This is the main hospital to treat mentally ill people in Sri Lanka. They provide counseling and psychotherapy through day center. They also provide Alcohol relapse prevention therapy. Please see the attached photo for more services provided by them The outdoor is well maintained and clean with proper signboards. There is a large car park for the people visiting the hospital. The canteen is clean and the staff is very concerned about the hygiene.

Another excellent Government Hospital in Sri Lanka. Most important fact is flexibility of visiting hours. From 7.00 am to 5.00 pm you can visit your patients.

This is the National Institute of Mental health in Sri Lanka. It has all the facilities to treat all kind of psychiatric illnesses with great care. 9 consultant psychiatrists and 80 doctors with other staff for around 1000 inward patients. It's another great hospital which serve for whole country.

National Institute of Mental Health is the only hospital in Sri Lanka dedicated to mental health. It’s a specialized tertiary care centre with inwards facilities. There are separate units for Geriatrics, Post natal, Paed/Adolescent, Forensics etc. Also there are occupational therapy units, a new training center, various clinics regarding psychiatry. A lot of doctors and nurses get their specialized mental health training from here.

The Angoda Mental Asylum was declared open on 31st January 1926 for 1728 patients. In 1942 April, at the second world war the Angoda Mental Asylum was bombed by Japanese by mistake. Seventy patients were injured while ten died. As compensation they decided to build a hospital in Mulleriyawa

it was Established in 1927, the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) has come a long way to become Sri Lanka’s largest tertiary care institution caring for the patients with mental illness. The Mental Hospital (Teaching),Angoda was upgraded to a National Institute in October 2008. Half Way Home, Mulleriyawa(HWHM) and the School of Nursing, Mulleriyawa are also under the administration of NIMH since 2008.
