Had an absolutely amazing meal here. The staff were all excellent and couldn't do enough for us. The seabass was excellent and so was the veal. Great value and excellent food and service.

Monday is a hard day to go out for a nice meal as a lot of restaurants are closed in Waterford. It's been a while since the last time we ate here and I really enjoyed my food. Service was good too. 😊 My kids were disappointed that they couldn't get their "Chicken goujons" 😂. It was great experience for them to try something new.

We were a family of 4 booked in for my daughter's birthday. We arrived on time, shown to our table by a lovely waiter and our order was taken by a lovely young girl. We waited and waited for our starters. After 20 mins passed they arrived which was fine as we had been chatting. The starters were lovely. Our plates were cleared and another lovely lady brought our mains. Everyone enjoyed the food yet again. Then a short bald man came to clear the table and said "ah good you're finished there's people waiting for your table!" Considering no one mentioned we had to be done in a certain amount of time and our starters were so late arriving, we just left his snippy comment go. Plus there was 2 other tables for 4 empty. We asked him for the dessert menus. After 10 mins waiting he came back looked at me and raised his eyebrows and said "what are you waiting on" told him he was to bring us the dessert menus. My daughter loves the desserts in La Fontana, the whole reason she chose there for her birthday meal. After another 5 mins he dropped the menus on the table and said "here, there's people waiting on your table, be quick!!!" There was still a table for 4 and a table for 6 free. The woman at the table beside us gasped at his rudeness. So we just got up and left. There was absolutely NO ONE waiting for tables. My husband went up and paid and he was told by another member of staff the short bald man had been acting like that all night. He was so embarrassed and couldn't stop apologizing for his behaviour. He ruined my daughter's birthday. We will NEVER PUT A FOOT INSIDE THE DOOR OF LA FONTANA EVER AGAIN. To treat your local customers that way, without respect, is unacceptable. He won't have any customers left soon. Disgraceful behavior.

It's a very elegant restaurant. There's a lot of attention dedicated to details in order to please you. No doubt it's one of the best in Ireland.

We had dinner here. We both had goats cheese to start. For main we had fillet steak and lamb rack. The meat was well cooked but only came with sauce and chip like potatoes. No veggies. It could definitely have been better. We were sitting at a tiny little table next to the bar and busy walk way which wasn't very comfortable. We found the staff to be not very friendly and they brought the bill and left it on the table without us asking for it. When I booked the table, we weren't told that they needs the table back for a particular time so this seemed a little strange. I think we were only sitting for around an hour when this happened. Price wise, I found it expensive for the poor service and lack of veggies. When I go for dinner, I expect to get food that is better than what I can do at home. Unfortunately, in this case I was disappointed. Wouldn't not go back here again but it would be fairly close to the bottom of my list

Best steak I have ever eaten. Friendly staff. Great atmosphere and once again the food is amazing. My family and I will be regular visitors

Food & service here are both absolutely wonderful. Ambiance could do with a little work, it's *very* bright which I find unusual for a dinner service. Nonetheless I'll definitely be back, especially for the mussels - absolutely divine.

Went for dinner on a Sunday. Food tasted fantastic but the ravioli portion was tiny (about 6 pieces). Service was really really poor. We’re waiting 5 minutes to be seated then another 10 minutes to even be given menu’s. The food was brilliant but terrible terrible service

Had a lovely celebratory meal with my daughter recently. There is more space at the back and the window table give a nice view of the Quay. Genuine Italian food with accompanying service staff. Good house wine and very clean restrooms upstairs.

Oh what a lovely and cozy place with delicious food and wine. We had a party for the newly weds with our family and we absolutely enjoyed the food. The sea food choices are great. Small but wonderful place for a decent Italian meal.

We had a lovely visit to La Fontana. Food was delicious. Just one little blip with an order but was rectified very pleasantly. One of our party had a dessert and by way an apology it was taken off the bill. Thank you. I would highly recommend.

Excellent Italian restaurant with authentic Italian traditional dishes. We are regulars, now, and it never disappoints. Pizza is delicious, the right level of crispness and perfectly seasoned. Pasta is also very good, we love their Carbonara. Their side order of veggies is also so good. Cooked exactly as we cook them in Italy. Christian is a true gentleman who always welcomes us when we go there and whom it’s a pleasure to have a chat with. For instance, he’s very knowledgeable when it’s about wines. Warm atmosphere and perfect portions.

The owner was amazing and was able to squeeze us in without a reservation. The crab ravioli was delicious, I highly recommend.

Lovely restaurant, have gone there twice recently and have got steak both times, cooked very skilfully, and really liked the wedges. The last time I ordered garlic bread and ribeye steak from the early bird. The steak was some of the best I’ve ever had, even better than their fillet steak in my opinion. The peppercorn source was lovely too

Went here with my partner whilst we stayed in Waterford. Whilst the prices are generally very high, especially for an Italian restaurant, the authentically Italian experience is certainly worth the money, and the ubiquitous reputation of quality for Italian food combined with seafood at a seafront restaurant certainly doesn't disappoint, as the fish stew I had was the first time in my life that I genuinely enjoyed mussels or prawns - an impressive feat considering my intense overall dislike for both up until this point. The staff, the majority of whom were Italian were incredibly polite, smiles all around and very humble were genuinely passionate about their profession, and consummate in general. The calm yet warm and Italian atmosphere of the restaurant was very well-received and pleasant overall as well. The only criticism I can muster is that some of the desserts were not made in-house, although the ones I had were, and the gelato was to die for. I definitely recommend this for anyone in the market for (and capable of affording) the classy, upscale Waterford dining experience.

