We were staying at Hampton across the street, and decided to try their happy hour at F&D. Prices were good. Staff was excellent & really hustling. We didn’t have to wait long for food and drink. The spicy pork riblets were just okay - not much meat. He really wanted the hot dog ($6) and tater tots ($4), but they didn’t have them. Huge disappointment. I enjoyed my shrimp spring roll & Margarita (wanted it sweeter, though). The Margarita packed a punch! Or I’m a lightweight. Or both! I would have tried the other Spring Rolls, but hubby wanted something more to eat, and nothing on the menu appealed to him. Oh, well. Can’t please everyone.

Love this place! My husband and I went here for our anniversary and then again for his birthday! It’s definitely a treat. The half pound Louie is AMAZING! Drinks are pricey but tasty. The food is SOOOO good. Will definitely be back for special occasions!

A bit high end but the prices reflect the quality. We stopped here for dinner Saturday the 18th around 730. Our server Justin was great providing suggestions for cocktails (made with their own liquor) and food. We ended up doing appetizers for dinner and drinking a few rounds of delicious cocktails favorites included the bread platter, the barrel aged old fashioned and the bourbon maple smash. After it was all over we wished we had ordered from their excellent dinner options and hope to come back and try more of their excellent food.

The restaurant is very, very loud once it gets full. But the food is always good and staff is always friendly. It isn’t amazing food, but it is consistent, worth the price, and you get a good size portion so you’re not hungry. We had the fried green tomatoes which were cooked perfect and that’s hard to do. My friend had the scallops and risotto. There was supposed to be crispy Brussels sprouts with it, but they only put one in. It was an accident, but not an acceptable one. They’re literally one of the three things in the dish. I had the pastrami sandwich. It was buttery and fresh. My fries were not good, but the sandwich made up for it.

All around 5 star. We tried a burger and a salad and the fried checked and waffle. Delicious food and such friendly service. It did take a bit to get the food so if you’re not in a hurry - this is the place to go. The recommendations from our server were great as well. Thank you for such a great experience. We will be coming back.

Neat restaurant idea with lots of interesting drinks. The food was okay, not bad, but not spectacular. My husband's entree salad was surprisingly small. My chicken was good but nothing special. The sweet potato side was my favorite part. They have gluten free options, but the focus is certainly on gluten. Lots of possible cross contamination.

The restaurant overall decor is the BOMB, so clean and the workers are so informative and The drink I attempted to drink was their Strawberry and ginger Margarita (You have to love Ginger) overall the drink was good and I loved it. The crab and Artichoke dip was good wasn’t hot like in favor but was good. the burger was good as well need a little more seasoning however it was a 9/10 recommendation

Wow, this restaurant was fabulous! We started with the bread board. The cornbread with the honey butter were to die for! The cocktails and fish and chips were also delicious. And then, I saved room for dessert. Sooo delicious. I ordered the summer peach sundae and the Blueberry Jefferson filled donut for breakfast. Amazing. Highly recommend this restaurant for the variety alone! Something for everyone...

A fancy yet dressed down restaurant with an eclectic wide-ranging menu that includes everything from Chinese food, to Italian food with fresh pasta, to fried chicken with donuts. Donuts. If you look on the Google maps, all you'll see is pictures of chicken and donuts so I had to try it. I am very versed and chicken and waffles and the key to chicken and waffles is mixing the sweet with spice. And you do that by adding hot sauce to your chicken. Eating it with your waffles with syrup. It's no different here. They provide their own homemade hot sauce as well as a white gravy. I went with a large group, everyone tried something different and everyone enjoyed what they liked. We also tried a lot of the appetizers and also enjoyed all of those. The service was great and our waiter recommended some of the best items off the menu. I really enjoyed the vibe and it was a place I could hang out at all night. They also had a bar with a large selection of both beer and wine. They distill their own liquors there. So if you order vodka or bourbon, your choices will be limited often having to drink only theirs. However, I did enjoy their liquor quite considerably.

We went for DC Restaurant Week to do their lunch menu. We asked the waitress whether they’re still doing the special and she said yes, except that it wouldn’t start until after 3pm (we went at noon). Mind you, the Restaurant Week special is not a set menu at this place, so it was a bit strange that they wouldn’t let us do it. We saw the breakfast brunch set up and it looked incredibly cramped and people didn’t have much room to move around to get food. It’s not a very big space and it felt as if everyone was on top of each other trying to navigate through the place.

Went for brunch and OH MAN! I wish I could eat here every day. The dishes were all so delicious and perfectly cooked. The Benedict’s are not to be missed, the scrambled eggs melt in your mouth, the French toast with banana foster topping made me want to go back for thirds, and the rest all kept me eating much more than I should have. The brunch is more on the 4.8 stars rating, you have to try it!

