One of my favorite places in downtown DC, Freedom Plaza is right across from the Wilson Building, which is the seat of our local DC government. The site of festivals, celebrations, concerts, demonstrations of free speech, and outdoor activities, the special part of this plaza is the ground. It’s laid out with a map of the area of downtown DC from the Capitol - which is in plain sight to the east - to the White House. It’s also inlaid with amazing quotes. A vibrant, living part of local and national life, well worth the visit!

Emancipation Day was amazing. The parade, the people and the food was fantastic. It was kid friendly too.
