I wish I could give zero stars for this emergency department. I came in with severe pain in my abdomen and was asked to wait in the waiting room. A few minutes after some more excruciating pain I got up to tell the front desk that I cannot handle the pain. I ended up passing out before I can reach the desk. One of the most embarrassing moments of my life had to be when I was treated like a junkie waiting for hours in the hallway begging to see a doctor. One of the ER nurses named Ashley with glasses and straight brown hair completely ignored me while I was begging to be seen by a doctor, only to come back and tell me it might be hours until I will be seen and that I’m free to leave. I, a grown woman was laying there crying for my mother in pain. When I was eventually seen I was told I was experiencing an Ectopic Pregnancy and Internal Bleeding with about a litre of blood in my stomach. I went into the ER department around 7pm and wasn’t seen by any medical professionals until around 3am. Could have died waiting in the hallways of this hospital. I Thank God only half of my uterus was taken from me and not my life.

Was at hospital on a Wednesday at 5pm. Waited an hour to be seen. Then directed back to waiting area! Spent 3 hours in the hallway listening to other patients complain. Put in a room waiting one hour for doctor. Waited another hour for discharge! I was dizzy so asked for a wheelchair upon leaving. The disrespectful nurse then said: “why can’t you walk?” I said I was not stable. Then she said so what will you do when you get home? My wife had to help me to the car! The total disregard and arrogance there was astounding. I spent over 6 hours there and will never set foot in that excuse for a hospital again! They should be ashamed of themselves! On top of that they never offered me even a drink of water. I had to ask. Then I was brought a styrofoam cup of tap water instead of bottled water that was probably riddled with bacteria! Do not go here if you value your health!

So you care for people on Suicide watch by being rude and making them feel uncomfortable the minute they enter the door? What a terrible hospital. If you don’t like your job, quit. Also lied and said my friend would be able to keep her phone and keep in contact yet y’all made her turn it off? Where is my friend? Now I’m concerned about her safety and being mistreated in a place that’s supposed to help her

Great staff, great experience. Everyone I interacted with was very pleasant and caring. I feel I was seen within a very acceptable amount of time and tests were ordered promptly. The ultrasound tech was great and explained everything thoroughly. My Dr. came in with my results very quickly, reviewed them with me and got me out fast. My nurse was also helpful in chasing down the medicine I needed. Great job Waterbury Hospital!

Was received in a very quick and professional manner. Everyone was very attentive. Always making me feel comfortable. While giving a thorough going over to make sure I was relieved of pain as quick as possible. Everyone was very helpful. I understand we are help in the order of severity and I really understand but I was in pain from the minute I walk in until 3 hours later through no fault of the staff. Great job Waterbury Hospital!!!

This is the worst hospital ever. I was there for 8 hours in excruciating pain. The nurse with the medium brown hair and glasses could care less when I told her I think my kidneys were e failing again. I finally got up snd drove myself a half hour away to Charlotte Hungerford in torrington. I was seen immediately and sure enough my kidneys were failing. Go to any other hospital. They did the same thing to another women who was there who needed life saving surgery for hours like me.. They ignored her for even longer then ne.

Worst ER I have been too, 8hrs on 7/12 from 3pm to 11pm and not one PA or doctor to come acknowledge us. We left but let the entire staff know how ashamed they should be to work at a place like this! Waterbury you are better than this!

Currently waiting in the E.R now. I’ve been here for 11 HOURS ! I came in with chest pain.. lab values is off and still waited 11 HOURS. Every time I questioned the nurse about the wait, she would say “don’t leave you only have x amount of people ahead of you, it might go quick”. After investing 5 hours I felt obligated to wait… this is horrible. Thanking God that he’s upholding me. I’m questioning if they’re triaging people correctly. I’m confused 😕 Please drive further out to a different hospital if you can. THE WAIT IS DANGEROUS!!

