It's okay for a store. Nice staff, shame about the crack head outside swearing at police officers. Location not great.

Amazing staff, giving great recommendations and took all the time in the world to advise us on everything we asked for. Quite a lot of the dog beds and crate matts were not in stock so a little short for choice. Otherwise a great place to get all things pets sorted.

Great selection of items for Guinea pigs. My go to place for food and hay. I love how lovely and cool they keep the store for the animals unlike another certain pet shop down the road. Guinea pigs always seem happy and it’s nice to see they have plenty of hides and lots of hay!

A lovely walk round the park . The cafe is dog friendly with plenty of tables and a fantastic selection of food . Also has a couple of shops and farm shop . Plenty of parking available. Attracts quite a few people at the weekend. We'll recommend for a visit.

Went on a Saturday and it was woefully understaffed. All the available staff were on the tills, trying to serve the queue that went halfway down the store, with nobody available to stock shelves or help customers (other than in the aquatic area). I needed flea treatment that was in a locked cabinet, and wasn't able to find anybody to serve me, so ended up having to give up and leave. Management need to organise the rota so there's enough staff to open all the tills and also man the shop floor, especially on a Saturday and so close to Christmas.

It's a nice store, always clean and tidy. The staff are always easy to find and are extremely helpful. If they don't know the answer to your enquiry, they will find out. My only beef is that sometimes the items that I go for are out of stock. I know I could order online, but sometimes I just want to call in. They are popular items, surely they know this so should order more.

Amazing store, so much selection and the staff are very knowledgeable. They went out of their way to help me transition to the best new cat food, even comparing ingredients to the old one and giving very good insight into the brands they stock.

A quick stop off every now and again for wild duck and swan food when I take my daughter to Thornes park. It's great for parking, the staff are friendly and the store seems well stocked.

After waiting a month to have our appointment to come round for our spaniel to have a full groom short shaven as we requested. Then to collect him over 2hrs later to find my boy looks no different and looks like he's just had a trim all for £47 . Not worth the price at all , could have done a better job myself . ( AMATEURS ) IN MY OPINION. Next time will definitely take him to a proper parlour.

Brought a hamster 3 months ago from Barnsley pets at home and told me I needed a large hamster cage then today went to Wakefield pets at home and It says on the large hamster cage for Syrian hamster but the girl with the blue hair told me by law I had to buy a extra large hamster cage for £10 more or she won’t sell the hamster so I went to Barnsley pets at home and ask their advice and she said a large hamster cage is fine would never go to Wakefield pets at home again trying to con me into paying £10 more on a cage I didn’t need

I normally get my dog food from the Dewsbury branch but I haven’t been able to get my food for the last six weeks fortunately the Wakefield branch had the stock Harringtons Adult lamb and rice I also bought other items too the young lady on the tills was very courteous pleasant and helpful unlike the surly staff in Dewsbury thank you for all your help

Like all pets at home stores don't buy anything off the bottom shelf it's most likely been peed on by a dog,but great choice of products for anything pets,

I used to love popping in once a month to pick up my AVA 2x15 kilogram sacks of dry dog food plus a pack of biscuit bones and always a treat for my two dogs but I don't go anymore as I order online from them I get my food delivered within 2 days by DPD with 10% off as a regular order .I do miss popping in but it works out cheaper and less fuss no wonder shops are closing down with internet ordering being cheaper doesn't make sense to me .

Took our dog to the in house vets for a check up. Super friendly staff and good advice given. Reasonably priced for boosters and health check. The dog loved it there!

Very good range but slightly expensive but you're covering staff and building costs but does mean there is advice to hand

Our pooch has kennel cough and he was getting worse. We rang and were able to get an appointment the next evening. You telephone the service when you arrive outside and they ring you back to let you know you can take your pet to the waiting area. The reception staff were very helpful, but were wearing a surgical mask, full screen facial mask and gloves. There were also perspex screens up as well, which I felt was slightly excessive considering you no longer have to wear a mask in shops. The vet was helpful and went through our pets history. He was prescribed some liquid medication and we were charged £35 for the consultation and an amount for the medication.

Staff could've been a bit more helpful - it's an odd way to have customers not able to look at the dish in their respective tanks, etc....

It is so hot today I was worried to take my puppy in but the building was amazing and cool!! Deffo had air con and all the dogs in there were nice and cool! Even I wanted to stay in there all day!! Staff are always helpful and always seem happy even when it’s boiling outside and working weekends! Thank you everyone! My puppy loves it at pets at home (and he loves the attention too!)

Blue Light Card holders beware. Pets at Home Wakefield clearly ask if you have a blue light card. They then say they want to see a work badge which specifically states NHS. Blue Light Card is for anyone in social care and services. The manager here then says they don’t take blue light card but just NHS . When challenged about why are staff asking if they have a blue light card he didn’t know what to say. I phone complaints and even they said they accept blue light. They clearly don’t know what they are talking about. NHS and social services are the same. Why are people so hell bent on NHS when we do the same job?! Discrimination. I’ll start shopping at Jolleys in future for my cat products

Placed a click and collect order on an item where I couldn’t specify the colour I wanted. When I arrived in store I asked what colour I had been given and it wasn't what I wanted so politely asked if I could change it, to which the response was ‘no we don’t have it and I cannot speak with others stores either’ wow. Customer service at its best! Try maybe helping people that come into your store willing to spend money, instead of treating them like c*ap.
