My disabled husband was turned away from your restaurant at the Barnett Hill hotel on Saturday evening because he had his assistance dog with him (a fully trained, registered and qualified Hearing Dog - charity number 293358). This is illegal and amounts to discrimination under the Equality Act. We are extremely upset and have never been treated this way or turned away from any restaurant or other establishment in the 6 years my husband has had his assistance dog. The manager at your hotel wouldn’t listen to our explanations (we even showed him the relevant extract from the Equality Act) and in the end we left and had to find dinner elsewhere on short notice despite having paid a lot of money in advance to dine and stay at your hotel. Please ensure all your staff receive vital up to date and adequate training on disability discrimination and reasonable adjustments to make sure this distressing and embarrassing situation does not happen to anyone else. Genuinely the worst customer service we have ever experienced.

I came here in May 2019 for afternoon tea as my birthday treat, I loved the grounds and beautiful building! Came back for a spa break for my birthday this year and it’s been a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Rose at reception went out of her way to be accommodating allowing us to upgrade to a very comfortable room with views, assisted us to get the treatments we wanted and gave us complimentary afternoon tea which made me feel very special for my birthday. My full body massage and facial given by Jasmin was exquisite, her hands were like silk, she left me feeling amazing!!! Overall a truly amazing experience and I’m looking forward to coming back!

I Visited Barnett Hill as an outside guest for a massage. I received and excellent massage from Lisa who knew exactly what she was doing finding my problem areas on my back without being told. Professional and quality massage in a calm and scented room. You can tell Lisa is highly experienced and I would recommend booking her if your ever at the hotel or in the area.

My boyfriend booked this place for my 21st Birthday with the intention of me being pampered, this did not happen. Firstly they forgot about us and said they didn't have any avalibility to book us in for a treatment, even though we chose the 'Soothe and Stay' package which had this already included and paid for. Then, we discovered the treatment rooms here do not offer nut-free products and so I was left disappointed and feeling excluded because of my allergy. I was shocked by this because a nut-allergy is a common one and Barnett Hill not accommodating for this is less than what I expected. Our room also had a ladybug infestation and so we had to move rooms at 11pm on the night of arrival. Apart from this dinner was nice and the staff were friendly. Ultimately would not have booked here if I knew the main thing I wanted (a treatment), didn't happen.

Lovely building that has some great history. Bedrooms were nicely fitted out, a little noisy if you were GF and someone was in the room directly above. Food was decent in the bar, £7 for a pint of draft IPA was a bit strong though.

I really enjoyed my stay at Barnett hill with my furry friends. Beautiful location, comfortable modern room, staff very friendly and welcoming. The food is tasty and nothing is too much trouble. Had a great massage by Lisa and put it this way, I felt a lot better than when I first arrived.

Held a corporate event here. We were just the right size to have full run of the place. It is a fantastic venue and the staff were attentive and welcoming. Nothing too much trouble for them and they accommodated all of our desires/requirements. Only minor niggle for me was some areas of the bedroom had reduced height...as I said minor. Highly recommend! Thank you to the staff and management.

Beautiful place, lovely staff and food but I regretted not packing earplugs. Our stay was ruined by a large group(film crew I think) having an impromptu late night gathering in the lounge below our bedroom (Frank cook),so much door slamming and then being hoovered up at 12.30am! The phoneless reception qr thing is a good idea but didn't get answered after the initial complaint about the piano playing at 11.30pm. The gorgeous bath (the main reason I booked) plug didn't work. The lovely lady at reception said some one would take a look whilst we were at dinner...but no update and never got fixed. All in all I was embarrassed the suprise birthday present away from the kids left us so tired. The room was so pretty. Reception informed at the time and at check out.

We booked a family dog friendly pre-Christmas weekend to unwind and relax, and it was just PERFECT. The afternoon tea including the pawperfect tea was delicious and the staff very friendly. Many thanks to Lisa & Charlie therapists for the amazing so much needed massage. Our son really enjoyed playing the giant chess and our sausage dog loved the grounds. The room at the courtyard was clean and very comfortable so we had a good night sleep. Generally the hotel is contemporary decorated keeping the old character. Special thanks to the staff at the bar for being friendly and hospitable. Overall, it was a great weekend highly recommended!

I didn't stay at Barnett Hill Hotel. I went for afternoon tea for my birthday Which was disappointing. The scones were over baked, The milk jug/ gravy boat had the remains of gravy around the inside at the top. We didn't have enough spoons. There were 3 ramekins of cream, jam and lemon curd. Each had spoons which we used for the jams etc. But only one spoon between two of us, for two different drinks and to eat two small glasses of soft pudding. The room was pleasant and tables cleared but serviettes from previous guests had been left on the tables and chairs On the plus the sandwiches were well filled fresh and tasty. The house and grounds are lovely The experience overall was poor and no attention to detail. The tea looked good but didn't deliver. I would not recommend or return. This was a disappointing birthday afternoon tea especially after traveling for an hour to get there.

Really lovely hotel and grounds. Would highly recommend the afternoon tea. We also had the reception to our wedding here in September 2020 (we were planning it amid constant government covid rule changes). Barrett Hill were so accommodating during this period and helped us to have a fantastic day.

Went for afternoon tea. Had to wait a bit for our food even though two staff members came separately to take our order, but the food was wonderful once it arrived. All staff were very polite and welcoming.

Rooms quite odd, I stayed in the annex which meant a trip down a corridor to the end. Plug socket didn't work but oddest was a bathroom with no opportunity for a shower unless I knelt down due to the roof pitch. Very odd low mirror as well. Bed fine and comfortable but I expected more really.

