The place looks really nice and cozy, but the people who work's there are extremely rude. First of all, you have a menu on the wall, and half of the items are not available. Also, half of them are covered with white paper. If you don't have this item anymore the remove that from the board. They ladies who give the food are extremely rude. They give a feeling like they hate the costumers there and why you even came to eat and bother them. I don't know about lunch food, but breakfast food is definitely "no thanks." We ordered an omelet, and this was not even close to an omelet. Also, we got pierogies, and they were cold, and stuffing was extremely salty. Overall experience was bad for all of us. I will not recommend this place for any people who visit beautiful Warsaw. If you want to try really good polish food, it's not here.

Wow, just wow! The best meal I’ve had here in Warsaw. Everything was hearty and extremely flavorful. Great value for money as well. Don’t be fooled by the unassuming outside and the sleepy atmosphere inside, and be sure to ask for the English menu since the one on the wall is in Polish. I got the “flaki” soup (slow-cooked beef tripe), fried cod in batter, and meatball in mushroom sauce, plus a side of pearl barley and their homemade juice. Each was cooked to perfection - even the fish batter was so well seasoned, and the mushroom sauce left me wanting for more. Do yourself a f(l)avor and give this milk bar a visit!

Omg this place is incredible, one of those real milk bars like from communist times - the food is dirt cheap, the selection is endless, all Polish, and you can keep ordering until they run out of something and simply remove it from the board. I had the Ukrainian borscht and baked beans (Fasola po bretońsku) and both were delicious, really hit the spot. This place is no frills, yet the dining room is actually decent looking, no sad Soviet space. And the best part is the kitchen full of female cooks running around, fulfilling orders as they come, and then yelling out into the dining room when the dish is up. Highly recommend whether you’re a local looking for an inexpensive lunch option or a tourist looking for an experience. :-) definitely coming back.

Love the milk bar since there were many local dishes to try and the prices were good. It was very clean also! When we were struggling with the Polish menu and the cashier was super nice in passing us a English version to check. Have tried the dumplings and it was very good with the price less than 50% vs the restaurants in the old town. The cheese cake was good and should leave some room for it. There was a line during the lunch time and it would take a while to wait for the food also but I would say it worths!

Food is decent, doesn't all come out hot. But it is mostly delicious. The place... other than the food trays.. is pretty clean also. They do close earlier than they say they close and also start putting the chairs on tables and closing up when people are still there and eating and before they close. It is different than what most westerners are used to so worth it to go to a milk bar like this... but go early before they start running out of dishes. Also it's cheap.

A traditional bar mleczny- one perfect to try traditional polish cuisine at a low price. There were many locals and quite a long queue when I went but it was evident why. I paid 27zł for chicken and pierogi ruskie. The chicken was seasoned so well and cooked to perfection. The pierogi were decent - they weren’t amazing but they did the job. If you’re looking to come for just pierogi, then I wouldn’t recommend. The other meals are quite good - many locals take soups and pancakes. The service was quick and nice.

5 stars for authenticity, not for being fancy or high cuisine (which, of course, was never the purpose of these places...) The concept of "milk-bars", subsidized kitchens with basic food, started during sovjet times and some of them still exists. This place seemed to be frequented by locals of all ages and from all walks of life. Don't expect an easy time ordering if you don't speak polish or don't have a local with you.

I like this "bar mleczny". If you want to eat quick, cheap and something traditional then this place is for you. Ideally take a polish friend to order food for you. I ordered dumplings with meat and potatoes with chicken breast. I have received potatoes with chicken straight away but they forgot to give me dumplings until I have reminded them (without any issues they just gave me my dumplings) however those were cold inside.... ;( But I still like it despite this small issue. It's like in old times in Poland where time stops.

(Translated by Google) A great eatery in the center of Warsaw. Tasty, fresh, very cheap and just like at our mother's. Still none of the dishes disappointed me. It is known - this is not a restaurant and you do not come here for business meetings, but as a place for lunch during the working day - a bomb! Below 20 PLN you will eat your fill :) I advise you to come outside of rush hours (before 12:00 or after 4:00 pm) because there are long queues.

