I've taken lessons at a local place before, but they can't even come close to the experience I've had here. Victor is an exceptional instructor and an expert in his field. During our private lesson, Victor provided us with a detailed theoretical explanation, covering topics such as the anatomy of a surfboard, various types of waves, the proper technique for popping up on a board, which muscles to engage while on the board, and much more. Then we headed to the water, and the entire experience was truly phenomenal. This is, without a doubt, the best place to take a professional surf lesson in Weligama.

An incredible find in Welligama, this is an authentic surfing school that places a strong emphasis on theory, provides top-notch equipment, and upholds a thoroughly professional approach. In the span of a mere hour with a local instructor, I learnt more valuable theory than I had in all my previous private lessons outside of the Soul temple, where instructors merely celebrated my ability to stand on a surfboard, which was quite satisfying but not really useful: Sasha, the local instructor, proved exceptionally professional and helpful. He gave me comprehensive instructions on achieving the correct stance on a board, engaged in extensive discussions about various wave types, and provided immediate corrections while we were in the water. Thank you a lot and definitely see you again!

We can highly recommend the surflessons at the soul temple! :) Its great if you know already some basics and are willing to improve your surf :) Its totally worth it! We booked 3 double lessons as a couple. Our instructor during the first two sessions was Muzam a really experienced & passionate nice guy who could explain everything very well to us.

Packed with all the facilities you need to get your Southern vacation done properly and comfortable. Just few, but not all things about: -ISA qualified surf instructors speaking English, Sinhala and Russian languages fluently 👌🏽 -various size/type minty condition boards and other equipment ( leashes, towels, shirts, etc ) -maintained skateboarding ramp ( the only one around Weligama ) And many more for you to check yourself, as well as coming soon 🔜

After many recommendations I finally made it to Soul Temple. Not only is it in the heart of Weligama (a road cross away from the ocean) it’s super funky, wonderful music/ambience, super friendly staff but more then anything….. THE BEST COFFEE in the South. Brewed with such perfection and care. The owner took time out of his busy schedule to come and have a small chat too! Overall, a 10/10! Definitely coming back soon.

The right place to go to, especially if you are learning how to surf. Instructors are very knowledgable, giving you in depth information about the practical and theoretical aspects of surfing. They will guide you in the water and discuss about how to improve your surfing, with video analysis. Soul Temple is a very welcoming place where you can attend surf or skate sessions, practice yoga, have a coffee or just hang out! Everyone is friendly and will make you feel comfortable. This spot is a vibe!! A must see when in the south coast. Amazing and attentive staff, even the owner was talking to all the guests making sure everyone is taken car of. Respect!! I ordered a flat white which was served by the coolest barista in town Zuma, this guy is an absalout legend making some the best coffee I have had on my trip here. Overal this place is lit!!

Great surf school with everything that you might expect from a top quality place: professional instructors (russian and english speaking), boards in good conditions, sometimes video recordings of the surf sessions. We chose Weligama for a surf trip specifically, because we knew Viktor, co-founder and one of the instructors, and trusted the surf school might help us progress in our surf abilities (and it did). I must note the location of the school: Weligama beach is an excellent place for beginners to learn to surf, where you can start from white water and progress on to soft, non-intimidating waves. As a bonus, the surf school interior is simply beautiful, and gives off the feeling of a high-end gym, but with a tropical vibe. There is everything for your comfort, including showers, bathroom, water-cooler, and even towels. Thankfully, there is a coffee shop here as well, so you have a reason to stop by any day.
