Amazing social hostel! Accommodation is basic but you get a great community with it. Locals come in and cook most nights for the group which is a great way to get to know everyone. Staff is super friendly as well :)

Simona is a really good host! She was super helpful and kind. Her hostel is cozy and the garden is perfect to chill out a bit. The breakfast was very nice, with a big portion of fresh fruit. Thank you for the lovely stay and for not letting us go to bed with an empty stomach! 😇

Sumee and Simona are fantastic hosts. This place is new in 2019 and they have got the right idea. It’s basic but comfortable. The atmosphere is super friendly and relaxed. Breakfast is simple but delicious, perfect for the tropical climate. If they do an evening dinner, it’s exquisite local cooking, full of variety and spicy flavours 😋. This place rocks and is great value! 👍

Nearby one of the most beautiful beaches (Hiriketya/Dikwella) I have ever seen in my life. The hostel is quite new, austrian/srilankan couple as owners. I was in 6 people girls dorm. Sometimes you miss the aircon. I like that every bed has own mosquito net. I prefer lower beds. Super friendly staff, fast tuck tuck service, tasty breakfast which is included. Always very clean! Cute dogs on this property. Laundry, shops, beaches, cafes and restaurants close by. All walking distance. Can recommend that place totally! Maybe I come back one day. Little improvement is possible: maybe make a sign that new guests can find the reception. Would be great to have some shelves in bed area and also in the room.

Lovee love love! A great dorm space with a woderful host who catered to all our needs. 2 min walk to the beach, great breakfast and comfy atmosphere. the cute doggies there also helped to love the place even more! Will definitely visit again to get a surf lesson from the host!

I recently stayed at The Lazy Monkey Hostel in Hiriketiya and I have to say, it was an amazing experience. The hostel itself is located in a beautiful, quiet area that's just a short walk from the beach. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed during our stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with plenty of space to store our belongings. The common areas were also great - there was a cozy lounge area where we could relax and socialize with other travelers, and a well-equipped kitchen where we could prepare our own meals. One of the things that really stood out to me about The Lazy Monkey Hostel was the attention to detail. From the colorful decor to the thoughtful amenities (like beach towels and surfboard rentals), it was clear that the owners put a lot of thought into creating a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for their guests. Best place to stay in Hiriketiya!! I stayed for 3 weeks and will miss this place a lot. Lazy Monkey is a super nice hostel with double rooms and dorms. Everything is clean, the beds are comfortable and there are lockers to store important things. The outside sitting area is very cosy and perfect for relaxing, working (also good Wifi and plugs for charging outside) and meeting people from the hostel. In the little garden there’s space to do yoga and you can watch monkeys in the trees 😊 There’s free drinking water to fill up, which was also super convenient. The kitchen has everything you need and is always clean. You can sign up for dinner (rice and curry) at the hostel which was amazing food and definitely worth to try out! The location is perfect, it’s very beautiful and quite and green but still close to everything you need and just a short walk from the beautiful beach. Simona, the owner of the hostel is super friendly and can give a lot of recommendations! Hamu is the best manager, always with a smile on his face and makes sure that everyone feels welcomed and at home at this beautiful place. I highly recommend Lazy Monkey! Thank you to Hamu and Simona and the rest of the team, I really had an amazing time!
