Highly recommend this place. Food was delicious and the folks behind the counter were super kind and accommodating. They let us try their sauces for reference. We got the Memphis which was a kind of a sweet bbq sauce, and the mild, which was a nice neutral user friendly sauce. We got a Med order of Brisket with mac and cheese and mashed potatoes with cornbread, and we got a large pulled pork order with spaghetti and red beans with Hawaiian rolls. We also got a 1/4 of fried okra! Everything was amazing!

Today I had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant I've always been a big fan of barbecue. But let's face it not all barbecue is good barbecue lol. The menu was great I couldn't make a choice so I decided to get two dishes today. Pulled pork and a medium catfish dinner. The service was excellent and I gave three stars to the atmosphere because it looks as if they're in the middle of renovations. So only the drive-thru is open being a truck driver I couldn't get in the Drive-Thru but they were kind enough to let me inside. I would most definitely recommend this place.!!

I guess I've never had good BBQ until I tried this place. The brisket was absolutely amazing. Incredibly juicy and tender with just the right amount of smoke. Same with the rib tips. Very meaty and perfect even without any sauce. Do try the sauces though. They aren't poured out of a bottle, their made from scratch. Not overly sweet and great flavor. Restaurant was very clean. Workers were super friendly. I'll be a regular at this place for sure. Waukegan area is lucky to have this place!

got the 3LB Rib Tips for 39.99 with 3 sides and bread the bread is Hawaiian rolls. The sides are delish, out of the 3 sides i tried; southern style black-eyed peas, Mac n cheese, and Mash Potatoes it was 1. Mash potatoes; totally homemade. great flavor on the gravy mash potatoes had great consistency 2. Black-eyed peas; great flavor they had greens and more mixed in, wife said, it was heavy on the bite on the black pepper, but i had no issue. 3. Mac n cheese; the most commercialized flavor side ive tried so far, above KFC but a little below Popeyes, Kids will still love it though. Now onto the Tips! These are true smoked rib tips, Excellent flavor profile, not blasted with seasoning. you can tell that the person responsible for smoking takes pride in their work. The flavor is infused with the smoke. ( I cant wait to try the brisket) they serve sauce on the side so you control how sticky your ribs get. and you don't really need the sauces They have many sauces to choose from. with the meal I bought you receive 2 different sauces 2 containers each. I chose Mild and Bourbon. Bourbon had excellent smokey flavor and a small non-overpowering kick to it. the Mild was very sweet like a Hawaiian based BBQ sauce with pineapple in it. Overall very impressed with this location and excited that there is 2 exceptional BBQ locations within a mile or so of each other Hillarys better get their act together and get back to basics because they ARE NOT the king of BBQ in Waukegan any longer!

The ribs were smelling incredible I could tell without eating them that somebody knows that barbecue is it's not a sauce it's a method of cooking. But I had to try the catfish... it was incredible so was the fried cabbage and red beans and rice. These people use quality ingredients and respect what real food is.

Had lunch here and we were impressed. We had turkey tips with sides. Lady that took our order was patient with us because it was our first time. We appreciated that. Food 9/10 Service 10/10 Location was easy to find. We will return.

Tonight was our first experience at Test Kitchen BBQ and while the menu is expansive and the staff was nice and friendly, the food was just ok. We ordered the Medium Turkey Plate ($11.99)with sides of Cole slaw and mashed potatoes and the Medium Brisket plate ($13.99) with sides of baked Mac n cheese and baked beans. We also ordered an extra small side of corn fritters. The brisket (we asked for lean) was quite fatty. In fact half of it was fat. The flavor of the meat didn't require bbq sauce so that's a plus...but when half the plate is fat, that's not appetizing. The baked beans were tasty. The Mac n cheese was pretty bland. The Turkey was moist and flavorful but also fatty. The mashed potatoes were excellent and the Cole slaw was pretty tasty. The corn fritters were really good.

I was working in the area and this place and decided to give it a try I even asked a guy that was leaving how was the food he said good... I wish I would have kept driving. First my food was not hot. I ordered the Brisket no flavor the corn fritters were good but again not hot and the mac and cheese ughh.. Maybe an off day but sorry I'm very disappointed. Positive cashier was pleasant.

My husband and I shared brisket with bourbon sauce, and it was fantastic. Definitely rivals some famous Texas BBQ I've had. Also, the staff are friendly and helpful and provided quick service.

As always everything was phenomenal. I ordered my 2 favorite meals there. Brisket cut lean and catfish fried hard. Thank you for these perfect slices of lean Brisket My visit today was even better than usual though. Even coming close to closed everything looked and tasted even better 😊 I couldn't wait until I left the drive thru to dive right in. It seems the menu board and a few other changes were made and it looks great. Keep doing what your doing. I love this place and wish there was a location in my city nearby.

I personally go there for the prime rib! Last week when I went there they were all sold out. I was so disappointed. Going to try again this week... and corn fritters are must have when we do the drive. I drive there all the way from Lindenhurst. We need some restaurants desperately in Lindenhurst, how about a second location over in this town?
