Beautiful old pub with lovely decor and beams. Staff really kind and cheerful, and the food was amazing! It's a little bit dearer than average but you can tell the quality of food is good. I got the chicken supreme, chestnut stuffing, dauphinoise potatoes, carrots and mushroom veloute, and my mum got the "chippy tea", it was delish 😋

Went to the General Elliot for the first time tonight. From the minute we stepped foot through the door, the service was amazing. The food was just delicious and the staff could not do enough for you. To top it off, there was a really good live band. Felt very christmassey. Will definitely be back. Thank you

We have been here several times over the years. And it has always been good service good food .Also been twice this last 6 months. But sorry to say the food was average and the service was poor.We didn't get are food orders together .Some had finished one course before and others hadn't received theirs. Ordered drinks and they arrived intermittent again .Got the bill and had items on it we didn't order. But was that disappointed couldn't be bothered going through a question and answer situation. So just paid the bill and Left. Won't be going back any time soon. And not be recommending it to any one.Not the staffs fault purely down to management. Organising is a shambles.

One of the most delicious meals I've had in a long time, and service to match. Pub food done at the highest level in my opinion. We went for my mother's birthday 🎂...I have no complaints whatsoever. Definitely worth a visit. The bar area decor is top notch 👌

We spent this New Year’s Eve at The General Elliot, having a meal and drinks. We had a really great time. The food was absolutely delicious and we very much enjoyed the music. Thanks for your hospitality and generosity. We will certainly come again next New Year’s Eve.

We had the full English and brioche brekkie from their brunch menu. We were with our kids and they do a fairly reasonable kids offering for breakfast / brunch. Brunch and coffee for 3 adults and 2 kids cost just under £60 so quite pricy but worth it for a treat every once in a while.

On arrival at the pub you open the doors and think, hmm nice place shame only a few people are in here. despite this fact I had to wait 5 minutes to get served, Not a great start. I thought perhaps the staff were new. We had intended to eat that evening. Having not been in this place before (yet on several occasions passing and seeing it was newly renovated), figured it would be worth trying. So, despite it being like a library, and fear of being overheard when I chew, I was too hungry to try elsewhere. My luck got worse.... the service just to order the food took an eternity, When the food did arrive it was not only cold, but looked like something a child had put together. It is very expensive compared to other quality eateries in Croft, so I expected this to serve top quality produce, crafted by a skilled chef. Sadly every one of the dishes looked uncooked, cold or amateurish. Not at all anywhere near the standard you would expect for £27 average a plate. I hardly ever complain, but I had to say something on this occasion. At this point the owner of the pub walked in and the waitress asked him to speak to our table. We made it clear the food wasn't good ....the outcome..... Totally arrogant man and unwilling to offer any kind of recompense. Not even an apology. Just made out he was too busy. Nobody at any point had a clue about hospitality in this place. It is a shame as the building is lovely, but it is clearly run with someone who has absolutely zero people skills, and clearly no idea how to run a pub restaurant. Even Basil Fawlty would do a better job.
