I drove 21 mins to this place to get some food cause I heard that their food was good. Before I can even taste the food the first spoonful I took it was hair all through it. I go in to let the workers know the manager comes out and tells me to show her I told her that she can look for herself I asked her for a refund she denied it. Called the police when she could’ve just given me my money back . I didn’t even get to see how good the food was . I drove 21 mins just for nothing for her to accuse and say I could’ve put it there. Like really I would’ve never waisted my time. Bad customer service the ladies there are rude and nasty. Update- Janet The Owner. You’re A Liar & It’s Sad. Never Did I Ever Threaten Anyone And My Friend Was Very Calm. Nor Did I Agree With You & Say That It Was A Scallion Which You Can Clearly See In The Pictures That, That Was Indeed Hair. I Came In There Very Politely And Told One Of Your Employees That There Was Hair In My Food!! I Got Upset When You Made It Seem Like I Was Lying & Then Tried To Say I Put It There. You Guys Customer Service Is Very Poor, Nasty & Rude!!! It’s Going On 4 Days Now. I Would Be Crazy To Lie About Something So Simple That Could’ve Been Handle Professionally But I See You Guys Lack In That Area. Good Day!

I've come to this place multiple times to know that they're good, but I always forget to review them. They're a good Jamaican restaurant that serves good curry and Jerk Chicken and other good foods. My personal favorite is their Jerk Chicken platter with dark meat, rice and beans, and cabbage. ***The ONLY thing I wish they would include with the platter are just a few pieces of fried plantains, not a whole side to purchase for $3-$4 extra... But it's so good though. Really good.*** I believe they call the owner of the restaurant "Ma". Ma was very upbeat, friendly, and she noticed that i was dining in and i didn't have a beverage to drink, so she offer a free water bottle on the house! I know it's not too big of a deal like "pffft water bottle? She could have offered a nice Jamaican soda pop" but hey times are tough right now with markets charging $2-$3 for 1 bottle of water! The fact that Ma gave me water on a hot summer day to help me enjoy their good food was a very nice gesture. There's no parking lot so just parallel park on the street near the restaurant! Always satisfied from Jam Doung! 👍

First let me start by saying I heard good things about this place but I guess this might be my first and last time coming here. For $62.30 I'm expecting my food to be correct which it wasn't. My fiance food was correct but I order a combo with Mac and Cabbage. Got all the way home (35 minutes away) and what did I get? One meat(oxtails) and no Jerk chicken. I tried to call and of course they didn't answer. Order number: A088 Order name: Jay

Another case of the "comeonnnnnnn". Checked the reviews prior and had some apprehensions but said I would give it a shot. The stories about the customer service are not legend they are truth as I waited around an additional five minutes for my order that was already ready after being told twice they were cooking. But, lets talk food as this was a rather humorous dining experience. I've never seen chicken this small in my life and they are flat out ripping people off at these prices. Rice was mushy and over cooked and a stick of gum was almost thicker than every chicken piece. Check it out!

So I didn't take pictures because my food looked and smelled so amazing I just wanted to devour it. On 3/25/22 I ordered a large curry goat extra rice and peas and extra gravy. My food tasted amazing and I want some more now! The problem is I didn't have any meat well let me not say any it could have been like 3 or 4 little pieces. I definitely had a lot of bones with no meat on them. To be clear I could eat rice and gravy all day but since I paid for meat I expected meat. I'll update this because I'm going back today and I'll take pictures this time. So maybe they just had a off day yesterday! I went today like I said and I ordered 2 ( one for my mom) and it was so much better so I'll give them 4stars.

The food was fresh. We got a: •Small oxtail plate w/rice & peas/Mac/cabbage: Decent serving size for the price. The meat was slightly sweet, the oxtail gravy was a perfect match for the perfectly cooked rice and peas. The make is kind of a mash up between Caribbean mac pie and American baked Mac. The flavor was ok for me, nothing to write home about. The cabbage had a nice texture. Again the flavor was good but not spectacular. •6 pc jerk wings (party wings) w extra gravy: I personally prefer whole wings for jerk. The meat to spice ratio is off w the small wings. Not sure if theu were actually smoked. Never the less, they were a good add on to the meal. The gravy is more like pan drippings and can be poured over any of your meal. It was very flavorful and not too spicy. •Chicken patty: The reason we even ventured out was to find a beef patty and cocoa bread. They had neither. So we tried the chicken. The crust was great. The filling was a little on the curry side and had a nice kick to it. They were definitely fresh and I appreciated that. •Sweet potato cake: Moist and delicious. It was giving carrot cake minus the accoutrements or. Very dense and moist spice cake. The cream cheese icing stole the show. I'd come back just for this cake. Over all it was a great experience, the place was clean and we were greeted enthusiastically as soon as we entered. There was a short wait despite it being nearly empty, nothing unreasonable though. I will say, there did seem to be a lot of online/Uber orders to fill. So that may explain the wait. On a scale of 1-10 this place gets a solid 8.5. I'll be back to try more dishes. Especially the desserts and drinks.