La Fontana serves excellent Italian cuisine with good choice of regional wines. The staff are very friendly without being overpowering. Price was reasonable if not cheap. Good idea to book ahead as this is a small restaurant.

Two great pasta dishes and glasses of wine had. Nice menu from cold meat starters, pasta, pizza, mains and desserts. Let down by the service, waitress failed to bring water when asked. Then said would you like pepper or parmesan, then never came back. Also the pasta I asked for wasn't available that day. Still a good spot and worth stopping by.

The rizzoto with vegetable is so delicious! Amazing time with a wonderful staff ready to chat and help. The cosy vibes are here too to make you fell relax. The view on the water too of course! I will come back for sure. The meals are around 20 euros for your information 😉

Lovely restaurant, professional staff. I got Gnocchi alla Amatriciana, the sauce was supreme, the gnocchi itself were average. Desserts were very tasty.

Here today with my husband. My husband asked for the empty table at window. We were told it was booked. Well it was not. Not one person sat at it for the 1hr and 20 minutes we were in restaurant. The most horrible manager we have ever came across. What is the criteria to get a window seat? Oh it must be someone that suits the managers idea of suitable visitors. The waitresses so lovely and chatty. The manager will ruin this business with his unfit attitude. Least to say, we will not return.

It was my first time in la Fontana and it was amazing. The atmosphere was incredible and the food was delicious and the staff are the friendliest and they were really nice. The restaurant was really busy the place was packed but we still got our food so quick. Francesco one of the waiters gave us brilliant service. He was really friendly and approachable and helpful and took a lovely group photo for us. My friends and I will definitely be returning as the service is outstanding. I will be recommending this restaurant to everyone.

Had a lovely experience here when visiting home from the UAE! First time there & very nice environment and food. The staff were wonderful, Lisa served us and she was such a bubbly friendly delight! The food was delicious, I really enjoyed the bruschetta which was 3 pieces of bread with different toppings on each - all lovely! Unfortunately the steaks were both over cooked - I ordered rare but it was more medium or medium to well with only a very small bit of red through the centre, though it didnt stop it from being soft, tender and delicious. The quality of the meat was clear - though next time I do hope they cook it properly so I can experience it the way I usually eat my steaks!! Wine recommendations from Lisa were also on point & my red wine was yum!!

Dropped in for a quick bite as we were pressed for time. Both food and service were excellent and the chocolate cake looked fabulous. We'll definitely have to go back for a more leisurely meal, and chocolate cake 🍰

This family-run Italian restaurant in Waterford's Viking Triangle serves traditional Italian food and wine. We sat in the back room, which had no ventilation and smells a little musty. The food was good, though, and the Italian family who runs the place are friendly and efficient.

Fab little place, food was fab.. Great service, great choices, gluten free dishes available.. Toilets a bit of a trek but everything else perfect 👌

I had the best pizza I've had in a long time last night. Truly authentic Italian pizza. I could only critique one thing; barely anything is vegetarian but I'm sure you could ask. Great vibe, great value, Italian staff. GREAT wine. 5/5

Haven't been before, pleasantly surprised. Went for Fillet Steak, a good one something I think is actually quite hard to get when eating out. 🤌🏻It was Genuinely Beautiful. Size was larger than I was expecting, cooked as I wanted. 4 others with me really happy with their choices, steak, pizza & pasta (with muscles). As you'd expect from Itialian but it was a nice spread of choices. All of us very happy, price for food and service was spot on. We will be going back. Not a fault but to show balance, we sat inside the door and it was a smidgen cold when large groups came in so double doors open, but it's Ireland and we didn't have to wear coats or jumpers once seated just remarking. So yeah, I'll go back and so will the others I went with. Staff were attentive but once we were provided food and drinks we were left be until we'd all finished or requested more drinks.

Stumbled on this little Italian, absolutely fantastic food excellent wine sublime can't speak highly enough, will definitely be back

I visited Waterford in late June 2019 - as a young teenage lad I lived there with my grandmother for a year in 1959. I booked a table for four at La Fontana for myself, wife and two teenage kids. The service was excellent, very friendly staff, the manager / owner was friendly too and kept a close eye on us diners to make sure everybody was happy. The food was absolutely delicious, I asked for a glass of red wine and a very large glass emerged - who am I to refuse it? I never leave reviews and I haven't been here in a year, but I visited Waterford last year and we went to this restaurant on a whim, loved it and decided to go back the very next night. I haven't stopped thinking about it since. Go! And order some kind of seafood because it's so fresh. Also the staff were some of the nicest I've ever come across.