The setting of the hotel is very nice, but what really sets it apart is the exceptional staff. They are incredibly helpful, yet discreet and friendly. I attended a conference here, and it went very well. The rooms and facilities were of good quality and the food was also very good. The gardens are beautiful and a great place to walk around between sessions, reflect and recharge. My room was comfortable and the hotel easily accessible by car, with ample free parking available. Overall, it was a very pleasant and relaxing experience. This hotel offers an ideal setting for business travel, as well as for holidays. I highly recommend it. Thank you to all the team from the Barnett Hill. Best Regards #B4YOUDISCOVERY

Beautiful environment, stunning house. For an afternoon tea, the location in the library was perfect. The food was really good for the price, but we did feel largely ignored by staff. We were sat, we were served, then we were left alone. When the staff did remember about us, they were attentive and professional, but mostly absent. Still didn't detract from the afternoon though. I would happily go back again

My husband and I had our wedding reception at the hotel March 2022. We revisited last weekend for our 1st anniversary and as usual were not disappointed. This place is just stunning! It’s peaceful, tranquil and the grounds are well maintained and beautiful all year round. As for the rooms and the staff, they always get a 10/10 from us. Special mention must go to Nina who looked after us so well, she went out of her way to ensure we were welcomed and nothing was too much trouble. The staff always go above and beyond. The only thing we could complain about is that we couldn’t stay for longer. Thankyou to the team at Barnett Hill we will be back soon.

This hotel is a very nice 4 star hotel. It was spotless in every room I stepped in, which is a credit to the staff and the standards they uphold. The design and interior of the hotel is beautiful, and the gardens and surrounding grounds are stunning. They have a woodland walk in grounds that is definitely worth exploring if you have time. The afternoon tea was really tasty, and the options on the plate were wide ranging. The breakfast buffet was okay, but didn’t have many other options other than the usual full English.

We had a fantastic time, we dined at the restaurant and had a private room and I think the guy who looked after us was Kyle or Karl and he was incredible! So attentive and thought of everything! The food was fantastic and overall it would be hard to give anything other than 5 stars

Spent a night here this weekend for our wedding anniversary. The house itself is impressive, and the breakfast was lovely. Really enjoyed the bath in the room, and made use of the other room amentities. The room we stayed in was at the top of the stairs which meant it was a bit noisy at times but overall had a pleasant stay.

Absolutely beautiful stay. The hotel itself is stunning. The gardens are beautiful, along with the private areas and the surrounding nature walks nearby. A few little snags; Lunch arrival was lagging and we waited over 45mins for a salmon salad. Our request for vegan afternoon tea also was not accommodated due to a breakdown in comms between the website & hotel - it was a birthday treat for a friend so it was a little disappointing however the pastry chef was quick to whip something up last minute. I left my hot water bottle there by mistake and staff said they would post back, but unfortunately they did not. Overall staff were very lovely. A wonderful birthday treat and we really enjoyed our stay.

Stayed here for the second time and I still liked it a lot. It has a beautiful big garden and it’s great to walk around. The room this time was not in the main building and was more basic than the one in the main which I stayed last time, but it was a good basic room. I always love full English breakfast and can never try other options! First day I could choose from menu but the second day it was buffet. The fresh orange juice was heavenly.

Attended 2nd time for work conference and had a comfortable stay in a quiet courtyard room. Good breakfast selection and delicious dinner. Enjoyed a look at the interesting planting on a walk round the gardens. Friendly staff. Would love to return again for a longer stay!

Spent the day at this picturesque hotel and grounds while my wife was at a photography workshop. Staff were friendly and attentive. The setting was grand. They do a lovely high tea and have a great menu. I did not stay but I am sure the rooms were lovely too.

Excellent venue, but what makes this exceptional is the staff. They are incredibly helpful, discreet, friendly. I organised a conference here and it went very well. Good facilities and food. Gardens are beautiful and great to walk around between sessions to reflect and recharge. Room was comfortable and spacious.

4 stars here as it is a 4 star hotel at best. Some areas could be cleaner, such as window sills with dead bugs and old cobwebs. A regular spring clean and staff on the the top of their game could push it to an entry level 5 star. The Beatrice Cook room was very spacious but the bedside table had flaked off which you also get at 5 star hotels could easier be patched by a handyman. Overall enjoyed an summer evening stay.

We had a wonderful stay at Barnett Hill, with our baby and dog. Booking was seamless - we noted in our reservation that we would need a crib and a dog bed. Upon arrival, this was all set up for us. The air conditioning in the room was also very strong so this was much welcomed. The room was clean and spacious and the bathroom was very nice. The staff were extremely helpful and it was clear they love dogs. Our dog had so many treats and pats from them. We had dinner in the restaurant on both nights that we stayed. Service was excellent and food was fantastic. We'd recommend this hotel to anyone in a heartbeat. Thank you for a fab stay!

We stayed for a weekend break and it was amazing. The room (Cosy King) was air conditioned (a godsend when the weather was in the high 30s!) in the recently renovated stable buildings. The food was also great - afternoon tea, fabulous meal from the Oak Room and great drinks. The main staff were great, especially the head barman and Pep, the General Manager. He took the time to chat with us and made us feel very welcome!

Excellent all round We hired the Feathers Room for a small private function to celebrate my in-laws 60th Wedding Anniversary. I arranged it all from Australia and Ella was easy to communicate with. I arrived early to decorate the table which had been covered with a crisp white linen table cloth and smart crockery. The afternoon tea was delicious and plentiful and the service from Nicole was excellent and thoughtful. The location of the room was as promised, no steps and close to the loos for our elderly guests. We had a really wonderful afternoon and can’t fault any aspect of our celebration at Barnett Hill. We would definitely use them again. Thanks to everyone who looked after us, great job.