This place has amazing food. The oxtail was delicious. The Pinapple Ginger drink was amazing. The place has a constant flow of people in and out of here. Great food.

The atmosphere, decor, Cleanliness, employee customer service is 5 stars. However the food has no flavor and the servings are disproportionate. I got 5-7 small mostly bone ox tails, a HUGE PILE of sticky icky rice & peas, and Mac&cheese + two beef patties. Total price $30. I would highly recommend ordering at the register as the kiosk experience was like ordering a airline ticket online...you really have to pay attention and read else you will mistakenly order extras that come with your order. The patties were traditional flat and not airy like some places but again there was really no Jamaican seasoning flavor I could taste and they were BURNED. I've never been Served a burned beef patties in my life!! When I didn't smell Jamaican cooking outside nor inside the place that should have been my que but the location atmosphere cleaniness drew me in with disappointment. I hope they find the right chef because this place could really be something.

This was a large order of oxtails . I wanted to split it between todays dinner and tomorrows dinner. Until, I learned that the order consisted of 6 oxtails and as you can see an abundance of rice. The flavor was awful . I’m not sure how to pinpoint-perhaps lack of freshness , missing key ingredients . I won’t order that dish again . I usually order the jerk wings and they do ok there for the most part .

I loved everything about this restaurant. I ordered jerk chicken, ox tails, and king fish. They also had Jamaican black cake. Taste like a chocolate fruit cake! Great food!

The food was delicious and the environment was fantastic! We came for lunch and enjoyed every bit, and even bought some extra beef patties to take home. We’re not local to DC, but we’ll be sure to visit every time we’re in the area.

Wow. I was pleasantly surprised by this spot on North Capitol. I got the medium jerk chicken w/ rice & peas and cabbage. Packed with flavor, the dark meat was juicy and the gravy took it to the next level. I was incredibly impressed with the balance of heat. Not all that spicy but just enough to get the nose runny. For $20 I got a delicious lunch in less than 10 minutes. Finally the restaurant owner created such a homey environment that it made me feel like I was already a regular. Top notch.

70% of the large oxtail platter was fat and the end bits of the tail. Found a plastic sticker from the produce they use in the Mac and cheese also which was a pleasant surprise. I spent $60.00 for two orders and it was such a waste.

The quality has gone downhill!! Won’t get anymore of my money!!✌🏾 Update: I appreciate the owner for responding. However, the cost is too great to continue to give chances. I was there several years ago, and know there’s a HUGE difference. Unfortunately, I don’t think quality comes back that easily…. The jerk chicken taste like it’s baked the same day with NO marinating at all…. The flavor is even different. It gives barely there flavor…. The expensive Mac is bland, the cabbage is the only thing I enjoyed. Brown stew chicken was HARD AND DRY (stale and quite old tasting)…. I’m sorry, but I can not afford to gives continuous opportunities…. I did UberEats and it was between 2-3 when the order was placed.

Food was delicious, very fresh. The jerk chicken was smoked to perfection, and there wasn't a lot of sauce smothering the taste of the marinated meat. Next time back in DC, this is my Jamaican spot. The curry goat was a little boney, but not complaining, and it did have some meaty pieces it was still good. Be aware that they don't take phone orders you will have to download the app or order from their website if you don't want to wait when you arrive. Food was ready when I arrived 20 minutes later and was hot and delicious. Mac and cheese, plantains, and carrot cake were very well prepared all the food was very fresh. I would highly recommend this spot.

Must get the brown stew chicken, Jamaican black cake and sour berry juice!!! So so good, the Jamaican cake is like no other cake, so special flavor with rum. Brown stew also so good! We came back 3 times in 2 days after we visited it the first time! Must try

My favorite place to get Jamaican Food. I drove an hour from northern VA 1-2 times a month. The service is great and it’s fast no matter how busy they are. The jerk wings are my favorite!

I use to go here before the upgrage to a restaurant years ago. The food was better then. I got the combo platter for $26. There was more rice than anything. Definitely need gravy on top. The curry goat was okay, not enough, the oxtail were good. For almost $30, the portion should have been more.

I been eating here for years. I make a 30 minute plus commute for them . Food always taste the same, flavorful, tender and not dry. This the only carribean spot I will eat at I don’t care what other people recommend. People complaining about the food being more rice but other cultures do the same thing LOL. I’m being loyal to jam doung.
