Really cool spot worth a visit. Elevator ride up and down gives you a quick history lesson which then continues throughout the visit as there are plaques with information and the workers are always happy to answer any questions. It wasn't too crowded which was really nice as well. Only thing is to be prepared to wait outside before being able to enter. Definitely book in advance. Security checks also required upon entry.

This monument is impressive and amazing to visit the grounds are really clean, a lot security around. Great place to walk around, ride a bike, relax, take pictures and/or have lunch from the food trucks. The structure is magnificent piece of Art, the monument is more beautiful in person, I definitely recommend it to anyone. The Washington Monument is an obelisk within the National Mall in Washington, D.C., built to commemorate George Washington, once commander-in-chief of the Continental Army (1775–1784) in the American Revolutionary War and the first President of the United States (1789–1797).

The Washington Monument is an iconic symbol of American history, and I had the pleasure of visiting it recently. This awe-inspiring obelisk, located on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., left me utterly mesmerized. Standing tall at 555 feet, it dominates the skyline and serves as a tribute to the first President of the United States, George Washington. The monument's design is both elegant and commanding, with its distinct white marble exterior gleaming against the backdrop of the city. The surrounding grounds are beautifully landscaped, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely stroll or a family picnic. It's also an excellent place for history buffs, with informative plaques and exhibits on site providing insights into the monument's construction and its historical significance. The Washington Monument is a must-visit for anyone exploring Washington, D.C. Whether you're a history enthusiast, a photography buff, or just looking for a serene place to enjoy the outdoors, this iconic landmark has something to offer everyone. Don't miss the chance to experience the legacy of George Washington and the United States up close. It's a true testament to the enduring spirit of the nation.

You need to get tickets online. When I went to DC they were not giving tickets out. You had to get them online and they were NOT available for that day. Meaning...if you want to go, get your tickets online and in advance. Since this is new (Covid), I went through security alone, went up the elevator with 5 people and we were the only ones at the top! Great views! Plan ahead and ENJOY!

This Monument is way bigger in actual than expected. Amazing place to visit in DC and mark it in your wish list. I visited during Cherry Blossom 🌸 festival and enjoyed kite festival as well. Couldn’t go at the top as it needs to have tickets in advanced. This is located in between Capitol and Lincoln Memorial. Flags around the monument make it more beautiful. Just visit, enjoy and make memories.

Breathe taking views on all four sides! Long lines even though we all already have tickets. Elevator rides are short. I expected more but even the museum at 490 ft was very small. But worth the visit.

The view from the top is breathtaking. To get tickets you can go online or get there very early as they go very quick. The two tone color of the Washington Monument is very cool to see in person. The size is extremely hard to fathom standing at the base and looking up. The view across the mall and seeing the reflection in the reflection pond is very cool. It is impossible to come to DC and miss seeing it. Standing at the tippy top you can see the capital, white house, Lincoln memorial, and many other beautiful sights.

Very cool piece of history. The elevator ride is very quick. You get great views of the National Mall from the top. Seeing the stone behind the glass is nice. The State carvings were very cool. The rangers are very knowledgeable and give you all the time you need to check out the 500 foot and 490 foot levels. Make sure you get tickets early. They are available 30 days and 1 day in advance online and morning of in person.

I would say the Washington Monument is a cool piece of architecture and an important part of the US history. However, I personally do not like its look, and I don't think it fits into the DC. I have seen the original plans for its final look, and they were so much better and more beautiful. I definitely recommend taking a tour to the top of the Monument, it is a must see. The views are beautiful, and there are nice historical exhibitions. Book the tour in advance if you can. If not, please arrive EARLY to buy same-day tickets. Selling starts 8:45, make sure to be there an hour before that. Otherwise good look. It is worth.

For $1, definitely worth it. You have to buy your tickets in advance. The building is beautiful inside. The view is amazing, though the windows are very small. The only negative point during my tour was the blur/transparent windows system of the elevator; it was not fully working and we had no good view on some particular signature stones during the way back down.

Make sure to book your reservations way in advance. You can try to get same-day but honestly just spend the $1 and get timed entry reservations. Be mindful the reservations do get booked up pretty fast so leave enough time before your visit. The first floor is absolutely stunning and ornate. The views from the top are awesome but the windows are a bit small.

Dude, so good! Been a long time since I went to the top. Well worth it. Kind of exciting. Get tix at recreation.gov. look at least a few days ahead. Right now only 6 tickets at a time. Great place to make memories.

This was an amazing building that featured a lot about us history on the inside. Would recommend getting tickets in advance and also to go on a day that had good weather and not too hot. Had to reschedule since it was too hot and it closed since they were fixing the ac. Top has a great view but not much at the bottom. Good for family and kids or solo.

