Absolutely amazing food and great staff too. We had the sharing platter as a starter and be warned it is huge. Absolutely gorgeous but definitely don't order mains as well if you aren't big eaters. The only disappointment was the cake! We ordered a malteser cake but it was just rich chocolate cake with a couple of maltesers on top and it was also very dry. You can take the cakes to go but desert is eat in only. Service is quick and they are very attentive. We will definitely go again.

Went for dinner last night. Service was absolutely perfect, lovely staff and speedy service. Food was absolutely delicious. We both mixed and matched from the main menu & the specials menu and we were accommodated perfectly. Atmosphere was lovely for a Monday evening and the price was very reasonable. Would recommend to anyone.

Last night we had a lovely meal at The Twisted Tree near Castleford. It had been recommended to us and had great reviews. The welcome we had on arrival was very warm, we were invited to sit inside our outside (seemed rude but to, while the sun was shining) and chose from the extensive drinks menu. I think the only thing missing was a Guinness, sadly, so we both had a Brewdog Vagabond, gluten free beer... lovely! We both chose new vegan options, a mixed vegetable salad and chips, with a chick pea, spinach and sweet potato curry with sweet potato fries. Wow... Wonderful food, especially the curry was really fantastic. Unfortunately we were too full for dessert, but managed to take some gluten free and dairy free cake home for the girls! An amazing evening, lovely atmosphere, great drinks, exceptional food, and all in a unique and surprising characterful restaurant between Castleford and the M62! We'll be back!

This was the second time I’ve been lucky enough to eat at The Twisted Tree. The first time was great and we went at lunch time. It was busy but they accommodated our family of four. We sat outside the first time in the tent but this time we came in the evening and were able to sit inside. I absolutely love the decor and the ambient lighting makes the dining room feel really intimate and special. It’s got a rustic feel to it with all of the wood and each table is different which really adds character. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. It was a special evening for me as I was meeting up with my two childhood best friends who I haven’t been out with since covid first hit. The menu is small yet has something for everyone and I always respect a restaurant that has a simple menu because you know that those dishes are ones that the chef is going to cook well. I have found that a huge menu always leaves too much room for mistakes and chaos in a kitchen. I’d rather a chef be able to focus on just a few delicious dishes and make those dishes superb. Which is exactly what we got. I ordered the Cajun Salmon which is super tasty. It comes on a bed of boiled rice with some red peppers and mango on the side and the flavors of the Cajun seasoning with the sweetness of the mango is so delicious. If you have a sweet tooth like me, they have a mouthwatering dessert menu. Because the Cajun salmon is quite a light dish, I definitely had a bit of room left over for a slice of Honeycomb Cheesecake. This is a must try if you enjoy cheesecake! It’s so tasty and worth the wait! Overall I would say that The Twisted Tree is a lovely little restaurant with plenty of tables without feeling over crowded. The atmosphere is perfect and the food, staff and location is great. We will definitely be back, next time maybe for brunch! Oh and I almost forgot, they have a shop called Twisted Vintage in the other half of the building (which used to be an old pub!) It is a really whimsical gift shop with all sorts of great home decor stuff, scarves, aprons, jewelry, seasonal decorations, greetings cards etc etc. Definitely worth a look if you’re eating there during the daytime!

Thankyou for a wonderful afternoon tea with a bit of a twist. The sandwiches are presented on 'rounds' of sliced baguette with a different topping on each. They are served on wooden chopping boards and beautifully presented. This works better than traditional sandwiches because you can really taste the delicious toppings. The scones come with a little iron pans of clotted cream & strawberry jam. Unlimited tea & coffee throughout! And the cakes are yummy. Really great. Xxx

The food here is excellent, as is the service. Whether it's a delicious breakfast, sandwich lunch, afternoon tea or gastro style evening meal you're after you won't be disappointed. Booking a table is a must as are the chunky chips.

I found this little cafe on Google and we visited here to break up our journey for a two night stay away so pleased we booked a table in advance it was fabulous fresh food and lovely friendly staff! Cakes are wonderful can taste the freshness and wish could return more often! Throughly recommend!! :-)

Excellent food and a very enjoyable experience overall. The attached Twisted Vintage gift shop is also worth a look. We look forward to going back some time.

Wow, the twisted tree had amazing decor and fantastic food, the staff had great fitting clothes and shiny face masks, lamb shank and honeycomb cheesecake to die for, the lady that served me was extremely beautiful prob uses an amazing face cream because her face was youthful and very smooth.

Had afternoon tea for two, was very nice small selection of sandwiches followed by a nice selection of sweets. And tea for two, not cheap but a nice treat for a special occasion.

