I highly recommend Black Goat Test Kitchen for a treat! Outdoors there is a deck alongside the building above a small field of wildflowers alongside the St George river, a pretty view. For seating outside there are two cafe tables that can each seat two people, and bar high-stool seats for around eight. Indoors feels like an 1800s New England tavern, but fresh, lovely, with a variety of seating including at the bar. They let our leashed dog sit with us on the porch. And they were totally unfazed by us bringing our infant and my wife nursing her. There was a grassy town park across the street, for kids or dogs or adults who want to run around. Ok, all that context out of the way - The food was DELICIOUS. Like, five cuts above almost anything else I’ve had in the region this year. This is fine dining. The exciting, creative menu; freshest and finest ingredients; exquisitely and swiftly prepared; with charming, professional service. The day we ate here, they were featuring a menu of small plates (about ten options, incl vegetarian) and a wine bar. We had the shishito peppers, fried mac n cheese, bbq slider, and frittata, with a cupcake for dessert. Each plate was ~$13, and four plates were good for a small lunch for me and my wife to share. The wine was superb. We’ll be back, and tell our friends!

What a gem! Cat and Derek were kind and attentive, offering a warm, radiant welcome, treating us like old friends. We visited during their soft opening weekend, enjoying tasty coffee and delicious baked treats….a perfect blueberry pop tart made with blueberries from a close by neighbor’s farm and a decadent coconut macaroon with a key lime filling…while soaking in the sun on their outdoor deck overlooking the St. George River. We had to pass on the ice cream sundaes, donut wrapped short rib, summer squash chowder and wine, sadly! Excitedly awaiting our next visit when they expand their offerings with more to discover and enjoy. A beautiful addition to our area. So happy they’re here!

I’m so happy we found out this place! We were staying on Owl’s Head for the weekend and I stumbled on the place while planning a paddleboard ride. We wanted to get there by the river but it happened that it was a tidal river and we were not timed with the tides. So we decided to go for diner instead. I had a chicken and waffle gumbo style, a korean inspired pork belly slider and a scallop dish. All were fantastic, especially the scallop. The fried green tomatoes were so good. That said, the banana pudding ice cream just blew my mind.. vanilla ice cream with banana chunks, torched mallow topping, salted caramel, chocolate bark and black garlic. I’m not a desert type of guy, but wow this was just insane!!! There was a live band playing as well when we were there, we enjoyed the music while eating outside on the terrace overlooking the river. The owners were also very kind and funny! Would recommend 10/10!

Delicious food and great drink selection. Had their ice cream, BLT, and Asian BBQ donut. All were amazing. Can’t wait to go to one of their suppers!

Best lunch we've have in Maine in more than 10 years! The food is incredible. Cat and Derek are fantastic. We are thrilled to have their restaurant in our area. If you're in the area, Black Goat is not too be missed. If you're not in the area, it's worth the drive.

An amazing breakfast with friendly hosts. Waffle sandwich and breakfast chimichanga. Great coffee with a view. Please make this a stop on your way to the mid coast. I gave it 5 stats for the trivial pursuit cards mixed in with the sugar packets. We loved it !

Derek is one of those Chef’s that has a special ability to share his travels and world experiences with his pallet and putting together menus that blow my mind. Execution of each dish is perfect and the flavor spectrum is amazing. One of the best meals in the country, Maine is lucky to have he and his team putting out the quality of food he does. Farm to table with no excuses, done right and most beautifully presented with a sense that art is very important in his food. Huge fan, cant wait to get back.

I do not write reviews but was visiting my parents in Camden and me being a chef in upstate NY they decided to bring me to their new favorite restaurant...All I can say is WOW!! What Derek and Cat are doing with their supper club in the small town of Warren is remarkable.. I try to eat at fine dining restaurants once a month or so and find them to be a tad pretentious and not worth the hype.. Going to the black goat is like entering into their home and they provide service and food that is creative, fun and delicious... It is a little pricey as other reviews have said but they spoil you throughout the evening with flavors and textures you wouldn't expect on one plate...totally worth it and I give them 10 stars hands up!

The black goat is a hidden gem off the grid in Warren Maine and it is worth going there. The Buffalo Mac and cheese was delicious. Is as the smoked oxtail. only 18 minutes from Camden.
