Excellent vegan coffee & brunch place in Wakey. Very dog friendly, they love to see your pooches and treat them to fusses. Food was excellent, gluten free options available. Relaxed atmosphere, you can get coffee & cake to take out too. It's a must visit for anyone vegan in the area.

This was such a good find. Lovely place with a fantastic selection of delicious and beautifully presented vegan food. Great soundtrack too!

I really liked this place, and I do feel Wakefield needs more places like this! Quirky, edgy, and unique. My only criticism is: I ordered the Sweet and Smokey wrap - very nice but the wrap needed that salty/acidic taste to counter the sweetness from the paprika/mayo - thinly sliced pickled gherkins/beetroot would have done the trick. I also got the houmos tortilla chips extra - the houmos was unfortunately tasteless and was missing that kick, which lemon would have offered it. That being said I really enjoyed it here, everything else was spot on, and deserves the five stars.

Throwback mix some of the best coffee in Wakefield with the most positive vibes possible. With a unique musical backing track and some of the friendliest staff around, Throwback is a always on point. Serving and all vegan menu and multiple choices of milk, give it a try, you never know what you're missing.

Im not vegan but I really enjoyed the food. The staff were very friendly and the dishes were great tasting and well presented. Would return happily! Great coffees too!

Sometimes you just want something other than a sandwich for lunch. Really tasty vegan/veggie food. I had the Texan caviar - beans, sweetcorn and coleslaw salad, and blueberry cake to finish. Slightly slow given it was a salad but very nice. Happy to return 😊

I absolutely love this café. I've been loads. The staff are so nice and the coffee is amazing. The food is so so good as well. This visit I had the French toast, honestly, so tasty. Don't let it put you off going if you're not vegan, I'm not vegan, honestly it doesn't matter If you haven't been yet, get yourself down. 😊

Visited for the first time today with a friend for brunch. Absolutely delicious pancakes,coffee & the staff were really friendly too!! Will be returning soon thank you.

French toast is outstanding!! They have lots of options for breakfast, brunch and lunch food, great music, great coffee, it's not too loud, free WIFI, I worked with my laptop here all day and the staff were so lovely! 100% recommend it :)

Visited in May 2023. Not sure I would call this place ‘family-friendly’, but would be a good meeting place for friends although it is a small cafe. Staff not very attentive initially, had to ask for menus. Unfortunately had also ran out of Biscoff for pancakes/drinks which was a shame. Having said that, the drinks/food we had were actually really well-made, tasty and were served quickly. Good display of vegan bakes to take out also. Would come again with vegan friends for coffee/brunch.

Went for brunch with a friend. We ordered the all day burrito and the breakfast burrito with coffees and juice. Coffee tasted amazing and the burritos were lovely. Would have benefitted from a tomato based sauce. Staff were really attentive and service was quick. Would highly recommend. The coffee house benefits from outdoor seating and is dog friendly.

I discussed this at length with my partner, and finally realised that Throwback is the best all-round coffee shop in the Leeds/Wakefield area. Pretty much every other place you can say “oh, this place has the best coffee”, “this place has a lovely atmosphere and great service” or “this place has fantastic food”… But for me, there isn’t anywhere else that would come top of my list no matter which of these things I was looking for on a particular day. The coffee is impeccable; it’s one of the few places that will make me a cappuccino the way/size I like it. The food is interesting and tasty and all vegan so I don’t have to worry about being an afterthought. It’s worth mentioning that I have basically toured Yorkshire looking for the best vegan pancakes and their pancakes are currently top of my list. The cakes are delicious and there are so so many options - I particularly love that they offer vegan pastries, pretty much nowhere else nearby has even close to their range of choices. The service is always lovely and friendly, one staff member even went so far as to bring me a cutting of a plant I really liked from home. I can bring friends or family in here for a catch-up just as easily as I can sit all day doing work, and never feel like I have overstayed my welcome. They welcome dogs and even keep dog treats in house! They also have a small free library of books to read or take away with you. Honestly this place is a rare gem… if you get chance please please come and show them some love, you won’t be disappointed. Thanks for being wonderful Throwback xx

I have been here 3x. I am not vegan but I am dairy free (allergic to butter), so it’s wonderful to find a place with cake I can eat! Always friendly and clean. First time we came with friends who are Vegan, they recommended it. Will definitely come again!

This is a lovely little coffee shop! I didn't have time to stay too long, but the staff are very friendly, and me and my friend agreed that our hot chocolates were a good drinking temperature :)

Just found this Wonderful Vegan Café and have instantly fallen in love with the place. The menu is 100% Vegan unless you want cow's milk in your coffee. Amazing coffee in Wakefield, so pleased to find a good coffee shop. Visited here today for a takeaway coffee, staff are so friendly, enough room for a pram and perfectly made coffee. Will definitely be back again!

Just called in for breakfast it was freshly cooked and delicious staff excellent a really warm welcome reall well worth a visit

Our first visit and we're not vegetarian or vegan!. Very friendly staff and quick service. I had the oreo and biscoff dessert. A good sized portion and it almost defeated even my sweet tooth. My suggestion would be maybe to have a few "less sweet" snacks (e.g biscuits, as not everyone wants a large gooey dessert with coffee) and perhaps a few more savouries as well as the sandwiches. Lovely flat white coffee. Presentation on very smart black crockery with gold cutlery. A very relaxing experience.

What a great find! Lovely staff, excellent dishes, cooked to order, incredible cakes and wonderful coffee. Today they were serving their own blend, which is really good. I hope we get a chance to return to Wakefield just for this 🥰

The food and drinks are always amazing here, wide selection of cakes and treats and a super relaxed atmosphere. The staff are brilliant, really warm and welcoming! Can't recommend this place enough 💜

Top level Vegan delights, much needed in Wakey. An always surprisingly wide array of desserts that are far too tempting. Sandwiches excellent.

Really friendly staff, nu metal, alternative, emo, pop-punk music and great coffee. We popped in for a cake and coffee and had lots of choice. The vegan cake selection is huge and the coffee is great with a selection of milks, including cow's milk if you aren't vegan. The iced coffees are really tasty too. It's dog friendly and looks to be really accessible for those in a wheelchair too. The only odd thing is that there aren't any menus behind the till, so it's hard to know what to order but this is something that can easily be fixed. We didn't get food but what other people got looked incredible so we will definitely be back to sample some vegan delights ☺️