My 91 year old Mom has spent the last 5 days in the Emergency Room with a touch of pneumonia, she was released yesterday. I truly can’t say enough about the staff, the level of compassion, empathy, patience, I could go on, were just amazing. And all of this, while dealing with an overwhelming amount of patients, I don’t think I’ve ever seen an ER so full. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! You all are amazing! Sincerely, Lou

I came in with chest pains. The nurses and Dr's were quick to diagnose and treat. No time was wasted in caring for me even though the emergency room was very busy. I stayed overnight and was monitored closely. The only problem the staff had in caring for me was finding a bed, pillows and blankets !! That was incredible to me. Summarily, the care was excellent.

Do not go to emergency room unless you are dying … they are so understaffed and can’t handle routine sickness. The staff (nurses, doctors, transporters, cleaning staff, and many others) was very professional, kind and truly did the best they could to accommodate everyone … patients in the hallway, trauma alerts coming in, uncooperative behavioral health patients, and the families of patients. It was truly eye opening to see how calm these nurses remained with even the most difficult patients. They showed compassion and care … getting patients food, drinks and anything they needed to feel comfortable all while trying to provide critical medical care as well.

I will rate different aspects of my visit individually. The nurses - from the admitting nurse to everyone else - were all uniformly very courteous and friendly to both me and my wife. The Dr staff examined me promptly, ordered tests and explained the results very well and I can follow up with my regular doctors. When I arrived at the ER there was very little wait, but inside the ER was loaded with patients. I ended up spending some seven hours, I think should have been a lot less for my testing and evaluation. Overall, I do have positive impressions based on the staff, but they could improve the process/timing.

most amazing healthcare i’ve ever experienced- labour and delivery and the nicu. special, capable, kind, people. i can’t emphasize enough how lucky i was to deliver my baby there (though two months early) with dr kaczmarek and a truly outstanding group of nurses, and then getting to spend many weeks with the nicu crew, learning from and observing them. so much knowledge and expertise and compassion there. my baby and i were in the best hands possible.

I sat there for 3 hours before anyone helped me. When they finally went to draw blood the lady couldn’t get off a personal phone call for 5 minutes. Talking about plastic surgery and back paid rent while taking my blood. Ghetto and unhelpful! Do not go here.

Never want to go to the ER here again. In there for 14 hours, never once offered any water or anything to drink. As breakfast was being handed out, again never offered anything to eat as well. The toilets were filthy with urine all over them. Two different bathrooms and no water from the sink to wash my hands. The sensors weren’t working in either. Everything looked dirty. Even the oxygen sensor placed on my finger looked disgusting with all kinds of crud in the cracks. For a hospital, this is unacceptable. Yuck!!!

Atrocious and faux building to call a hospital. Disgusting service and repulsive behavior. I say this due to the fact that I was very ill. We were waiting over thirty minutes only for the PA (Zachary Ligi) to come in to do a faulty check up (he looked at it for like two seconds) and said there were no issues to be found (most likely inaccurate). We then waited for another fifteen to twenty minutes for the papers to be printed and antibiotics to be ordered. Nothing. My mom then went out to see what the hold up was. “Zachary” said that everything would be finished shortly and that he was just starting to fill out our information—after thirty minutes of walking around doing nothing, he finally started working on the paperwork. Another five minutes pass and he came back in blabbering about the medication and how I should be fine; more nonsense. It sounded as if he googled his information. As my mother was trying to politely ask him a question, he walked out and slammed the door. That’s what really irritated us. She went outside and asked another nurse for his name so that we could write a complaint and also asked for the papers. Another twenty minutes passed by. We finally got the papers and the nurse said that she put his name on the form for us. Overall, we waited an hour and thirty minutes just for a faulty and inaccurate check up and a nurse with no bedside manner. 🤦🏽‍♂️

My son had a heart issue and they acted quickly to make sure he was stable and gave him fluids which was what was needed. They monitored him for 4 hours and we felt like they cared which we have been to other hospitals and they did not give the exceptional care Waterbury Hospital did. Thank you to all of the emergency department. Stay safe stay well!

