First, don’t hesitate. Just go. I’ve never been here before, but they were sooo nice. I never tried vegan Jamaican food before 😍😍 I got some vegan meat that’s looked like brown stew beef and vegan mac and cheese with rice and peas. And that strawberry lemonade is 10/10

Price $30 via DoorDash Dry food, bland food very flavorless taste, Hard meat Cury chicken 0 dry they gave me all white meat there was no juice in the chicken and the meat was mushy to chew. Cury chicken is made with DARK meat to make it juicy and succulent, Fall off the bone good. Rice & beans 10 it was great Mac & cheese 10 BUT there was vegetables in the Mac n cheese. Cabbage 0 they had the right ingredients and they were spicy but they are not fried or sautéed so they taste bland beyond the spicy flavor. Taste like spicy water Overall if I had gotten dark meat I would have enjoyed this meal but I was given dry white mushy meat. My kids who aren’t picky eaters said they could not eat the chicken either so it went to the trash 🥲

Great tasting Caribbean food. Traditional menu items include curries, jerk, stews… vegan options available. Must haves—-Bussup shot, roti, and fish … holiday treats —-fruit/black cakes are delicious, pastelles are savory so do good…and all the holiday drinks are delicious…sorrel and ginger beer are a must have.

I was disgusted by the restroom downstairs. At 12 o'clock in the day before opening your business ,proper inspection should be done to insure everything is sanitized. The food was not tasty. The spiciness and no salt made the dish unpleasant. Not sure if it was just me or I came on the wrong day but overall I was disappointed by that place. I brought my friend with me and they also agreed it didn't taste good.

Vegan trini food. I was in the mood for jerk chicken but that place didn’t open up so we came down the street to here. I called to check that they were open. For 13 bucks, I got jerk chicken (not spicy) and two sides. The server said that callaloo is like spinach. It’s stewed collards. The food is plentiful and good. The AC was broken when we got in. We were given a free portion of pholari (Pollari?) which is fried dough balls with a Indian style spicy pickle. It was yummy. The counter of prepared food had many vegan options. While we ordered, a man picked up trays of food for a catered event. The man who served us had a particular casual style that some might find too personal. He then served us one at a time. Visiting Georgia avenue is a different cultural experience.

Best Caribbean food in DC hands down! They have an amazing selection of vegan options, sweet BBQ, jerk 'chickn', the potatoes chickpea curry, and Mac n cheese is my favorite! Friendly mom and pop shop, highly recommend!!

First of all I am Caribbean so I know good traditional food when I taste it! This food was soooo good! Delicious and flavored to perfection! I loved everything, Even the guy who I placed my order with. He was hilarious and we had a few laughs as he fixed my order. This is my new favorite Caribbean spot.

I was so excited to find a Trini restaurant, where I could share the culture with my family. I’m so glad I chose this place. I ordered a little bit of everything and it was well worth every penny! The portions were huge, the flavor was there, and everyone was so nice. The fresh juices were also delicious. My only recommendation is to not use Seamless…there’s nothing seamless about their process (they cancel orders)! I will be back, trust!

Everything that I tried was tantalizing. It has been so long since I've had authentic Jamaican food, and I felt lucky to roll 'snake eyes' by ordering from the right place on my first try. If I had known that the portions were going to be so healthy, I may have ordered differently, but I'm glad that I ordered different dishes anyway. Mostly everything was seasoned to perfection; I would've liked a little bit more flavor on the oxtails; still, they were expertly cooked with meat that was juicy and melting off the bone. If you’re a ginger lover, the homemade ginger drink will uplift as much as it pleases. If I could stay in DC longer, I would order everything on the menu at least once.

Sunrise is amazing. I recently had them cater my wedding (which I hosted at home for a small group of family and friends) and it was such a success and far exceeded expectations. My partner and I were already fans for Sunrise but they really outdid themselves for our event. We ordered jerk chicken, rice and peas, potato and chickpea curry, plantains, vegan jerk (the surprise star of the event), macaroni pie, and sorrel. Everyone was asking where we got the food and my father who was raised in Jamaica won't stop asking for me to bring him more of their jerk! I also can't wait to go back. I had a little bit of trouble getting in touch with them initially to make the order but once I did they were incredibly helpful in terms of planning the meal and quantities needed for my guests, how I should serve it, and pick up was very easy too. I can't recommend them enough, both as a place to get good Caribbean food but also as a personable business.

Wow!!! I hope it’s always this good!!! this is only my first time eating at this place but wow!!🙌🏼🫶🏼❤️So good! I don’t understand some of these negative reviews... I mean every restaurant can have a bad day... but this was my experience... found them randomly on Uber eats looking for Caribbean food... ordered with my fingers crossed... • Fish and chips • Curry goat • beans and rice • cabbage •doubles •patty and coco bread • Trini black cake 7 outta 7 Wow!!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Goat- was tender and the spices were amazing!!! The portion was very big... The packaging was really nice... next, even though it was delivered (you know how it is when you order fried food) the fish was still pretty good. The cabbage was maybe the best I’ve ever had! And I have tried many many... It was cut right...perfect blend of other ingredients..cooked and seasoned perfectly..!!! I had never had a double before… That was delicious... and my God the Trini black cake❤️❤️❤️!!!!! Anyway… I’ll be eating there again soon… Will probably stop by and pick it up myself… Or eat there if they have open dine in... Peace and blessings✌️🏼💗👨🏼‍🎨 @jesse.mine

The food is good. I had the vegan jerk chicken and vegan pineapple chicken. Good. The prices are good and the sides. Mac n cheese, cabbage, rice and lentils. The people are nice and it is so flavorful. It was recommended by a friend. Thus was good. Definitely try again.

