Just attempted to book in for afternoon tea only to be told that the hotel is currently closed to paying members of the public. Instead, most of its staff have been fired & it has been rented out to the EU / UK government & partners accommodate immigrants from a variety of countries. Which seems odd as there is little accommodation available in the area as it is.

If you like 60's decor and paper thin walls then this is the hotel for you. As soon as you walk through the doors to the halls it's like you've gone back in time. Rooms are very basic and filthy. Luckily for you, you’ll not be able to stay here for at least the next year as it’s yet another hotel block booked by Serco!

Hotel looked great on arrival, especially in reception Area and restaurant. Slow service at reception... Felt ignored when i arrived at 8pm.... there was no hello sir we will be with you shortly instead I was ignored for 6 minutes! Once I was finally dealt with I headed to my room, as soon as I walked into the corridor of my room it was like stepping back in time! Old wood and smelt funky. Got into my Room ( NO7 ) on the ground floor and it looked very old and tired. Room is in need of a revamp or even knock the block down and start again! Wall paper coming off the walls, window doesn't close properly and they have put rubber stripes in to fill the gap but is not actually doing anything, so all night all I heard was people coming and going. Bed wasn't bad but looks old and has seen better days. All night all I could hear was the sound of what I believe to be the central heating system making noises ( taping and banging ) Overall it was very disappointing and will not be stopping again!!!

Booked as a virgin experience gift, including three course dinner and breakfast. Hotel was dark and dismal, we had to check in at the bar, along with people ordering drinks. We were told we would have to eat our dinner in the bar area - I expected to eat my three course meal in a restaurant. We were given room 20. We went to the first floor up a dirty staircase with paint falling off the walls. The very small room was dirty with condensation dripping from the windows. We did not feel able to stay the night and left immediately, even though this meant a three hour drive home after a very long, tiring day. A very disappointing experience.

My room was cancelled due to illegal immigration. Its a shame many people in great Britain tonight will have no heating and probably be hungry πŸ˜•. But this hotels guests will be nice and snug with full bellys.

The hotel itself is a small little gem in the outskirts of town, but it was the staff who made my stay special, in particular, Amy, the lovely blonde lady in Reception. My room had an issue with the shower not being able to turn on the hot water and Amy came up to the room with me upon request and moved me personally. Very extra step by the staff member that was appreciated. The room itself was very nicely decorated, very clean and the shower was new, clean and although not luxurious, it was very functional. All in all, I would recommend a stay.

Most of the staff were lovely and very welcoming of us and the dogs but others looked like we shouldnt be there. Advertised as pet friendly but no where to walk them on site and no bins to dispose of poo. Manager seems like he wants it to be better and was asking what we would like to see so hopefully will improve on the pet side of things.

Book this for my mum for afternoon tea. The food was lovely great value for money and the service was great. They even gave my mum a birthday card! We had a great time. We may look to book again for another special occasion in the future.

If you like 60's dΓ©cor and paper thin walls then this is the hotel for you. The lobby is really nice and modern but when you walk through the doors to the halls it's like you've gone back in time. Room was very basic and really not clean & the loo roll holder was about to fall off the wall. Spent all night listening to the neighbouring room watching BBC news (I think we know after 3 hours we're getting a new PM...) so sleep was a struggle. Breakfast was average no better than a weatherspoons. Drinks were pricey, my wallet felt like it was in central London. All interactions with staff were great but I wouldn't return anytime soon. On check out nobody asked how our night was so we could express our concerns

Very attentive staff, nice experience. Yes some rooms are dated, but it that a major deal? Very clean, attention to detail. Staff were a credit, Welcoming and had excellence in customer service. Worked as a team & brought atmosphere. I manage a large hospitality residence, so I appreciated their service. Last minute Wowcher break and was great value. Appreciate these people Best Western Hotels ... as they are few & far between in the current market! Deserves at least a 4 star rating on Google, what do people want for the money they pay? The Jumeirah in Dubai? 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