Very tasty polish food! Here’s where you truly mingle with the locals when they are having a normal meal. No touristy pretence but the food was truly delicious and great value. The menu on the wall is in polish but the lovely lady at the counter will pass you an English menu if you look lost like a sheep. After which you have to queue up and wait for you food to be cooked. The wait could take awhile depending on the crowd..

This is a milk bar in the center of Warsaw. I have been there on a saturday evening. It wasn’t so crowded like I expected so I didn’t wait in the line for a long time. I have ordered zurek and a mix pierogi plate. They were a m a z i n g! On pierogi plate, they gave me 6 big pierogis with different fillings. The portions were too big that I could hardly eat them all, but they were very good so I had to finish! :D If you are around Centrum and you want to try Poland’s famous milk bar concept, you should definitely visit Bar Bambino.

Milk bar - Really good traditional polish food at extremely reasonable prices! Loved the flacki (beef tripe soup) although it was a little salty. The veal schnitzel was good too! In general, portions are on the smaller side but for the price paid it is still value for money. Importantly, all of the items were picked were delicious and homey. They also have an English menu (ask for it at the counter). Pro-tip: after ordering, the cashier will pass you an order sheet receipt to be passed to the kitchen. Kitchen staff are not English speaking - so just keep an eye for when your food is ready by remembering what you ordered.

Ordinary canteen a-la the Polish People's Republic period or early 90s) But good price and tasty food. It's the place for quick lunch or dinner without any culinary delights. You can offer Polish cuisine, breakfast or lunch menu. Bar Bambino is always full of people. There are low prices and wide range of traditional Polish food what is why you have to wait in line 10-15 minutes (lunch time). The interior doesn't impress me as well as cleanliness and the quality of dishes and cutlery. Plastic or metal cutlery are available, you can take the napkins and use sanitizer. But the service was ok. Anyway, it's a place with cheap and tasty food if you have no time money for visiting something better)

This place has great reviews and I see a decent crowd waiting for food. I thought I had found an awesome milk bar with traditional polish food. Little disappointed though, my tripe soup is super spicy (not in a good way) and meatballs in a mushroom sauce are just blah.

A classic polish diner "bar mleczny" offering traditional polish cuisine at very affordable prices. The place itself is very well kept and the food is pretty good. Do take note that it tends to get crowded in peak lunch hours so you might have to wait a while to place an order.

Just as some reviewers said, they seem to close earlier than posted. They are supposed to close at 8pm. We were there at 7 and half the tables have their chairs up already. Not only that, most of the food were gone, no pierogi at all. They only covered the price with blank paper for those items no longer available. Lots of locals, it’s more like a canteen, self serve, customers eat and leave. With all that being said, their staff were friendly, the food was great, very affordable prices. We had soup and pork chops

Homemade polish cuisine. Lots of locals as it has very low prices and the food was great. it’s self service old fashioned and the staff very helpful. We had Barsch - soup with beats - a must try, Golabki - stuffed cabbage and snitzel with mashed potatoes.

First of all, when reviewing this place we need not to forget that it is a bar of budget. Anyways, you can come across an extensive line which means that it's popular. The staff is okay. Some tables are not cleaned too often. Food is tasty and the wait time is short and even immidiate at times. For the price level given, I can sure recommend Bar Bambino as a viable lunch spot option.

Really good traditional and simple polish food, but the staff does not speak English and isn't very pleasant... Is a pity for the top rated restaurant of this type in Warsaw. Also there is no explanation how it works even if you speak polish.

  • 4/5 Dorota R. 6 months ago on Google
The food runs out very quickly, since it's extremely cheap for the polish standards and it's very flavorful and nice :) I had botwinka soup with egg, and it was absolutely amazing. I remember having it in my kindergarten, and it has brought me back to my childhood. I miss that soup.... Maybe it's time to visit Warsaw again? 😜

Well cooked, simple food at a low price. Ticked all my boxes (as a person of plain palate). Also very quick, but that might have been because it was late. Bit confused by the ordering process. Make sure to take your ticket to the counter or they won't make your food!

The dishes are tasty and cheap, but the portions are not too big in comparison to other diners. Also it gets quite busy during the lunch time, you may get confused with the roll out of the dishes. They all are served at the same time,l and not very hot, so basically if you order also a soup, your second course will be cold before you even start it.