This was a really cute place to have a both creative and comfy buffet brunch on the weekend. They had a wide range of breakfast and lunch options. Everything was cooked well, the areas were kept clean, and didn't seem to sit long. Their dessert buffet was delicious and cute. Guests were respectful and wore masks at the buffet. As busy as it was, it was a nice dining experience. The espresso machine was broken and $4 for plain coffee seems like too much however everything else was great. They serve brunch until technically 2pm however it's not a hard time as they still serve buffet a little after for the late comers. The $30 brunch buffet cost might be a little high if you are running low on time so I would suggest arriving early and making the most of the experience. Also, it's very popular so I recommend making a reservation as well.

Delicious brunch buffet!! Shrimp, prime rib, chicken, salmon, french toast, salad, desserts... a good spread of food items to choose from. We visited on Christmas and everyone was friendly, food was delicious and overall it was a fun atmosphere. We are locals and love the brunch buffet offerings on Sat and Sun. Compared to previous Christmas buffets we felt it was way better organized and food did not run out when we were there. We will be back! Some takeaways- the bread basket spread for the table was unnecessary. Most of the items were on the buffet so I say save the kitchen time. Also dessert in general was a little limited compared to normal buffet weekends which was a surprise. Also, what about all those in-house made chocolates? Some day I am hopeful we will be able to have a try ;) That being said all the desserts and food in general are delicious. We have never had a bad meal! Also we recently tried some drinks made with their in-house vodka. Excellent! Thank you for making our Holiday meal the best!!

Absolutely delicious. A smorgasbord of goodness. The only downside is that my stomach wasn’t big enough to eat everything I wanted. Also - waitstaff was great!! AND they have those cool pay at the table checks, very convenient and easy to spilt a bill.

Loved this restaurant so much - had to google their other locations. We went to DC for a weekend, and breakfast here was one of the highlights! Only thing I was upset about: we were not too hungry for brunch buffet, which looked absolutely delicious. But a great reason to come back!! Bought their original bourbon that waits for a special occasion. Would love to come back or check out other locations!

Service has always been stellar, no question. The food was good, but for the price point, there is a higher expectation. The bread on my Reuben was dry and the meat was slightly overcooked, giving it a very chewy texture. Fries were cooked perfectly. Just the right amount of saltiness. Overall, it was a good diner experience.

d have hoped (like their salmon bites and pancakes). However, some things were delicious like their crab onion dip. Their restaurant is super pretty though and seems like a great place for dinner. There’s ample seating (indoor and outdoor). Price for the brunch buffet was 32.50 per person (so $65 for 2). I think this price is borderline ok just because I like the wide selection they had but didn’t meet my expectations on taste. I’m a little sad I paid that much but maybe I’ll come back for dinner at another time. Overall, if you made a reservation in advance and come here you’ll have a good time.

The food looked good.. that is about all I can say. Neither I nor my party of 4 were satisfied with the food or with the below mediocre service that was received. The manager recognized that several orders never came and while the waiter ignored us the entire time for whatever reason, the manager offered to pay for one guest meal as if the other 3 were invisible. I wanted to like this place, but this visit will be my first and my last.

I loved the atmosphere, the line was quite long as it was weekend so I sat on the bar. The service was slow especially as I couldn’t get my coffee and I had to ask bartender to do so. The quality of wood was good but a little greasy in some dishes. The variety was great especially in cakes and desserts.

Cornbread and sourdough bread appetizers were very good. If I could only have one, it would be the cornbread. The prime rib was supposed to be medium rare, but came out mostly well done with a large fat nodule in the middle. Waitstaff was friendly but kept forgetting requests. For example, never did get our iced tea glass back when it was taken away for a refill.

Incredible food and service. Interesting menu choices, very unique. Loved the cherry blossom dessert. The noodles in the cumin lamb dish were so good. Large variety of wonderful cocktails too!! Definitely get the dumplings appetizer, it is so good!

The service and atmosphere were nice. We sat at the bar because we were there during peak dinner hours. They were very attentive with fast service. We ordered the garlic peppered wings which are super delicious especially with the lime. The cheeseburger was basic nothing special. The onion rings were very over cooked. The veggie burger was very bland thank goodness for hot sauce to give it some flavor. Also the veggie burger resembles a uncooked burger which is also a turn off.

I generally like all the Founding Farmers restaurants. Their food is usually good. The dishes I had at the most recent visit weren't the best. The Chicken Curry needed some salt. The Sweet Potato spring rolls were too mushy for my liking. The hibiscus sofa was fairly tasty. The skillet cornbread was decent.

