OH MY!!! Best sweet potato fries ever. I had PLNT burger earlier that day and they don’t have anything on Hip City Veg. I truly believe this was the best vegan burger I’ve ever had. The burger was very flavorful. However, the nuggets are my only complaint. They were too tiny to not come with more. It felt like I ordered them off of the kids menu. Please make your nuggets bigger or include more! Otherwise, I’m a very happy camper. Side note: Come to Boston… pretty please with a cherry on top? 🥹

There is not a lot of seating. There were some rude ladies in there sitting next to each other taking up 4 seats for the two of them taking forever so others couldn’t take a seat. Point there, not a lot of seating. We are not Vegan but wanted to try it. The smokehouse burger was good. Chicken nuggets were good too. Sweet potato fries were also good. Kale lemonade was good and the fruit punch was tasty. Overall food was good but I thought it was expensive. I thought the staff was friendly and helpful. I’d try this again during warmer weather when I don’t mind taking it to go and eating outside.

Delicious healthy fast food. Both the Udom Noodle Salad and the BFG smoothie were delicious (and refreshing for a hot summer day in DC). Even on a Sunday, the place was relatively busy at Noon. There are not many seats, so you may have to take it to go. Pricing is fair, not particularly cheap. The staff was correct. I would put it on the top of my list for healthy quick bites.

I’m glad my daughter is vegan, I’m not but it gave me the opportunity to eat here. Otherwise I never would have searched it up! Awesome burgers and sweet potato fries! The drinks were good too, Kevin(staff) recommended the kale lemonade glad he did, it was delicious. Good food made fresh, the fries really crispy, and the staff were really friendly too!

This restaurant is one I had high hopes for. But after eating here, I thought it was just ok. Nothing that great. The service was tremendous as was the location. The food quality of the chicken sandwich just wasn't there. Next time we're in DC, I'll give something else a try and maybe that'll switch my opinion. 4/5. _______________________________________________ Follow me for more reviews, tips and photos.

I was in DC for a few days for work and needed a quick bite. I went to hipcityveg and got a grilled chick'n sandwich and a milkshake. Everything is vegan here which is fantastic. The "meat" was well seasoned, tender and fried well. The sauce was spicy ranch style and pretty good. Overall, sandwich was 9/10. Only detractor would be I wish the portion was a bit bigger. I also got a seasonal thanksgiving milkshake which I think was pumpkin spice flavored. 10/10. Space is a little small so next time I would probably get it to go and eat somewhere else. Service is fast enough that if you're a fast eater, you could probably zip in and out in under 10 minutes.

The food here is out of this world! Can’t believe how good everything is here. I am in DC since two days and have already been here twice. Literally the best burgers and everything is vegan. It’s unbelievable, you have to try yourself. I will be here every day until I am leaving DC next week 😍 Please open a restaurant in Munich 🙏🏽

Came here after realizing the other store was permanently closed. I bought the chicken nuggets, sweet potato fries, regular fries, and fruit punch. Everything I bought was delicious! Sauces are very good too. Small place, I would recommend taking it to go.

I came here late night for some much needed food. It was like I'd found the holy land in the middle of the night. I got some tenders and a cookie. They were breaded/fried to perfection and served with a delicious sauce (think ketchup+mayo combo but better). Overall, everything about this evening was delightful.

Before today I haven’t been here since they first opened. Glad to see the menu has been extended. First of all the cashier Jasmine was excellent. I forgot my mask in the car and she flew me in with a fresh one. Food came out fast and hot. Nuggets we’re on point and the sauce. Not usually fan of these type of fries but they were ok. Had the turmeric drink that was a1 also real light not too sweet.

Two orders of the Chipotle Fajita Wrap and an order of sweet potato fries made us want to eat here again soon! The wraps were among the best we have had as of late; the freshness of the ingredients was exceptional. The wraps were bursting with flavor. Total bill of $33 which is on par with other vegetarian restaurants. Highly recommend

Love HipCityVeg! The food is so good and this location has late hours. I don't need vegetarian food to taste like meat but their burgers do have a meaty quality to them. Their shakes are made with organic soy ice cream which is easier for me to digest than dairy so that's another plus.

