Beautiful setting on the creek and in a great location relative to Shenandoah, but that’s about where it ends. As many reviewers mention, the vehicle sounds driving on the overhead bridge are relentless and really take away from it all. It’s way louder than you expect. I would’ve heard less cars had I camped in my own backyard. Although I don’t have very high expectations or even need bathroom facilities while camping, these weren’t as expected based on other reviewers. They were far from clean. Yes, the water was hot and 1 of the toilets flushed. Just make sure you “poop” in the right one. More concerning than the facilities, Pam did not seem to like having kids in her campground. We had 5 children in our group under 10. They are all respectful, well-behaved children, but she managed to make them feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. She told them she didn’t want them riding their bikes “all over the place” and that they should stay in their campsite. They all ended up being scared of her yelling at them instead of exploring. Overall, we still had a good time and made lots of memories, but this review is for the campground itself. I believe this place was probably very nice at one time, and maybe will be again someday…. but for now, you can find something better for the same price.

We have camped many times as a family and this was definitely not a "worst" but far from a "best" experience. The setting is lovely (minus the highway), however there is a lot of poison ivy and virginia creeper along the creek banks and trails. This campground is right next to a highway. Unless you get a campsite on the creek the vehicle sounds are constant. We wanted water and electric hook-ups so we only had options within earshot of the road. the bathrooms are very small and when I asked the woman who runs the place if we could get more hand soap in the women's restroom she informed me that she doesn't stock it and whatever was in there must have been left by the cleaners. i was worried about the TP running out but there was more under the sink. the "play area" looks more like a dump where people left old rusty toys that their kids don't play with anymore, but i will admit that my 2 yo wasn't phased in the slightest and enjoyed what was there. my older kids (ages 6 and 8) were either occupied along the creek or bored. i made the mistake of not packing card games or art supplies for them so don't make the same mistake! there's just not much to do at the campground itself.

Camped here for a weekend in early April while we day hiked the AT and it was fantastic. Pam, the manager, was great. She was very friendly and helpful. Our campsite where we parked our van was next to the creek and it had electricity and water. Hot showers and bathrooms were also available which were kept very clean. We will definitely be going back!

We just spent our first weekend here, and are already planning a trip back! Our site was ON the creek, something we had never experienced. If you’re looking for KOA style (pools, lots of people, playgrounds, stores) this is not going to be your space. If you want rustic but with running water and clean bathrooms, this place is perfect. Super low key, we met some amazing neighbors and our site was flat, rock free, had a great fire pit and picnic table. Pam was super friendly and accommodating, and the resident cat was an added bonus! There is a road above the campground, and I could see where if you had one of the sites close to it, it might be annoying. But we found that after about 9pm there was so little movement up there we totally forgot about it, and the creek definitely drowned it out! We will most definitely be back!!!

Pam was super great and the campsite was neat! There is a highway (which is obvious by pictures) and it can be a bit loud, but there are quieter spots further away. We took a walk around the grounds and explored the creek and woods a little. So much fun.

Great location on the creek but we barely slept because the cars on the bridge above are so loud. We hoped it would get more quiet as it got later… but the vehicles never stopped. It a good spot during the day but I won’t be camping there again.

Beautiful, well-maintained site, close to town. The owner was especially friendly and accommodating. Only negative point would be the bridge on one end of the site, which seems to have constant traffic. Bring earplugs for sure, but otherwise enjoy the site

Has the advantage of being outside the national park. If your trying to avoid the traffic (especially in October), consider this site. Beautiful, quaint site! Cash or card. Pam is the host. RV hookups. Bathroom and shower. **Some of the campsites are under the rt340 bridge which is always active. Bring earplugs for sleeping or request a site near the back.

My husband and I were able to get a Saturday night site at the last minute with no stress. There is ample space in between the sites; no trouble falling asleep- the creek is soothing to sleep to. Swimming hole was fun-there was a rope for kids to jump into the water. VERY friendly staff--Pam was a delight; very accommodating. Bathrooms were pretty decent; didn't use the showers so I can't comment. Friendly campers, safe, and pet friendly. Our site was primitive-no electric/water, but that's because we booked at the last minute. Plan to return next month!