Had our wedding reception here plus we and most of our guests stayed here. The rooms were lovely yes perhaps little dated but clean remember it's a 3 star hotel the staff and manager and the hotel wedding planner were most definitely 5star plus! Food for our buffet was delicious and breakfast was lovely, also when the taxi failed to show to take my future wife to the registry office one of the female members of staff took her in her own car and saved the day. So great staff lovely hotel great location close to bars pubs and restaurants in stockton heath quiet location.we highly recommend this hotel. Many thanks again to all the staff and management at the fir grove especially gillian. Mr and Mrs adams

We stayed in room 40. We booked a superior double, if this is a superior double I would hate to see a standard room. We even went back down to reception to check if it was the correct room. I have seen reviews that reception was hard to find and staff rude Γ· welk walk through the main doors and in front of you is the doors to the dining room walk towards them and as you reach them reception is on the left. One side of the queue is reception and the other the bar. It is a bit small. The staff were very pleasant and couldn't do enough for us. If I based this review on the staff alone this would be 5 stars easily. The deal we booked had a meal included and the meal was lovely and the young lady who served us was brilliant and so pleasant and helpful. With the deal we had late check out, we checked what time this was and was told 2pm. On the morning we were checking out we went for breakfast. I have seen comments that people have put about not being met and this is true. We stood for a few minutes then walked in and on the left is the bar and a young lady stood there greeted us with a smile. Breakfast was lovely and there was a great choice. We had also booked afternoon tea which we booked for 3pm because we could check out at 2. We returned back to our room and settled down to watch a movie to chill out. At 19:30 there was a knock on the door and when I answered it was housekeeping I explained we had late check out till 2pm so he smiled and left. At 11 another knock on the door- housekeeping again someone else. I explained again about late check out and she smiled and left. 11:30 yeo another knock on the door - housekeeping another person. We gave up and went downstairs to check out and we asked if we could bring forward the afternoon test until 1 the young lady said that was no problem and even said she could serve it straight away so we agreed. The afternoon tea was disappointing it was all shop bought and not very good quality but the young lady was very helpful and cheerful . We asked if it could be boxed up so we could take it home which she was very happy to do. When booking the afternoon tea we asked for just cheese or ham sandwiches and these were provided and actually very tasty (shame about the cakes and scones). I would just like to mention the room and the general condition of the hotel. The main areas of the hotel were very clean and staff very pleasant. The room was not superior in condition. Furniture was dated and tired. The bathroom was OK with obvious signs of neglect. There was a sign saying cation hot water- the water was not hot ut was warm enough to wash hands in but was not vert good foe a bath. We ran the water for a few minutes hoping the temperature would increase but it didn't. Overall this was not a pleasant stay and we will not be going back but I would like ti add that the staff were pleasant and very helpful.

Owners have sold out to the government and filled it with economic migrants at public expense in the hope of a free refurb. Staff were all dismissed so if it ever reopens you may as well discard all previous reviews as it won't be the same. For this reasons its a 1/5 for everything other than location.

Not good. Our room was not ready for checkin at 3pm. When we were allocated a room it was dated and in need of some refurbishment. Evening meal was a shambles, starter served with wrong dips and salad was limp and brown in places. We complained and were reserved starters but the chef had already started cooking the mains and as a result the mains were also ruined. Breafast was passable. The bar and serving staff struggled all evening lots of people complaining and others simply chose to travel to another eatery.

Recently changed ownership and bedrooms are a bit tired and dated but clean and comfortable. Public areas are nice although limited menu in restaurant at present. Staff very friendly and helpful. Cooked breakfast was excellent and all hot and freshly cooked. Plenty of parking and rooms used for wedding were ideal for a party of 75. All buffet food good especially lemon chicken and steak. Cheesecake to die for. Room for disco and dance ideal and nicely decorated. Bar in the room also handy. Just needs new owner to invest in bedrooms and would get 5 stars.
