and I have wholegrain mustard at home. The waiting staff were brilliant. Couldn't fault that side of it. All in all, food wasn't a pleasant experience

Called one evening after a bike ride, good value, and plentiful food, don't know how long it had been stood though, veg a bit soft for me. The place was empty yet it took an age for drinks to arrive. Asked what happened to leftover meat, it was nearly closing time and there was half a large turkey left, told it goes in the bin! I hope staff get to take it. EDIT As I cannot reply directly to responses I will do that here: You have failed to address my individual points: - How long does food stand? especially when quiet? - What happens to food at the end of the night? - It wasn't an overly negative experience, I was with friends, so we chatted, but the drinks (3 pints of pop), did take a long time! - The food is tasty, plentiful and cheap, just the veg a bit soft for me, see question about standing food. - for the price, and the fact it's a chain, it was fine, hence the 3 stars, which I think is a fair reflection. - Supposing I come back, which I may, as a friend likes a huge plate full, how do you propose to turn the experience around? pot luck or shall I wear a name badge/introduce myself?

Good prices, nice staff, and good food. My only gripes are the same as they are with any Toby Carveries, the peas often seem overly mushy, and unless you're lucky and get there when new meat is brought out, it can definitely be a bit dry, which wouldn't be too bad, but my last visit there was no gravy left either! Other than that, good selection of food, desserts are amazing, nice choice of drinks, soft and alcoholic, and the atmosphere is often relaxed enough.

Had a carvery lunch, meat was lovely we had turkey, ham and beef all cooked well, the turkey was really good. Good selection of vegetables and meal was enjoyed. The drink and mini pud is great for the smaller appitite. Staff were friendly and helpful. The only thing we noticed was the site inside and out is looking tired, overall though good value.

Bought my mum for lunch on Wednesday. We were met at the door by a lovely chap with grey hair who’s name escapes me. The food was lovely but what made the experience for me was the service from our waitress Hayley. She was very patient with my mum who has dementia and talked with her whilst I snuck off to the carvery meaning I could get our meals without worrying about my mum. We will definitely be back as there isn’t many places I feel are so welcoming, accommodating and safe for my mum and I to go to together

Me and my friend called in this evening without booking. We were told that the restaurant was fully booked until 8pm. We went to leave when the gentleman at the front of house called us back and said he could squeeze us in. The service was brilliant. The staff were so polite, helpful and friendly. James was our waiter and he was great. I would highly recommend a visit.

The table staff were very good. They asked if we knew the process and left us with our menus. Drinks arrived quickly. The food was lovely; meat freshly carved - albeit quite thinly - good selection of meats and vegetables. I noticed the servers regularly attending to the veg to ensure it didn't dry out under the lamps. Veg was well cooked, not mushy, and quite hot. Bill quickly sorted too. One slight issue was room was very warm, probably due to our seating in close proximity to serving station. Can't be helped would ask to be seated elsewhere in future. Only a slight issue.

I visited Toby Carvery in Wakefield today for breakfast with my mum and my sister. We was cutting it fine trying to grab an all you can eat breakfast just a few mins before they stopped serving to change over for the carvery. But Chloe who greeted us at the door and then promptly took our order to allow us to grab the last of breakfast was super helpful and really accommodating. It was even left out a little longer for us by the chef Dale, who again was super lovely and really welcoming. He was full of great conversation, ace recommendations and has clear passion for his role at Toby Carvery. It was super nice to see. I used to be a manager in hospitality for 8 years so moments like these really don’t go unnoticed by me. It’s refreshing. Who knew a Yorkshire pudding with bacon and onion in was a thing!! All in all, great team, great environment and would definitely come back!

Good food, excellent manager, great chefs. But the service, the service managed to take an otherwise delightful meal and make it worth 2 stars. Our waitress was, and I never say this, incompetent we waited 15 minutes for 2 glasses. Following our meal it took 15 minutes for the waitress who was stood a mere 2 meters away to take away our plates, on the same hand we then had to wait 35 minutes for our bill. Considering we were clearly ready to pay, through our previous interactions, It was quite annoying when trying to make contact with this lady and being blatantly ignored while trying not to mention that it wasn’t a busy service. Saying this all previous visits have been wonderful with good attentive staff and this experience hasn’t changed our opinion and will surely be back. It was just deeply disappointing with the service we were provided on this occasion.

We got a lovely warm welcome as we arrived and considering just how busy it was, we were seated in no time at all. Our server James was attentive, yet without being intrusive. The carvery was excellent, a good variety of meats to choose from, plenty of hot and properly cooked veg, and they don't scrimp on the the portion sizes either! What's not to love?

Had Sunday lunch today 27 11 2022. Very good food, except parsnips need peeling blanching n deep frying or roasting. Too big n still very hard. Everything else was great! Staff very nice n pub lay out very good. Good experience thank you

Had a brilliant Sunday lunch here and could not fault the service and food we received. Had a brilliant time and really enjoyed my first experience of a Toby Carvery. Thank you for making a birthday celebration a happy memory and I will definitely be recommending to family and friends.

We are regular visitors to the Wakefield Toby Carvery and left reviews once or twice, however after tonight’s visit I must mention how fantastic the meal was. The place was packed due to the 50% vouchers but the staff were fantastic. We were served by Caitlin and what a wonderful young girl she was. Whilst dealing with a large table in the back room, she never forgot about us and was very attentive. The carver Charlie was doing an amazing job with how busy he was but still had time to be polite and smile at every customer. The veg was all fresh and piping hot and topped up numerous times whilst we were in the queue. Roman was very warm and welcoming too when showing us to our table. Beautiful meal as always. Cheers! See you again soon

Our carvery was lovely and carved by Charlie who was really friendly as was Cassie our server. It was our first time at this location and we were made to feel very welcome. The other diners were just as friendly and the food and drinks were up to the high standards you would expect although very reasonable in price. There is plenty of parking and it's definitely worth booking online as this appears to be a popular location. We will hope to visit again very soon.