Add this to our places of must eats in DC! Our server Ashlyn was phenomenal and we will def ask for her next time. The food is fresh and very well made- you honestly can’t go wrong with anything you choose here. We had the signature margarita and the sunstone Colin’s- both excellent drinks. The cornbread as an app was perfect and just enough before the mains. My partner had the pot roast which he loved, and I did the fried chicken and donut (yes a donut but it paired well!). Everything was perfect and tasted very fresh. No room for dessert. We loved this place and you Will too.

Overall, good for the price. I was a tad disappointed in the freshness of the food. Although its buffet style, the food presentation just seemed not appeasing. Much of it is really good while the other half is hit or miss. Although the presentation may not be appeasing. Get the fried chicken, dip, pancakes, waffles, fried rice, bacon, fish and some of the desserts. I would have probably preferred to order something off the regular menu. But for the price you can’t beat a buffet at Founding Farmers.

This place came highly recommended and rightfully so. Gluten free options are not marked on the menu and the waitress was unsure, but she was very willing to communicate with the kitchen staff. I had the garden salad with truffle dressing—yum!—for my starter, and lamb chops with mashed potatoes, since the fried potatoes are in a shared fryer. Unbelievable good food! The lamb was perfect! Also, they had great drip coffee. Hubby had the kale salad and fish and chips. He was very happy.

Overall it was a positive experience. I thought the burger was good as was the tequila with egg whites. We reserved the outside area with the plastic around it and on the website it was $20 per person. It did come with the popcorn, but we DID NOT get the flights of whiskey which was promised on the website. I'm guessing the owner realized this because he gave us the desserts for free after we ordered them, but never mentioned the flights himself.

Had brunch on a Saturday around noon, place was packed. Gotta make reservations ahead of time if you don't wanna wait 30 minutes. The brunch buffet was great, especially when the food came out fresh. Some dishes were better than others, but its a buffet so just get what you like. Value is okay, drinks is where they'll get you. One and done epitomizes this place!

We just love this place and this chain. We had fried green tomatoes as an appetizer; entrees of shrimp and grits, pot roast, and chicken fried steak with doughnut. I was torn because the seafood combo looked good too. I am a rum drinker so had their rum. It is so smooth it can be consumed on the rocks. I have bottles at home. Be careful though, their navy strength rum is potent but still smooth. Finished it off with the Virginia peanut butter pie and peanut butter cups to go. They have great doughnuts as well and liquor other than rum. We do recommend it.

The food was delicious, and we left nothing on our plates! I never finish my food, but it tasted so good I forgot to stop! The server Neubys (I think) was welcoming, friendly, and attentive. The atmosphere visually felt upscale but the hostesses was so warm and charming we felt comfortable and right at home. We were just visiting but it I lived close by this would be my regular spot! We had a cronut on the way out....yum!

Had a great brunch experience so decided to go back the next day. Felt like a totally different place. Service was excruciatingly slow to the point where we got another server to bring some of our items and our bill. I started timing how long it took for everything. 10 minutes just to get our drinks which was a tea and a Chai latte. And it was very slow maybe 4 other tables in the entire restaurant. Who were having the same issue as us. We were all just looking around for our server. The fried chicken, although very delicious, had more batter on it than meat. I prefer to go when they are crazy busy. I felt more taken care of then.

Everything was AMAZING! We tried to go on a Saturday evening and there were people waiting everywhere and I understand why. We gave it another shot a few days later and was able to snag a table for 2. We ordered the fried green tomatoes, kettle corn (hot, fresh and to die for) and crab cake sandwiches and were blown away. I will definitely be back on my next visit to DC.

I was there with granddaughter while on a visit to DC. Menu was interesting. I decided to order a salad and asked for olives to be left out. That did not happen. Server offered to change it but at that point I did not want to wait any longer. I was sorry for that decision as there were a huge number of them in salad. Server was pleasant and helpful but when we needed her it was always a long wait until she appeared. Granddaughter's hamburger was just fine. Her lemon-lime drink was way too tart. We did get some simple syrup which made it better. We also got their home baked bread. The additional butter we requested never showed up. Also when it was delivered we had no utensils to use and we did not get them right away. Server was busy with other tables. All in all a nice place with interesting menu but fell short on service and requests.

You. Have. To. Come. Here. If you love deep fried food, there's no option for you to not experience this place. Yes, get the fried chicken! Yes, get the onion rings! And the beignets... you cannot leave without experiencing that too. It's other worldly! And that red drink, Farmer's Daughter... get two! Fruity and amazing! Come here hungry and leave more satisfied than should be allowable!