My experience was some what good. The reason for that , is the person who did my EKG was an amazing caregiver! The person who took me to do the ex ray was such an amazing, and courteous guy. And the first nurse who attend to me while she was on her shift was very nice, the doctor who saw me, was very courteous and knows his job. God bless them all abundantly🫶🏽

I had the most amazing nurse without her the whole experience would have been so much scarier. She is a trauma nurse I think her name might have been maria or marry I'm not sure she had blondish hair , kind eyes, and the most beautiful and comforting smile. I am so grateful for her. I hope she knows what huge difference she made in my life that day . Thank you!!!

I ended up in the ER with very damaged lungs from being exposed to a toxic gas. They took me in quickly, X-rayed me and immediately brought me into the ICU where I stayed for 2 nights until they stabilized me. I then stayed 3 more days in a step down unit. The team at the hospital was amazing. Everyone took such good care of me. From the pulmonologist to all the doctors, nurses, PCAs, case worker, and other staff, they had such positive attitudes. Made it very easy to stay upbeat and heal. I just got discharged and I want to say…thank you so much to all the staff!

Visited ER last evening with shoulder and chest pains All staff I encountered were absolutely fabulous, thorough, personable and efficient. Couldn't have felt safer or better looked after. Only a 90 minute visit, but not rushed. Excellent!

We have used Waterbury Hospital for years for my husband's heart issues. We love the hospital, and the staff. For being such a big hospital they always remember us, and really like that about them. I have also been treated very well there. I spent 15 days in ICU on life support and my family was so impressed with my care. I also have had many surgeries there for my cancer, and I have always been treated excellent there.

My experience at Waterbury Hospital Telemetry Unit was 5 star. The nurses were very knowledgeable, caring and compassionate. Their degree of knowledge in cardiac issues was exceptional. The personal care assistants surprised me with their level of cardiac knowledge and their caring and friendly attitude. There were so many wonderful nurses that cared for me, but one nurse stands out. Knowing how sensitive I was to perfumes, Vanessa went by my room and noted that my room mate had a visitor who was wearing very strong perfume. Vanessa had me put my mask on and took me to the family waiting room which was empty at the time. There I read my book until after visiting hours. That spared me a potential asthmatic attach. That is over and above a nursing duty. That is the type of conscientious care I received from everyone there. The medical Doctor on the telemetry unit, Dr Patel, was very attentive and explained my plan of care and discharge plan. My discharge was very smooth and timely. My Cardiologist, Dr Johnghar, visited frequently and explained all procedures and changes in my plan of care. Waterbury Hospital should be very proud of the caliber of care given by the telemetry unit.

The staff was friendly and efficient. The radiology tech who guided me was knowledgeable, and she took the time to explain the procedure. The tech running the machine came in to check my wristband one more time, and I appreciate the attention to detail. This couldn’t have been easier. Thanks to the whole team!

My stay at Waterbury Hospital from 8/3-8-8 was amazing.the staff in the ER were outstanding and the care second. To none. Dr Thorpe and her staff were excellent. Transferred to room 4034 isolation with covid. I can’t say enough about the staff who took care of me, they were exceptional and went above a beyond the call of duty. They are truly dedicated young men and women. They are the best of the best and made my stay a memorable experience.

My recent experience was very positive. I was checked in promptly and waited a very short time to be seen. I would rate my treatment while there as very good to excellent. All staff were courteous and caring. When released I was provided with a detailed explanation of my concerns and I was given specific printed instructions for follow up with my own doctor.

I recently experienced a health emergency where I went to the ER and the diagnosis required me to be admitted to Waterbury Hospital. Luckily they were able to treat my condition in the early stages and was able to avoid surgery. The doctors, nurses and other staff I interacted with were very nice, thoughtful and accommodating. I was released from the hospital after 2 days in a much improved state and I am now doing fine.

It was very crowded and of course a long wait but that's to be expected. Once it got rolling it went by pretty quickly and I had some fantastic nurses and doctors working with me. I have been with some nurses that I don't think like their jobs but the two I had yesterday were exceptionally good and with a sense of humor that I needed because I was very nervous. The doctors I had were fantastic I wish I could have one for a primary. All in all very well pleased

I want to thank you Glorybell for always taking care of me....