Be sure to buy tickets 30 days in advance, only $1 to reserve. I was there a little early and as it was quite they let us in, you go through security and then up the lift, you arrive to the top floor to look a views, then Go downstairs to a small museum, then on the way down the lift it slows to show you old stones that were gifted during it’s construction. Would highly recommend

If you can, definitely try to get tickets for a tour!! You will need to get tickets in advance most likely. While we were waiting for our timed entry, the park rangers were constantly turning people away. There are a few same day tickets available in the morning, but they run out quickly. We were there for a holiday weekend and the rangers were telling folks without tickets to get in line at 6am at the latest for the next day. Entering the monument is strange, you first need to go through a security check point. Once everyone in your group is through, a massive solid steel door opens and lets you inside. It’s timed to close after a certain amount of seconds. The ride up to the top is quick and the elevator is very smooth. Views out are awesome but it can be a little crowded. You might need to wait a few minutes for people to head down to the gallery floor. The ride back down is pretty cool because the elevator slows down at two points so you can view some of the engraved stones from whomever they were donated from.

We have visited this place multiple times however fall is the best season to visit i feel so that you can enjoy the walk and the weather and breeze and colors. This place offers a beautiful walk to the monument which connects to the world war memorial 2 , george Washington monument and Lincoln memorial. Its a great place to visit with kids family and friends . The elevator ride is awesome.

The day we went was a bit of a bad day, but I assume the view would be amazing on a better day. I’m glad they reopened the elevator to the top, because they have an interesting little museum up there too. It surprised me when I approached it in-person, it’s much bigger when you’re up close. I had previously only seen it from afar or online.

Wonderful structure so tall that I can see it from our flight. Central attraction of the mall. You can take the some awesome view of surroundings from the top. But you have to get the tickets 30 days before. One days advance tickets are very rarely available. So try for the 1 month before tickets those are easy to get. Public restrooms is near by.

The Washington Monument is an iconic landmark in Washington, D.C., and witnessing the fireworks display from its vicinity is a truly memorable experience. On the night of the fireworks, the Washington Monument becomes a focal point as people gather in anticipation of the spectacular show. As darkness falls, the monument is beautifully illuminated, adding to the enchanting atmosphere of the event. The vibrant bursts of color in the night sky create a stunning backdrop against the monument's towering presence. The combination of the illuminated monument and the dazzling fireworks creates a sense of patriotic celebration and awe-inspiring beauty. It's an unforgettable sight that captures the spirit of the occasion and offers a unique perspective on the Washington Monument's grandeur.

Enjoy the view, enjoy the elevator ride down, and good luck in getting your tickets. Wait early in the morning at the Washington Monument Lodge and cross your fingers and your toes you get there early enough to get tickets. I recommend 6:30 am if you are getting same day tickets.

Take the elevator up there to enjoy the beautiful view. There is some info about the Washington Monument: Built in the shape of an Egyptian obelisk, evoking the timelessness of ancient civilizations, the Washington Monument embodies the awe, respect, and gratitude the nation felt for its most essential Founding Father. When completed, the Washington Monument was the tallest building in the world at 555 feet, 5-1/8 inches. Construction of the Washington Monument began in 1848 with enslaved Africans as laborers, according to several sources. Construction stopped in 1854 due to lack of funds, and then resumed from 1877 until its completion in 1888.

The Washington Monument is an absolute marvel that captures the essence of American history and ambition. Standing proudly in the heart of Washington D.C., this iconic obelisk symbolizes the nation's founding principles and pays tribute to the visionary leadership of George Washington. The monument's towering presence is a testament to human ingenuity and engineering prowess. As you ascend to the observation deck, you are rewarded with breathtaking views of the city, where history and modernity coexist. The tranquil grounds surrounding the monument provide a serene escape in the midst of the bustling capital. A visit to the Washington Monument is an experience that fills you with a sense of awe and reminds you of the incredible journey that has shaped the United States into what it is today.

I visited Washington Monument in May second week. Weather at the time was beautiful and it wasn’t very crowded also. This entire area is very nice to visit at least for one time. Few things I would suggest if you are visiting with kids. Keep stroller with you as it’s lot of walking. Also bring your own water bottles and snacks. Water bottle is was like $3 and flavored ice was like $7!

Absolutely stunning! You must try and get a ticket to take the elevator to the top. Your best chance is to get in line around 8:30 in the morning before they start passing them out at 9:00 AM. They give away between 200 - 250 tickets they told us in person today. Unless you can plan a month in advance then you can scoop up some tickets that way.

