Cafe Bar Lounge

😐 Nice small cocktail menu, good crowd, music at a nice level to talk with friends or strangers. Unfortunately, my order took 25 minutes…for an old fashioned. The bar staff made drinks for large group that arrived after me and my guess is that they completely forgot my order. Bartender apologized but... I have never felt so uncomfortable. My friend and I were at the comic book store and decided to pop in. When I entered everyone just stared and no one said anything(bartender included). I sat down and received no welcome or menu or water or anything. My friend came up and she felt the same energy. Vibes were incredibly off. When the bartender did speak he was curt and seemingly annoyed. We got up to leave and again everyone just stared. SO WEIRD AND OFF PUTTING.

I’ve been coming to Licht consistently for over a year. The drinks are specially curated and delicious. Marco, the bartender, is friendly, kind, and always remembers his regulars. The ambiance is a chill place to hang out with friends and enjoy a great cocktail or sit and read. A unique queer space in DC, I highly recommend this spot to all my friends.

Licht has become one of my go-to local spots on U St. Their approach on decor + ambiance has always been the immediate first thing I’ve noticed since they’ve opened and I have been loving as the space changes over time (keep the christmas lights pls). Major shout out to Markco for not only being a fabulous bartender but also for his ability to create a safe and welcoming Queer space. If you visit Licht during the times it’s slower, it can also be a great spot to knock out some work. Overall a much needed addition to U St! 10/10 will always recommend ✨🫶🏼

This bar is EVERYTHING!! The decor, cozy and chill vibe makes it a great place to do some work, hang out with friends and a great date spot. Is both a bar and cafe with some amazing bartenders and staff, David, Edgar, Alex and Ulsa make you feel welcome and relaxed. Get the Tequila Maybe? Spritzer is delicious!!😊

Licht is an amazing place to hangout, have amazing drinks, and enjoy amazing people. Also, the staff are wonderful! The most amazing hidden gem in DC!

I tried just a sip of Rose Water Tears and the Duchess. Both were top shelf - combination of inevitability and insouciance in the flavor profiles. I’d order either of those on a second visit. My cocktail - LIFE IS A MYSTERY was so delicious (and yes, mysterious) that I ordered a craft cocktail by giving the mixologist just hints of my preferences. The drink was so good that I just let each sip sit in my mouth for an epoch, sanctifying my taste buds. A warm conversation-friendly space.

The space is really cute but the drinks were eh. I ordered an old fashioned and the bartender made it was 5x more bitters than the drink should have. My friend got a whiskey sour and it was also off in proportions. It’s a little concerning they don’t have a dishwasher but not sure if most bars just don’t have one.

Really cute and comfortable gay cocktail bar. Simple, classic menu. Small space that invites you to relax and chat with others. Definitely get the Aviation or one of their twists on a Negroni.

Fine atmosphere of social people. Lovely decor! Clean space. Bartenders were rude and unattentive.

We showed up early on a Friday and had a great time at Licht. Our drinks were good and quite strong and the decor is a lot of fun. I do agree that the size is small, so if you did show up during a busy time your experience might be different (which others noted). We will definitely be back and hope for a repeat experience.

Super cozy, local spot. Bartending is a cut above most of what you can find in DC. It’s obvious that Licht has put a lot of effort into curating an exceptional aesthetic, and I can say that there is nowhere quite like it in DC. I’d obviously visit again and I think it will quickly become one of my favorite spots in DC.

Small space, but always good drinks and very pleasant bartenders. Can get noisy when it gets crowded. Very nice decor and artwork of sexy men.

Super cute queer bar! Very tiny and a little bit hard to find (it's above the comic store). Great atmosphere!

Beautiful well lit upstairs café, bar and lounge. The walls are plastered with some beautiful and unique art which creates an "at home ambiance. The menu is stocked with wines and some amazing cocktails. Its perfect as a work spot, reading, hanging out and meeting with friends and lovers.

Really loved this place. Menu is small with classic cocktails, but the staff is knowledgeable and able to make drinks to order pending ingredients. Was able to get an off-menu Paper Planes, and the bartender whipped up a custom drink based on my partner’s drink preferences. Ambience is great, very clean and warm. Definitely glad we made the stop!

Had a wonderful evening here tonight. As always, I love the cozy atmosphere, Edgar made great drinks, and much to our surprise and appreciation, we were gifted a cheese board and mixed nuts, which were delish! I love this place especially because it offers incredibly thoughtful beverages for those who do and do not drink alcohol, making it a truly unique and inclusive place in the DC gay scene.

Licht is one of my favorite places in DC to come to for cocktails with my best friend when I have time off work. My favorite drink of choice is Let’s Get Spritzy With It because they have various flavors. Alex the bartender is also my favorite cause he remembers my drink as well as my friend. Oh and they make a really espresso martini called Cup of Joe.

This is my new favorite DC spot for catching up with friends after a long week. Two of the Bartenders, Angel and Alex, help create such a warm and welcome environment that they’ve begun to feel like part of our crew. ♥️ If you happen to be there when Angel is working, ask for Angels purple Gatorade. You can thank me later!

Profoundly welcoming, Angel and Alex were such amazing bartenders and hosts! I will be back soon, and highly recommend this establishment to all my friends!