I shared a great brunch here with friends. The service was outstanding. Highly recommend the biegnets as a treat to share after a savory breakfast. A reservation for a weekend brunch is strongly recommended! Otherwise be prepared for a long wait.

The atmosphere and service is great! The ingredients are clearly fresh! The food was good. The pork chop was a little salty but the flavor was delicious! Other than that the pork chop is a good choice. We did not realize they close at 1000 and arrived at 0915 and the staff was very accommodating. There are so many dessert options but, I would say for dessert steer from the cookies as they weren’t too great.

We had breakfast at the other location so we decided to try dinner for our last night here in DC. Barrett was our server and she gave great suggestions and never let our water go empty. The food was great and the drinks were great as well. You can take some drinks to go or even take a bottle.

Breakfast was good but you might want to make a reservation since it seems they're busy on weekends. We chose to skip the buffet and just order a la carte. We were seated in a very back corner in like an addition area which was really warm due to a lack of air flow. We got the veggie scramble, hash browns, and a blueberry muffin all of which were really good. The muffin was pretty large and enough on its own. Our server was really nice and attentive and brought me extra ice when I asked for it. The buffet area is small... It's really one long table that you can grab from and a lot of people walk past it since the area is pretty crowded. I don't think it's worth getting unless you really like breakfast a lot. We came back here for dinner since the place was close by. We got chicken and waffles which were really good and a decent size. The drunken noodles were pasta noodles that they covered with way too much soy sauce, it was pure salt. Don't get that! I asked the server if one of the dishes has diary to which he could not answer. They need to be better trained since the correct response should be "I'm not sure, but I'll go check with the kitchen real quick". Breakfast was decent, dinner was more disappointing. Would consider coming back here as a casual place. Definitely seems like it's a hit or miss sometimes and with some dishes.

We stopped here for dinner while in DC. Wife recommended this for their food and craft drinks. I only took photos of the drinks and forgot the food again. Drinks were great (pic shows Farmers Daughter (front) and a Cider). Food was a bit disappointing though. The Southern Fried Chicken & Waffle was the best one out of the meals. Plenty of food and the chicken was moist. Seven Cheese Macaroni came out luke warm at best and it was noted he didn't really taste 7 cheeses, just cheddar. The Three Cheese Raviolli & Meatball Brodo came out hot and looked delicious. They forgot my spoon for it though. It took several minutes before I could enjoy it. The broth taste was lacking as it just seemed to be water (hardly any stock at all). Overall cost was $150 for the three of us with drinks (before tip). Service was a bit lacking, but it was Fathers Day, so will give them a pass for that (maybe as still upset the spoon took so long to get).

This company has a few different locations. They all have a different menu based on the area that they are located in, I think that is great. Though at this place. The fried chicken was great. The french fries if you get them freshly hot or super good. The mac and cheese is not even average. They need to do better on that. The garlic parmesan knots. Those are a must buy and the cornbread. Also my glass was chipped in two different places. I don't know how that made it onto the service floor

  • 3/5 Mikkela T. 9 months ago on Google
The food was all cold or lukewarm but we did get a hot order of replacement fries when we asked for it. The Dan Dan noodles were way too salty to be eaten. The service was good but far between.

Had breakfast here on a busy Fourth of July. We chose to not get the all you can eat brunch and had the normal breakfast menu. The roasted vegetable egg white scramble with a farm salad was absolutely excellent. As someone who eats egg whites with vegetables almost daily, this was more tasty than anything I’ve ever cooked. The salad was also very good and it was nice to get a full pot of tea leaves vs just a bag of tea that seems common at restaurants. The food took quite some time to come out (~35 mins), but it was worth it. Not very crowded at 9:15a, packed at 10:15a.

The food is well prepared and very delicious. I tried the New York steak, with vegetables and a baked potato 🥔 👍👍👍 Give it a try if you're in the area. The service is excellent and the staff is very friendly. Our waitress was very polite and took our order correct the first time around 🙏 Atmosphere is also great. Good music, clean restaurant and comfy booth. Thank you and we'll be sure to visit again next time we're in Washington DC 😎

I came here for Sunday brunch. What a disappointment. I know people love an all you can eat buffet but the food here was mediocre at best. The crowd was so large that we had to wait for a table even though we had a reservation. They never refilled or were slow to refill dishes ev$n though we were there at noon. The food stations were often filthy, the eggs were cold, and the hash browns looked terrible. The staff was friendly though they all looked pretty harried. There are many wonderful places to have brunch in D.C. but this is not one of them. I am genuinely surprised this place gets great reviews. Perhaps some people value quantity over quality?
