If you’re a nature lover this place is for you. The park and grounds are beautifully kept and the entrance is free! The campground and restrooms are very clean and the staff is so helpful. It’s less than $20 to camp for the night. Campground includes a picnic table, and a fire pit that has a grill top. Firewood can be purchased when you check in for $5 a bundle. Perfect for families, or anyone that loves the outdoors.

Such an amazing place to camp. The campground was so clean, grassy and well maintained. The staff were courteous and so polite in dealing with campers and the restrooms were clean and could see the janitors visiting the restroom regularly. Perfect place for kids too. It gets so quiet in the night with such a pleasant open space to gaze at the stars. We opted for spots 29 and 31 which was so comfortably shady in the noon. People around CT should definitely try this out though we drove from NJ with 2.5 hours of drive with the stay worthwhile.

Stayed in cabin 44. Good hiking trails and great fishing out of the Black Rock Pond. The town of Thomaston is a 2 minute drive from the park for any supplies.

It's a nice place with beautiful scenery that you want to be back again and again. Definitely, it's in a list of to go places when I want to think about life and spend time just communicating with my inner self. Black Rock Dam is a nice observation point for the scenery around.

Had a great hike on the red and blue trails. Going up the red trail and down the blue trail worked well for us. We were grateful that all of the other dog owners had their pets on leashes.

Beautiful park, nice camp sites (you can take your car right up to them). Pretty good distance away from other campers, has fire pits and sells 5 pieces of firewood for $5 and ice bags for $2. Amazing trails that really do a workout, and extremely clean bathrooms. Beach/swimming area is kind of small but it is nice for a little dip, not a lot of people at the beach when I went!

I have been working here on the beautiful new building they have been constructing, polishing the beautiful dyed concrete, and what I can tell you is this is one of the most beautiful state parks I have been to in a while!!! The building it self is an amazing building, but I need to come here for more exploration!! I have done a little, but I know I will be back to see everything!!!!?

Nice hike. Two trails both steep but blue one is easier, red one is steeper but faster. The top is beautiful

We had a BSA adventure event. It was a big park and a lake. Really enjoyed.

Black Rock State Park is upgrading and modifying their facilities... Campsite pads and cabin rentals available for up to two weeks, reservations recommended. Large spring and brook fed pond for fishing, roped area for swimming, life guards available during summer days. Shower and public restrooms available, also sink areas. There was a pull through RV dump station, undergoing repair at last visit 7/16/2023. Plenty of parking. Ranger staff pleasant and knowledgeable of the immediate area (c stores, restaurants, etc) . Well kept and security on site. Ould recommend visiting.

One of my favorite places to go camping. Usually really clean, staff is very friendly and you can see some pretty views if you are up for a hike. Cabins are great but have to book far in advance. Good fishing spot for trout!

Being at this park now feels like your at a city park. The young lifeguards have no idea how to handle trouble. It feels like a downtown Waterbury festival with the music dogs running around off leash. We we're told dogs are allowed at the campsite but they have to walk the dogs around the park . Most individuals aren't picking up after the dogs. It's a shame it used to be nice here. They should have cops constantly patrolling now

Not good for camping. Camping here is like camping in Central Park, there are only a few scattered trees and camp sites are way too close to each other. I’m used to camp sites surrounded by trees and nature. Oh yeah, and no bathrooms before Memorial Day but they’ll still rent out sites. To not sound like a complete grouch, the trails are lush and full of great views.

One of our families favorite state parks. The water is clear, & clean. The beach is soft. Great fishing and swimming spot. Plus No liquor or weed allowed makes it a nice place to take the family without worry.

We enjoy camping at Black Rock since it is close to home. The staff is pretty chill and responsive to any questions, concerns, and/or complaints. Swimming can be challenging at times, since the swim area has been reduced and so many people patron the lake. The cabins are nice and worth the $50 (CT residents) per night, just remember to bring $50 cash or check for a security deposit.

Camping here was such an experience. For my first time camping I would really recommend coming here especially with kids. The water was so shallow the kids were able to go all the way out and the kids could still feel the bottom. Clean and respectful campers. Love this place

Excellent hiking. The rest of the park is still shutdown for the winter. No water or flush toilets.

Great camping experience they had many bathrooms stalls and 2 showers with hot water close to the campsites. My site was 86 and it was big enough for our 3 tents, 2 cars, dishwashing station and picnic table food setup. Sites looked good and has a small beach/lake to enjoy. Would return. Just don't hang things on the trees they dont like it and alcohol os not allowed.

Very beautiful park. It was clean and quiet for a stop to have a nice picnic with my dog and gal.

This is a nice place to go to hike and swim. It's a very small area that's only about 4 feet deep. The good thing is that it's never crowded. You can also fish as well!
