Jamboree Stone

Historical landmark

πŸ‘πŸ‘ I'm a bit concerned at this being described as an 'Historical landmark'. I attended the event it commemorates! Oh, right, I'm old! 😊 😊

The centre of Sutton Park National Nature Reserve! This stone commemorates the world scout jamboree held in Sutton Coldfield. The scouts camped on what is now called the β€˜Arena Field’ accessible from Streetly Gate and Boldmere Gate.

Right in the centre of the park at a crossroads. Nice piece of local history.

My recent visit bought back memories of my visits to this place. We did a nice walk down to the red road route and then straight down to the lake side. Definitely a must go on a day with sunshine that makes it an even better experience. Huge park great atmosphere good too see lots of families and dog walkers.

πŸ‘ It's ok. Just some offices a few shops, a gym and a hotel. Big car park which can be free if your token is registered depending on where you go. They refuse to offer any bike parking so you end up having to drive. They do have a large selection of 7kw EV chargers though. Which to their credit when t...

πŸ‘ Smaller in scale than London, but there are good shops and establishments. Local landmarks include a stone pagoda, donated by a prominent local Chinese business as well as Chinese architectural flourishes around the Arcadian and surrounding area. It's nice enough.