The vegan jerk and bbq is out of this world! The vegan Mac and cheese is also phenomenal! I wish we could have tried the broccoli tempura but they were all out because it's so popular. Next time! We'll be back soon!

Fantastic home-style food. Everything is made fresh daily from rote to oxtail to juices. Great vegetarian and vegan options in addition to plenty for the carnivores.

They rotate out certain dishes. It happened to be the two dishes I wanted most. The patties were good. Jerk chicken and sides were seasoned well. I'd go back.

Hmmm. Well, where to start. Initially, just walking in, it felt like home. The friendly Trini greetings and sweet soca playing. Then the food was a trip back home. The portions were huge. The dhalpourie was soft and tasted great. The curry chicken and stewed chicken were both perfectly cooked. The highlight was the pepper sauce, which to me wasn't too hot but really really tasty. Also after our stay even though they do polourie on Friday and Saturday, we were given complimentary polourie which when paired with the tamarind (tambran)sauce was heavenly. We had a really great experience with really enjoyable ppl. Great food, great taste, wonderful place.

I visited this establishment over the weekend at the Baltimore vegan food festival. After reading so many great reviews I was beyond excited to try it. Unfortunately, that excitement died very quickly. The service was subpar. I overheard one of the workers going back and forth with another customer. The food was mediocre and damn near cold. Maybe it was just a bad day but if you are going to represent your company at a vegan food festival I would expect better service, better food and way better pricing.

The macaroni pie and stew chicken were delicious! Taste just like home- cooked Trini food. It was very well seasoned, very healthy portion and great price. Definitely will be back.

If you're in the mood for some delicious Caribbean cuisine, Sunrise Caribbean Restaurant is definitely worth a visit. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with warm hospitality and the inviting aromas of authentic island dishes. The restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes, ranging from classic Jamaican jerk chicken to Trinidadian doubles. I had the pleasure of trying the oxtail stew, which was cooked to perfection with tender meat and rich, flavorful spices. The sides were equally impressive, with perfectly cooked rice and peas and sweet plantains that complemented the savory flavors of the main dish. What really stood out to me about Sunrise Caribbean Restaurant was the quality of the ingredients. Each dish was made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and you could really taste the difference. The portions were also generous, making it a great value for the price. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also delightful, with colorful decorations and music that transported me to the islands. The staff was friendly and attentive, making the dining experience all the more enjoyable. Overall, I would highly recommend Sunrise Caribbean Restaurant to anyone looking for authentic Caribbean cuisine. The quality of the food, warm hospitality, and inviting atmosphere make it a standout among restaurants in the area. If you're a fan of island flavors, don't miss out on this fantastic dining destination.

I love this place. Excellent food. I feel like I am in the West Indies when I go here. The women cooking the food know what they are doing. This place is incredible. And worth every dollar you spend there and more.

This was by far the best soul Caribbean food I have had in my life. I pride myself of trying the best restaurants when I travel. This took the cake; What struck me about this place was that everything was made with love. You could literally see the lady cooking the food like you would see your grandma. Everything was cooked to perfection.

Went on Super Bowl Sunday and the food was so good. The staff are really nice and we enjoyed the game together. Definitely would go again. The staff were a little disorganized with orders but the food was delicious.

They have a nonchalant attitude which isn’t great and I had gotten a goat curry and later started throwing up and had the runs …. Also no gloves while dealing with food and money … didn’t wash hands not once … never again :/

My wife and I were in Washington, D.C., on business. I was looking for a Caribbean restaurant so I could surprise her. I found Sunrise Caribbean Restaurant on Yelp, and it came highly recommended. I hired a lift and didn’t tell her where we were going. When we arrived at the restaurant, she was so surprised. Just seeing the smile on her face melted my heart. We ordered two chicken rotis, two aloo pies, and a slice of black cake. We spent $59.19 and were eager to return to our hotel to taste the food. I spent two months in India; I am married to a Trinidad woman who cooks curry because I love everything curry, so I speak from experience. The food was horrible, horrible, horrible. The roti lacked the curry color, and the flavors weren’t authentic to Trinidad. Additionally, the potato pieces were too big. Second, the aloo pies were full of tasteless filling. Third, the black cake was dry, tasteless, and lacking alcohol. We had to throw it in the trash because the food was inedible. What a waste of $50.19 and a $9.00 tip.

Today I went in for some roti and they didn’t have because it’s a weekday. so I tried the rice and peas, stew chicken and Macaroni and cheese. Boy when I tell you they sold me spoiled rice and peas I was dumbfounded, No Trinidadian would make that and sell that rice and peas that’s just 100%. So I went back to switch out my rice and let them know the rice was spoil. The owner and chef came to the front saying it’s not “that just the smell” I damn near begged him to just try it for my own sanity, this man tries it and says it’s fine. That when I knew this place was over with 😭 sadly tbh. The owner had a really bad attitude and got offended that I came back and was letting him know “hey you’ll loose customer if you sell that rice” because me I know there aren’t many Trinidadian spots that are close, being Trinidadian myself I was happy there was one close by, pretty much he got defensive and kept saying I had bad taste … mind you this is like the 3rd time I’ve been there this month alone. Tbh I’d hope if I came in respectfully they’d hear me out because I did like the some of the food prior to this. The roti and double are ok for the area but get soggy . There’s usually a lady “Mommy” who is usually there when I go and she is very sweet and welcoming but that owner is rude I won’t suggest eating here. If you don’t believe after this .. try the rice and peas 🤷🏾‍♂️. Oh also I tipped …. Waste of money. Guess American Popeyes it is lol Y’all stay safe