Wow, I just can say Wow. This place is amazing. Everything is so delicious and staff is very friendly. So, we arrived at Union Station and was about 20 minutes walking (it was safe). First we got a wake and bacon muffin, a sunnyside sausage muffin and a chocolate milkshake. Everything was so yummy that we decided to get another wake and bacon muffin and fries. OMG, don’t hesitate to come here. It’s heaven and YES, it’s all vegan ❤️ ps: hipcity sauce is also amazing.

Food was outstanding. The crispy hipcity ranch sandwich was delicious, and the sweet potato fries were very tasty. Great place to eat. I will be back. Vegetarian comfort food at its best.

Visiting from out of town. My non vegan sister and niece shared the Philly cheese steak with sweet potato fries and a chocolate shake. I had the fried mushroom sandwich and a strawberry shake with sprinkles. Everything was delicious. My niece didn't even notice and ate without complaint. My sister and I enjoyed every bite and were so impressed with the quality of the food. Seating was limited, but we were able to sit and eat there. Thank you for making vegan food fun and approachable, even for nonvegans!

Small casual quick meal place best for lunch. The sweet green tea was very refreshing but the tofu wrap was quite bland - very little cumin yogurt and the marinated tofu also was very light on taste. It’s probably a good choice for folks who like vegan meat. The menu was good so will try again.

I had the crispy buffalo blue sandwich, some nuggets, and the tangerine tumeric drink (not pictured). Overall, it was really good and tasted perhaps only slightly different than regular meat would. The sandwich was pretty tasty and had a little bit of spice. It didn’t feel heavy. The nuggets were also ok, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for them - still good though. Staff was nice. My biggest complaints would be the lack of indoor eating space and the price. You’re paying for expensive fast food. I would return again

I stumbled upon this place while on vacation and loved their food. But I have to say that the absolute best part was the service, there was an incredibly wonderful person behind the register by the name of Jasmine and she was extremely nice to me and my girlfriend. I asked her for recommendations and she told me to get the Udon noodle salad with sweet potato fries, both very delicious but the sweet potato fries really blew my mind. My girlfriend got a Caesar salad which was also very good. Definitely going here again when I come back to D.C, and I really hope to be attended by Jasmine again!

Very friendly staff (though I wish the cashier had worn her mask properly). Lots of menu choices and everything was cooked fresh and quite tasty. You don't even realize it's vegan because their fake chicken is so delicious. Portion sizes are generous. Seating area is limited but if the weather is nice, take your meal outside to sit on the steps to the Portrait Gallery or the lawn by the Convention Center. This is a great option if you want fast casual but need a break from Cava or Chipotle.

Suuuper yummy completely vegan fast food place!! I was pleasantly surprised. The Philly Steak is the best I've ever had! (vegan and non vegan!) And that's a lot to say! Would definitely come back next time I'm in DC

The best vegan burgers/sandwiches I’ve ever had. Honestly, could be one of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve had, vegan or not. I highly recommend the Crispy HipCity Ranch sandwich. It tastes like a fried chicken sandwich, and the sauce they have on it is delicious. And it’s still crispy after driving to my destination before eating it. The Disco Chick’n is also good. It’s a grilled chicken sandwich option with garlic aioli on it. Also very good, but my favorite is still the crispy HipCity Ranch. I got their sweet potato fries too - absolutely delicious. Crispy, crunchy, sweet, and soft on the inside. Plus it comes with 2 sauces of your choice. I recommend one of them be the sriracha aioli for a little kick. Also, try their kale lemonade. It pretty much just tastes like lemonade but it is just the right amount of sweet and very refreshing. I highly recommend it and would go way out of my way to come here. Solid 5 stars.

Wow, wow, and wow. Ordered a ziggy burger combo. A whole lot of food. Too much for one meal. Ate the fries while hot. Saved the burger for later. Didn't even warm it up. Really good cold. My first visit, will return again.

