Poor uncared-for motorway services. Very poor road directional signage on site. I drove past the narrow turning into the car park, inadvertently ended up at the petrol station. When finally going into the main building... I open the first of two doors into the toilets, and I was instantly hit with a disgusting unbearable stench from said toilets. No ventilation whatsoever. Then I find human wastewater on the floor of the open cubicles. Only good thing was the powerful motion-sensor flush. The hot-tap water was cold. As I was drying my hands under the hand dryer, I saw the shower room door wide open, and in the shower room was some sort of exposed electrical appliance on the ceiling, taped over with gaffer tape, and not with the original cover. Dangerous hazard(?) Glad to get out of the unpleasant place. The empire-building Moto repeatedly fail at providing excellent service areas. The Moto company need to be broken up and sold off as various excellent standard small companies, like Westmorland, who have a constant run of high standards at their services.

It's small, and dated. A perfect example of the north/south divide. But you can still use the bathrooms and grab a Costa Coffee and a Gregg's sausage roll; so it's not all bad.

Just stopped off on my way home from work to use the toilet. I would rather sh#t in the carpark and wipe my ar#e with gravel than use them filthy stinky toilets! Unbelievable!!! I'll wait until I get home. The cleaner wants the boot...... Updated today the 15/10/23 took my chances and stopped here again, after getting a response from the owner I thought I'd give it another go...... Waste of time every toilet dirty, as I took pictures this time some of the toilets flushed the evidence away. Once again no cleaner

We stopped here to use the facilities and to buy refreshments. The toilets were clean and well-stocked; however, the communal eating areas weren't pleasant. Most chairs were made of fabric and covered in stains; they needed replacing for something more durable/easier to clean. The tables weren't clean and quite dirty; I expected better from expensive motorway services! Cleanliness is critical; please sort it out.

The gents toilets, only 1 out of the 3 soap dispensers is not broken, and that one had no soap. There are two doors that open the wrong way for hygiene, so you have to put your hands on the door handles to pull the door to get out, mixing your hands with all that fecal matter that has not been washed away with the lack of soap! , and other dirty people who don't wash their hands. On the positive side, the toilets flush is very good and powerful. Also , bad smells, the air extraction needs improving or maybe fitting! It's a good job this is not smell o vision! Really bad pot holes in the service road to the services! Also on a Saturday morning at 8:12, Burger King is not open, which is very poor. You can only park for 2 hours before you get a £100 fine. Petrol is 181.9p a litre, diesel 185.9, that is a 30p mark up above normal petrol stations. Avoid these services!

We visited on a return trip to York. The car park was busy but we found a slot. The service station was clean, however we did not see any tables being wiped merely emptied. The toilets were clean. Rested we resumed our journey South.

Good number of fast ev chargers that worked well. Food from Greggs was as expected. Toilets a bit smell and some needed serious cleaning.

I'm guessing it's a great place if you want to rob it at night because the 'security guard' just spends all his time in the reception of the hotel trying to chat up the female receptionist while his car is parked in the Lorry Park instead of right outside the door of the aforementioned hotel which is for cars.

This service area has always been rough, but this is a new level 😂

It's a motorway service! Stop here if you need a restroom or a quick refreshment. Petrol was unavailable when I went through this services but other than that everything was great.

Nice service area. Small yet everything you need!! The staff at Gregg's are lovely!! Toilets clean and a nice address in the centre to sit down.

It's small. As a hgv driver I pop in from time to time, with only 4 cubicles, you can always be assured some are not working and you will have to wait. But on the plus side it has a Greggs! Also has a Costa if you fancy a change!

What can I say?! Jill the queen from WHSMITH...The best woman I have Everett with a lovely and friendly attitude. Honestly she made my day with her friendly service with a very infectious smile!

Good place for a rest and refuel. Plenty of food and drink options from, Burger King, Costa to hot pastry snacks at Greg’s. There’s also a WH Smiths if you need something to read or just want some sweets for the kids. It’s not the largest service station but staff are friendly and look to be hard working, they never stopped while I was there. Lots of parking spaces for cars and lorries and toilet facilities in the main building. At the side there’s a Travelodge should you feel the need to rest overnight. The fuel station is undergoing some repairs/ updating, for example recharging points are being installed for electric vehicles.

This has to be the most depressing place of all time. Staff lovely and (somehow) has a decent electric car charger - but it really was just a sad place to be. Someone please do it up a bit and put some decent places in

Ideally situated for the journey, clean and tidy, pleasantly surprised by the friendly and polite people that worked there, so well done guys

  • 4/5 Ian D. 1 year ago on Google
Better than most motorway services,ie not really any queue for anything parking near the entrance was easy, and best of all I only ever drop at Moto because it has a Greggs as they don't rip you off and all the food us fresh

There is a shower room in ladies toilet. I've never seen a shower room in a motorway service station before.

    Quite good coffee, covid safe

It has toilets and places to eat. It needs a good bit of work doing to it. The interior had a fair bit of damp near the main sky light. It had peeling paint outside. Narrow entrance/exit corridor to toilets, so if someone came the other direction one of you would have to go back in/ out. The food establishments looked ok. It was a little smaller than most and as such it felt a bit crowded while I was there. There was some work happening in the car park to install electric car chargers... So maybe they are gradually starting to make improvements? Not the worst Ive been to. Certainly not the best. Not my preferred place but I'd use again if needed.

Friendly staff at wh Smith's . Over priced like all services. Driver's showers are badly designed, no where to put your clothes to prevent them from getting wet . .very frustrating

As services go, it’s quite behind, it looks like services we visited 15 years ago, just felt old to me. I’ve been twice and both times ended up with the trucks, yep I know I’m doing something wrong here. Fuel prices are a joke as they generally are at service stations.

  • 3/5 Arthur M. 1 year ago on Google
Just your normal run of the mill motorway services. Eating areas were reasonably clean but over priced as are all these places. Overheard a couple of women who weren't keen on the fact the toilet attendant was male.

It’s certainly a site of rest n relief in long journeys, that’s a big thanks by default, that I feel we owe to all Services on motorways. I did feel they’re busy and could focus more on cleanliness of bathrooms... but this isn’t a complain, just a suggestion [it might be that I was there at busiest part of the day]. I’ll be happy to improve stars if I go again and find it better.

Not at all bad, but the Southbound one seems a bit better.

It has that motel with flashing lightbulb feel. Everything works, but it is rather run down. Obviously you appreciate it when you need a slush, but otherwise wouldn't choose to stop there.

The site is beginning to show its age, but the staff are pleasant and friendly.