I was very impressed with the care I received while I was there for two nights. Every single employee and volunteer there was unbelievably friendly and attentive. And the cardiologist was so informative and thorough in the search for my heart problem. I have never received such excellent care in any other hospital. I highly recommend Waterbury Hospital.

It is sad to only put 1 star but the service was awful. My wife was brought in in an ambulance and she was having seizures, the nurse in the front said (first thing to cone out her mouth) "thats fake". After the seizures my wife falls into an episode where she cant talk and that same nurse was like: "what, you dont want to talk to me now? Ohhhh, another one that doesnt speak english" thats racist and sad. Long story short, after a blood work they were ready to send her home without checking out what she went in for (the seizures happend this morning but she was actually going in per her doctors request because she was bleeding and needed to have an ultrasound done). They did the ultrasound and again were going to send her home withiut letting us know that it seemed she has a tumor and needed to follow up with her obgyn. Are you serious right now? What type of service is that. Just want to see that bill when it comes in.

The labor and delivery staff were great . I saw a lot of different nurses before , during and after giving birth. There were 1 to 2 nurses who were rude and careless. But the one nurse who was always next to me and holding my hand . I will forever remember her face and be grateful for her. I don’t remember her name that well but she had short brown , reddish hair . Thank you 🙏🏼

Nurses were excellent. I didn't care for My room...one bathroom was just a junk room with no toilet which meant I had to walk across room to other bathroom... in a cardiac care ward. Room was not clean 😕

The staff was very friendly and helpful. You can see the system is overwhelmed by incoming patients but the staff was getting through them in a very professional manner. Thank you for being there. ER staff hold your head high your doing amazing. Now if people only understood your not a Dr office but EMERGENCIES

After 8 months of screw ups at St. Mary's Hospital we're they did so much wrong and almost killed my Mother and also phone call telling she was dead when she was not. Dirty and only some staff were nice. Dr. Would not really talk to u about what's going on. They kept discharging her only for us to call the ambulance later that day to bring her back. We deside to try Waterbury Hospital, it was like a breath of fresh air. They took my Mother in and did a full work up to pin point best treatment. Unfortunately by that time her heart was just to beat up to come back. But they did all they could even sent her up to Hartford Hospital for more advanced care. Waterbury Hospital staff was wonderful and understanding. Everything was clean the rooms were very clean and welcoming. They had good channels on the TV. Good was decent Mom was really picky about food. Great doctors very helpful always explained everything. Thank you Waterbury Hospital God bless to all who make this hospital a great place to receive care.

If I could put no stars I would. WORST HOSPITAL EVER!!! I, myself was part of ambulance crew for a few years and never had an experience then or personally like I did last week. The nurses during my stay (other than 3 of them & I had 7 different ones total) were RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL & MORE!! (Words I can not use on here) It was the worst experience of my life. 🙏🏼PLEASE IF YOU OR YOUR LOVED ONES NEED MEDICAL ATTENTION PLEASE I BEG YOU STAY AWAY! 🙏🏼Go to St Mary’s or Yale! Waterbury hospital is NOT THE ONE! I PROMISE YOU!

Terrible experience. We will NEVER come back here. My husband was in the ER for 10 hours having a widowmaker. Surgery performed and made it! Discharged to early went back to ER 2 days later and he was admitted again. Would NOT let me in to see him bc visiting hours start at 11, seriously? I’m his wife? I care for him at home, what kind of care for the family is this???? I can’t even discuss the discharge it was completely insane limited communication, wrong discharge times, awful. Spoke with social worker once. I have filed a complaint with the hospital and DPH

Went in by 8 pm gallbladder needed to come out. Put in the hallway with the cleaning people waxing the floor all around us. Doctor said we would be admitted and surgery required. That was at 1 am, still waiting to be admitted and it is 5:36 am when the doctor assistant showed up to say they would be doing surgery but of course no time. It will be more than 12 hours laying or sitting in a hallway. Oh and there were empty rooms avaliable. Worse experience I have had in hospital. To bad I needed to give 1 star they should get a negative.