Cafe Vida transformed to evening dining and what a great idea, too many cafe's round Castleford. With the revamp of Carlton st Vida has put itself in the market for great food within the new bespoke bars and on going drinking around Castleford. All home made food on site with new Chef along with Sandro & Michelle, the focus is Italian menu with various options to choose from. I chose filetta steak pizza with wife choosing chicken pasta dish, tasted fab 😋 this is a licensed premise in all a great evening experience. Not had the Sunday lunch yet but if this is anything to go by It won't be long, good luck and see you soon thanks Neil

Had another lovely meal at Vida tonight Italian was delicious and deserts yum yum ! ! Staff so very friendly and so efficient nothing too much for them . Very highly recommended! ! ! Go try Vida and keep all the small businesses trading you won’t be disappointed! !

The wait for drinks is terrible. People who are getting take out drinks are a lot quicker than those sitting in. You can wait up to 25 mins for a cold drink.

Had a good time and a nice meal last night to celebrate a friends leaving work do. The food is reasonable both in flavour and price. We sat outside in the marquee. The restaurant inside is small but cosy. Parking can be tight in the busy car park but on road parking is available. Service was good, timely and friendly staff. Overall a nice evening out but take a jumper don't rely on the August British weather to be warm 🤣

The Twisted Tree is a fabulous gem  of a restaurant!  The food was simply sensational. I can heartily recommend the mushrooms on toast and the delicious carrot cake! The Bailey's coffee was to die for. However, the icing on the cake was the excellent quality of the service. The waitresses were friendly, professional and very helpful. One of them enthused us with her passion for tea and the range of teas she has at home. Thank you so much... we will definitely be making a return visit to sample some more delights! Joe P

Attended for lunch last week to celebrate my birthday with my friend. We both had a sandwich and shared some onion rings. The sandwich filling was very generous and tasted flavourful. We got ciabatta and the bread was fresh and a decent size. The onion rings portion was also generous and they were proper homemade chunky onion rings. The staff were friendly and competent.

Just returned and have to say, the team is on form, great service and quality ingredients again today 👍 We have been frequent visitors to The Twisted Tree from its launch, and cant believe we hadn’t reviewed yet ! If you want a great breakfast, good lunch, afternoon tea or lovely evening meal it is a great little find, always worth a call to make sure they can fit you in, although the new Garden room has added much needed extra space For breakfast you can’t fault the full English, great quality ingredients and always really well prepared, for lunch I’d recommend the steak sandwich or chicken salad, both are great. We’d also recommend the sharing starter, it’s brilliant at about £16, great choice and lots of different options. The afternoon tea is great value and in our opinion is the best in the area, and simply coffee and a cake can be great if the weather is good Oh yes, one final recommendation, I’d travel miles for the Halloumi fries, simply have to add them to any dish !

First visit here but will definitely be back. Full and varied menu with additional specials board and all 4 of our guests enjoyed their meals immensley. Staff were all so friendly and efficient, a great asset to the beautifully decorated restaurant. Mon to Fri there is a 'special offer' menu where certain starters, mains and all desserts are reduced. Four starters, 4 mains, 2 desserts and 2 bottles of wine came to £105. Amazing value! Recommend that you book as we visited on a Wednesday and it was full.

We've been there numerous times, Lovely choice of food but not quite man sized portions in my opinion, Best going when it's not too busy otherwise you may be waiting a lot longer than you anticipated. We were sat in the side extension near the back door where the waitresses are constantly going in & out we had to endure a cold draught every few minutes, this won't be a problem in summer but when it's chilly it's not much fun 🥶 Their car park isn't that big either so you may have to park down the street, we dropped off our 85yr old relative at the restaurant then had to go & park up 5 minutes away due to it being so busy ( plus the fish shops customers adding to the parking issue )

The food was delicious and it's such a lovely place to dine out in. Only downside was the service. We did feel like we'd been forgotten about especially as another table was getting quite a lot of attention from staff.

Absolutely loved our birthday brunch! The food was delicious, especially the BBQ pork belly - it was so tender and flavorful. The staff were also really friendly and accommodating, which made the whole experience even better :)

The food on our table had mixed reviews unfortunately. I had the Creamy garlic mushrooms for starter which were good but I was disappointed with my main which was the pork belly with leeks and carrot puree. I did ask for no BBQ sauce on my pork however, the pork belly was thin and deep fried which made it quite hard and dry. Even with BBQ sauce on top it wouldn't have changed that. The chips are usually amazing from here but they were a bit overcooked, like really crispy and oily. It wasn't a horrible meal, just a bit of a let down. Having said that, people on our table did love their food. I have been plenty of times before and enjoyed it. Hopefully it was just an off day - it hasn't put me off and I will go and try again.