I stumbled across this place, looking for something good to eat downtown DC. And let's just say I am happy I did. I got the mushroom burger combo, and it was really good and came out in a speedy fashion. When I came in there's wasn't too many ppl in the side, but they kept coming and going while I enjoyed my food. $19 for a health choice meal wasn't bad at all. I was full and satisfied with my choice and order. The kale lemonade was really good it pared well with my meal. The cashier was somewhat insightful on the different ingredients in the food, and that was a bit helpful. Overall, I enjoyed myself the food the location and the atmosphere. If I am in DC anytime soon, I know where to get a vegan meal ‼️

It was ok. I've had better, and I've also had worse. Everything is vegan if you are plant based and need something quick to eat. The food looked like it was put together, kind of sloppy. The crispy ranch sandwich had more ranch on the side than on the sandwich. The crispy classic barely had any sauce on it. The fries tasted a bit blan. Theyy definitely used no salt or pepper. The food overall is better fresh, than reheated. If you do need to reheat, I suggest an oven or air fryer. I didn't eat in person, so I can't describe parking or the building layout.

It has been a long time since I’ve eaten at HipCity. I was in the area and most places were closed. So I gave them a go. Tried their burger for the first time, always use to get the “chicken” sandwich. It was ok. Nothing exciting, I didn’t taste any “special sauce” and the patty tasted a lot like beyond patty at PlantBurger in WF. If you’re looking for a quick plant based burger, this will suffice. Also, not sure of the new packaging… I found it a bit cumbersome and impractical. But that just me being particular, the packaging had not bearing on the burger.

Just wow! Hip City Veg elevates vegan fast food to an art form. Absolutely delicious. Popular with vegans and meat-eaters alike. The Philly Cheesesteak (vegan) is a favorite. The onion rings are next level. It's cool that this restaurant is Latina-owned. It's a popular attraction in the Gallery Place /Chinatown neighborhood. The perfect place to pop in for a bite when seeing a game, concert, museum, or visiting the MLK Library.

Yum! The tempeh bacon on the Ziggy burger is delicious. My boyfriend got the Philly, and it was really good. Only complaint is they put ketchup on it, which is unusual. I got the seasonal cherry blossom milkshake. It tasted a bit like a birthday cake flavor. I liked it a lot :)

One of the best vegan Burger i ate. Great toppings and delicious falvors. Suggestion to upgrade the fries and add more flavor options. And maybe more options to drink.

I love the food here so much. There are no locations in the Midwest, so whenever I visit either Philly or DC I have to eat here. I'm vegetarian, have been for many years, and I will never get over the joy of finding places where I can eat anything on the menu. Pictured is the Crispy Hipcity Ranch and the seasonal Love Shake. Delicious!

  • 3/5 Mark M. 10 months ago on Google
Really delicious. Really nice to have a no-think vegan place. But the prices are out of control across the whole menu. $6 for 4 onion rings. Not 4 orders of onion rings. 4 onion rings total.

Love Love love the flavor & taste! Their drinks make a good combo as well! Happy we can sink our teeth into tasty burger without too much guilt!

Hipcityveg has great food. Their HipCity ranch and nuggets are my favorite thing to get. I’d say stay away from their burgers, they’re a tad dry for my liking, esp when the chick’n is so good. They also have my fave vegan shakes in the city there, black and whites are my fave

  • 5/5 Tati M. 1 year ago on Google
This is a healthy, vegan/vegetarian, fast food restaurant. You eat here and you won't leave your body feeling 'bleh'. However, if you're looking for something inexpensive, this isn't the place for you. As one would say, "Good food isn't Cheap, and Cheap food isn't Good". They also have a BFG (Blended Fruits & Vegetables) Smoothie that's freshly made at the restaurant. The smoothie isn't overly sweet, you can tell it's fresh like you made it at home. The cost of it ranges between $5-10 just depends on the size. Is it worth it? In my opinion... No. You could just make it yourself. The meals usually come in one size unless they're a nugget meal. There aren't many places to sit and eat, so when you see one take it while you can. Overall: I would eat here again. Not too often because it could be a pocket drainer. It has a quiet atmosphere, but it's a small restaurant with very limited seats. They have a restroom for paying customers. Most importantly, the food tastes good and it makes you feel good!

Top notch vegan food. The service is great the staff is very patient and thorough in their explanations of menu items. You must try the seasonal apple pie shake, it's Excellent.

Friendly staff and they suggested an item that was SUPERB! If you're vegan, this is 100 percent one of the must try places in DC without a doubt. When we come visit again I'm making sure I come back to try more options! Not too pricey and they hook you up with the food!