Washington Monument, oh towering monument! Raised in honor of the father of our nation, Symbol of liberty, valor, and activism, Pillar of democracy and justice in action. Your imposing silhouette rises, Above the city that unfolds around you, High above, like a guiding light that reminds, Of the feats of history that time cannot undo. By day, the sun caresses you with affection, And by night, the stars illuminate you, Imprinting in every line, in every wrinkle, The power and grandeur that emanate from you. Washington Monument, oh majestic tower! Proud of you, we are, That looking at you, we fill with prose, And feel part of the nation that sustains us all. In you, the essence of the United States is present, The liberty that pulses in our veins, And the beauty of a noble and resilient people, Who honor themselves and all those who sustain them.

Awesome! Make sure you take a visit to the top, you can see EVERYTHING from there. The view is amazing! You can book a day or two ahead of time, or show up in the morning of the day you want to go around 9AM. Tickets are free. We didn't know you could go up there, and it ended up being one of the main highlights of our trip to DC!

This is a must-see if you are visiting D.C.! The building is spectacular, and with limited availability, it means that you only go up with around 6 other people. The staff have a good sense of humour and the view from the top is both spectacular and breathtaking. There are also rooms underneath the viewpoint showcasing information on the building which is very interesting. Definitely recommend booking this!

You can go to the top for free!! You have to reserve tickets the day before (you can't do it earlier), make an account first because tickets "sell out" in literally a minute, so you have to be quick. If you do get tickets, it's definitely worth it (bc its free). Otherwise the view is still amazing from standing on the ground!

I did not take the opportunity to go up in the monument last time I visited. I took the opportunity to go up in monument this time and do not regret it! The views from the top were amazing. Hearing the history behind the monument was incredible. The staff were great and very knowledgeable. I would recommend getting your tickets in advance; however, there are usually some last minute “day of” tickets if needed (which is what I did).

One of a kind experience visiting the top of the Washington Monument. Tickets were extremely hard to obtain, but the actual experience was incredibly cool. Small groups take an elevator to the top of the Monument, where you can see breathtaking views of D.C. Also a great (albeit small) ser of exhibits explaining the history of the Monument. National Park Service guides were super helpful and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!

The Washington Monument is a sleek and tall (555ft) building in Washington, D.C. which can be noticeably visible from any place/point nearby.. I saw it from US capital building which is far from this... built to show respect for George Washington, the first President of the United States. surrounding by US flags... green lawns... which make its beauty even more beautiful..great for walk, biking..from front of this US Capital Building is visible and from back of it.. Lincoln memorial is visible.. and the one side white house is situated!!..which makes it a perfect spot for the photography too....but i loved the green surrounding very much..

I recently visited the Monument in Washington, and let me tell you, it was absolutely mind-blowing! As an explorer, I wasn't sure what to expect, but man, oh man, was I blown away! The sheer size of the Monument is insane, and the view from the top is totally worth the climb. You can see the whole city from up there! 🌆✨ It's like being on top of the world, and it's such a cool feeling. Plus, the history behind it is fascinating. I mean, it's a symbol of the nation's foundation and the people who fought for their freedom. It's pretty powerful stuff. If you're ever in Washington, make sure to check out the Monument. It's a must-visit and will leave you in awe. Trust me, you won't regret it! 🇺🇸🙌

A must see when in DC. At least if it is your first visit. Amazing views from the observation level. Timed passes are required through the National Park Service but they are free. Get them online ahead of time. Earlier in the day is better during the summer, you wait in the sun outside.

Great place to visit and to take the tour up to the top. As of 2022 you need to reserve your spot at least 1 day in advance at 10a and choose a time. $1 per person non refundable. The staff was friendly. Worth the visit if you have the time.

A must see in D.C. It’s like the Eiffel Tower in Paris, even though you’ve seen it a thousand times in pictures and movies, it’s something special and unforgettable to see in person. The entire National Mall area is an incredible place to visit and the Washington Monument is the crown jewel.

  • 5/5 Amy B. 2 years ago on Google
This was much bigger than I ever expected! It was amazing to see this monument. We did our own tour and used the lime electric scooters and our phones to go around and see every monument. It was a blast!

  • 4/5 Nate C. 2 years ago on Google
An iconic place to see for sure. However, in my opinion, the architecture isn't breath-taking - it is pretty, but it's simply tall. The reflection pool is what is cool and known from so many movie shots. It's definitely a place to take pictures and check out, but I wouldn't put it as a "must-see" if you're time is crunched while in DC.