Everything was absolutely excellent. From the welcome at the door, being taken to our table. Lovely attentive table staff. To a fantastic Carvery which had everything your heart could desire. All fresh and not dried out under the warming lights. Again the servers were courteous and lovely. Then after enjoying a 5* Carvery came the piece de resistance the Desert. I had the profiteroles a great choice, it was truly Scrumptious. So far 10/10. The only negative was due to timing and a technical error with the payment terminals. You had to pay at the bar till. Which was manned by one lovely lady / manager. Hence it took 15 minutes to pay the bill. Overall still 10/10 for a wonderful meal and service. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

We are regular visitors to Toby, they cannot be beat for value in either meal price or meal quality. The restaurant is the best managed business that we frequent. And we eat out a lot. The team at Wakefield are as good as you get. Well managed, friendly, helpful, the restaurant ticks all the boxes. Love the place.

Went in for a breakfast - good prices, and good food. A couple of items were a little slow in being replenished, but hey that just means they're busy and it was only a short wait. The fried eggs swimming in oil, was not great as it means they go extra greasy as they cool. Really good sausages though, not the reality cheapy rusk filled stuff you get at most breakfast places around this price point... Will be back again.

Whilst on a Sunday afternoon ride out, we spontaneously decided to call somewhere for Sunday Lunch. We found this Toby Carvery nearby and pre-booked online to ensure there would be a table available for us. To our surprise, we were able to book a table for half an hour later! When we arrived, we were greeted warmly and shown to the bar area to wait for our table. It wasn’t long before we were shown to our seats and we were soon tucking into a delicious carvery! We really enjoyed our visit and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be back! Thank you!

Went for a carvery mid week at 7.30pm and it appeared that no-one in the kitchen was making sure everything was being held at 65 degrees or above. Some of it wasn't even tepid. Didn't want to complain as I wasn't the bill payer. Nearly asked if they could stick it in the microwave. Shame really as the staff waiting the tables and greeting did a wonderful job.

Food was gorgeous however, we were sat at our table for an hour and was never approached by any of the servers. We waited 15 minutes to order drinks just to go over to the bar to buy them ourselves. The only interaction we had from the staff was to sit at our table and to get the bill (which we had to ask for). We watched other tables around us get the service we all pay for, but we were ignored.

We were impressed with the young man that served us at the bar. He was very polite and courteous, very chatty and lovely. Well-done young man your employer should be very proud of you and your customer service. The toilets were dated but exceptionally clean.

All staff were very welcoming, especially the guy who greeted us and got us a table sorted even though we didn't have a booking. The service and atmosphere has been the best since the last time we came, when it was under old management. Definitely be coming back again for sure.

Really lovely food and plenty of it. Wanted the veggie option which arrived quickly so I could still eat with my family. Everything clean and well organised and staff were perfect balance of nice and friendly without being in your face.

The Carvery is always spot on, don’t think I’ve ever had a bad experience here. The meat man holds a special place in my heart as he always seems to give me excellent cuts and more than he does my mrs 😂 never leave the place hungry I can guarantee that. Hangover cured. 5 stars. Excellent service and food.

Visited today after having a reservation for a week as was informed that it was reservation only due to a staffing issue, when we arrived there was plenty of tables available but people were being refused if they had not booked which I find unreasonable. Gave 5 stars due to the quality of the food and pleasantness of the staff.

Lovely food, excellent service, cheerful friendly staff. We were also found a suitable table as we had a baby in a pushchair. Tables are cleaned thoroughly ready for the next customers. Looking forward to my next Sunday roast there......

Very polite and helpful staff. We both had a carvery and little ones under 3 get a little plate free. My little boy loved every bit. Staff carried food to our table and checked on us but not too much! Will definitely be visiting again.

Excellent place. Carvery always good and hot, not like some other local places. Even get you a window table if you ask nice or ring up and book. Highly recommended.

Stayed in Leeds overnight and decided to get breakfast here rather than pay over the odds at the hotel. Been to a Toby Carvery before and knew what to expect. Lovely staff to book us in. There wasn't alot of selection at this branch though. No tomatoes or even scrambled eggs. The toaster was turned down so low that you HAD to put your bread through x2 for it would resemble toast. A metal plate was put over the top of the dials so you couldn't adjust the browning. Other than that, the place was clean and staff was very helpful.

Ordered on ubereats a kingsize breakfast meal deal for delivery, got 1 pork sausage mushed up hash browns, No egg, 4 bits of mushrooms, 2 rashers of bacon which were cold when got and dry, the most tightest portion of beans and tomatoes, won't be ordering from here again, if I could give 0 stars I would but couldn't. What your meant to get... 3 pork sausages Hash browns 2 eggs 4 rashers of bacon Baked beans Tomatoes and a hit drink The drink was ok Picture of what your supposed to get

Myself my husband, daughter and two granddaughters visited for our dinner, the staff are always welcoming and friendly. They were very helpful to my daughter who is blind, whenever we go the staff always do their best to make sure she is sat at a table that gives her easy access to both the carvery and the bathroom

We love that they can manage our big family party, every time. Nothing we ask seems to faze them, they are friendly and courteous. As always the food is magnificent and plenty of it. Highly recommended this place.
