Great staff, management and punters. The pub has now improved the exterior sitting area and incorporated a live kitchen next to it. The aroma from the kitchen itself is a mesmerising and appetite intriguing to any pallete. The menu is adventurous while keeping the regular gastro pub favourites served impeccably and non wallet bursting. Please see my photos. A picture tells a thousand words

Newly redesigned bar. Great food on a Sunday and Monday. With an simple menu We'd to Saturday. Wide range of beers to suit everyone and a good selection of spirits to suit even the pickest gin drinker.

This is a really good restaurant that we found in Watford when we were looking for food. It is so cute with a great garden. The owner is super friendly and makes sure that everybody feels comfortable😊 The whole pub is great for families because they have games and colouring books. The food is excellent🀩 We can highly recommend it! You have to try!!!πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

The owners changed and this pub is freshly renovated. There is a beer garden, which is now much bigger and tidy. Food is great. Highly recommend to come and chill. πŸ‘Œ

I had a great time there last night. The renovations have been sympathetically done so it's still a proper pub but opening up the bar and garden have made all the difference. The food was excellent as was the choice and quality of beer and bar staff too. Best pub in Watford.

Recently had Sunday lunch ( vegetarian as there is no chicken option ) and it was very nice .. fresh vegetables cooked well, nice gravy and Yorkshire puddings. Chocolate fudge cake was good too. So much better than other pub food in that part of Watford. Will be returning next Sunday.

Excellent. I haven't been in this pub for years. Was dreading going in from the reputation it had then. Lovely surprise going in. All refurbished. Landlord and landlady really friendly. Food was excellent we had a roast dinner no skimping on portions. I would highly recommend this pub. Well worth the visit.

We had our first visit yesterday after their refit and I'm delighted with what they've done to the place. Its retained the old pub charm. A very well-done sympathetic makeover. Great job. The garden area has been opened up to make the most of the evening sunshine. The food was really good and the staff were lovely.

Coming from France, we discovered the White Lion in Watford. Very cosy place, very nice staff and excellent homemade food! We highly recommend!! Also convenient when visiting Harry Potter studios.

I visited Watford for the first time in October 2021 and stumbled into the White Lion with friends because it was close to our hotel. The pub had just been taken over by the new owner. We felt very comfortable there. We have now been to Watford a second time and have visited the White Lion again because of our good experience. Some renovation work has been done in the meantime, but it has kept the charm of the pub. The staff were very accommodating and attentive. I can highly recommend the cuisine.

Closest I've had to a proper 'hearty' home cooked Sunday Roast in a pub for absolutely ages. Portions were big, gravy felt like there was a party going on in my mouth, any side sauce you crave is provided (even if not a traditional accompaniment) The manager, Sean, even let me use his own personal stash of Salad Cream! Furthermore the staff were friendly, made the kids feel welcome, and the background music playlist a real "foot tapper!" Nice atmosphere, decent beer garden, close to train station(s) for visitors coming from outside of Watford. I can see myself coming a lot more regularly and so should you!

Stepped off here with family and I cannot say enough good things about this pub. We had food and a couple of drinks. Food was super, especially the pizzas. The staff were amazing, it's amazing how good and nice every staff member is, great fun and was great with the kids. They have a great area for kids games and this really was well received by ours! Spoke to the owner, lovely lovely guy who made us feel so welcome. Be told us about a kids food offer for August which reduced the price... He didn't need to as we didn't know about it, but he did. This is the mark of a great owner who runs a great team and bar. If anyone is in the area, like us, to visit the Harry potter experience with family or for whatever reason, I highly highly recommend this pub, you will not be disappointed!

Been here many times now, consistently a great experience all round. Sunday roasts are amazing, definitely the best pub food in Watford. They also do a fantastic vegetarian roast. We also recently tried the desserts which were really good. Staff are super friendly and welcoming, and the pub is very family friendly, they have some games and colouring for the kids around the side of the bar.

Hands down the best pub I've visited in a long time. Why? They have really good food, it is prepared with love! The best service - all caring about you. And very cozy atmosphere, everyone will find the best spot for them to have a pint. I've found mine! And I will be back β™‘

Great atmosphere, great hosts and service and good food. The owner is a really nice person and is always smiling and ready to help you. We were in the UK for just 12 hours (doing the Harry Potter studio tour) and wanted to have few beers and dinner before our flight in the evening - this place was among the top 5 rated pubs in Watford and I could see why. Highly recommend the White Lion!!

Been in Watford 6 years, so glad I popped in as it’s a lovely pub. But my goodness I picked a time where the service was slow. Was only 1 lady taking a while to order and me, and then got overlooked after 15 mins for another person. Shame as was looking forward to trying food. Will still pop back but not great experience

As tourists in the area we found this little Gem. The food was delicious. Staff were extremely friendly as were the locals. We even joined in a friendly quiz and had good fun.

A real hidden gem since the refit. Pub garden now twice the size and nice decor inside; keeping the old charm. Lovely Sunday roast and loved the pie n mash!

First time at this pub, arrived at 5.30 and asked if there was a table available, pub was fully booked due to the england game. They were very accommodating and found us a table. Food and service was great and the staff were very friendly. Highly recommend this pub.

Just had lunch at the White Lion. The halloumi salad was delicious and the halloumi was grilled to perfection. Would highly recommend this dish. The menu in general is great with lots to choose from. It does not compare at all to some of the other chains in Watford. The food is always excellent and fresh and very good value for money.

A much improved service and decent range of real ale from what I saw six months ago. Very helpful staff on hand to listen to your tastes for food and drinks. Well done!

The quintessential pub, classical decor, retro style and owners that are flexible in thinking and meathod. Sunday roasts are second to none, highly reccomend the lamb as they actually cook it the way I like and aren't stingy on the gravy! Good selection of drinks and snacks as well!

We live in Watford but had never considered going here before. One day on our way back home from a long, hot walk in Cassiobury Park we decided to pop in for a cold drink. The atmosphere was really nice and calm, people are very friendly. We then decided to order one of their roast dinners and we loved it. The portions are huge but very tasty and satisfying. We have been back since with a couple of friends and have now made it our go to place for our weekly roast.