  • 5/5 Irek F. 7 months ago on Google
The Washington Monument is one of the most recognizable buildings. It's worth going to the very top for the view of Washington DC. Tickets must be ordered before arrival, or try to buy them in the morning on the day of your visit. A fantastic experience, we recommend it.

Hands down one of the most iconic monuments in DC. We just love this area in the National Mall so much that we got up at 4:30 am, to get some nice photos of the sunrise at the monument and they turned out great. We came back for sunset and took some really nice pictures from the reflecting pool, the orange tones look incredible. The place was crowded, but that is expected, specially during memorial weekend. I recommend getting the scooters around the area to move through the various memorials 🛴❤️🌄

Such an iconic site in the heart of Washington DC. Whether you come by in the daytime or the night, the views of this monument are fantastic and so many chances for great pictures. Off in the distance at night you can also get a great view of the state capitol building. Beautiful views. 5/5. Definitely check it out. _____________________________________________________ Follow me for more reviews, tips and photos.

One of our favorite places to visit when we’re in the city. Our little has been forced to take so many iconic photos here and hopefully one day she’ll cherish them! We battle the crowds during the peak season for fireworks and cherry blossoms, but it’s always worth it to us.

  • 5/5 Valerie S. 9 months ago on Google
Now, parking may be a challenge, but we can’t blame the monument for that. It stands tall and proud, impressing all who lay their eyes upon it. Those magnificent flags, flying high and encircling the monument, create a breathtaking scene, reminding us of the values we hold dear. 555 feet of sheer grandeur! The monument is made of marble. And not just any marble, oh no. It boasts two different colors, adding a touch of elegance and sophistication to its already awe-inspiring presence. Now, can we take a moment to appreciate the pure joy of using the word “obelisk” repeatedly? Obelisk, obelisk, obelisk! It’s like a symphony of syllables that make our hearts sing. The Washington Monument awaits, ready to provide the perfect setting for your most fabulous snapshots! You might learn a thing or two as well.

Beautiful piece of American history! Great place to walk around and relax! Tons of museums are walkable distance from the Washington monument. You can easily send the entire day just to cover things around the monument. Would recommend good walking shoes and breathable clothes if you plan to visit on a warm day!

Our visit to the Washington Monument was a highlight of our visit here in DC. The staff are helpful and knowledgeable be sure to ask them lots of questions. We asked one while in the gallery to share some history and he showed us the Crack (now fixed) that happened when an earthquake hit the DC area in 2011. We had hoped to take the stairs down from the top, but since the 2011 quake the stairs are now only used for emergencies. The views from the top are spectacular. Line up early to get your free tickets or order them online.

People who love to explore history DC is a good place to spend time. Majority of the places are self guided and no need a admission tickets. But parking is real hustle in DC. We have parked around 1 mile away from the monument and cover all attractions by walk. You need a day to walk around city taking pictures for your memories and explore history. White house from outside, world War II memorial, Lincoln memorial, reflection pool, monument all can cover in 1 day and everything is 15 min walking distance max. If you want to do guided tour for monument I would suggest plan in very advance and get the tickets booked from National Park services website.

The monument is pretty cool. Today I learned that it is supposed to honor George Washington. I went up to the top and saw the whole city and other cool stuff. The tower has a lot of history and stones with messages from different places. The people who work there were nice and smart. I had a blast at this monument and you should totally check it out. Just get a free ticket online before you go.

This monument is extraordinary. It has a beautiful and spacious park built around it which many use as a picnic area or to play sports. It's so tall that you can see it from five blocks out or more. I didn't take a trip up to the top, but being able to walk up to it was actually a really cool experience that I would recommend to anyone visiting DC for the first time.

This 555 ft marble monument was built to honor the first President of USA, George Washington. The political and military leadership of George Washington was indispensable. This is built in the shape of Egyptian obelisk. This was the tallest building in the world when it was completed. It is still world’s tallest stone structure. You need a timed ticket of an elevator for the observation deck at 500 ft to get a bird’s eye view of the capital. You have to go through the security screening. The Washington Monument is located near the west end of the National Mall, with spectacular views of the National Mall and other important memorials. This Monument has been the witness to the history that shaped our nation. Must visit if you are in Washington DC and if you can manage to get the ticket.

  • 5/5 Lauren D. 10 months ago on Google
I wish I could give this more than 5 stars. This was our best experience here in DC (so far). Yes, tickets are not fun to get, but set your alarm and try to get them when they release them because it is so worth it. There was also more than I expected inside as well. The rangers taught us quite a bit about what used to be the world's tallest building, and it really added to the experience. Then, the views. It was just spectacular. Highly recommend this tour!
