We had a great whale watching trip with Wimal and his son! He picked us up from hotel early morning and prepared breakfast with lots of fruits. Best part of the trip is his enthusiasm. He is so eager to find whale for us so either he or his son is always watching the surface and the minute we see whale coming up they would rush to be the first one near the whale before it goes down again. Considering whale only stays on surface for a few seconds, the rush ensures us to see the whale every time. It is like treasure hunting and feels exciting every time we do it! Although we see the whale a few times, Wimal still keeps us there for almost 4 hours to see the blue whale many times and also some cute dolphins. So if you are coming for whale watching and want some special memory, go with Wimal. You won't regret it.

What a day! The guys are great at what they do. Saw whales, dolphins, turtles and the highlight was killer whales hunting. Amazing! Probably one of the most amazing days of my life. Also provided some Sri Lankan snacks and water. Then finished it off with a little swim and jumping off the boat. I can not recommended these guys enough. Wimal is probably the nicest man you will ever meet and Sanju is there at hand to answer any questions. Really want to go back and try find some blue whales. Thank you for a great day.

With Wimal's boat you are the first to see whales and dolphins. Small boat is so fast and can chance the direction quickly. We wondered small boat and see, but it was very good dechsion - four whales and many many dolphins.

Animal lovers as well as action junkies listen up: do it. Do it. Do it! Even a down to earth person cannot deny the uplifting feeling when watching a whale or a school of dolphins for the first time. The friendly Wimal picks you up at your homestay, gets you on his little but fast boat, serves a small breakfast and takes you on a speedy and wild, sometimes wet ride. When sighting a whale this father and son team changes into athletic mode to make sure you end up first row, arriving before the big and slow competition. But they do it with the outmost respect for these fascinating beings, never charging them, leaving them their space what was most important for me. After being blessed with this most beautiful experience we jumped from the boat for a nice swim in the crystal clear magic blue water. Even if no whale was in sight the boat tour alone is priceless. After this great experience Wimal even drops you where he picked you up - I cannot think of a better service. We’ll definitely do that again.

That was an enjoyable adventure, we spotted humpback whales soon after starting the trip and boy we saw a lot of dolphins, what a pleasure! Hosts were friendly and professional, we've been treated with variety of fruits and had a nice swim not far from the shore in a calm water. We had so much fun, thank you guys!

We get picked up by Tuktuk and scooter and went to the boat. They observe very well the sea and showed us where to look for seeing the whales… we received Samosa and fruits for breakfast. We were lucky and saw a blue whale. They give us multiples times to see the whale(s) close by and good. It was a unique experience!!we recommend it!

We went whale watching with Wimal.and his Son Akila on 18th Dec23 he was clear in his communication about pick up. He picked us up from our hotel in Welligama sharp at 6.15. We started out in time and immediately got served with nice cut fruits and Srilankan Samosa. While we did t get lucky for about an hour, Wimal never gave up. We finally spotted the whale. The thing with Blue whales is that they stay on th surface for about 30-40 seconds and then go dive in to surface again after 10-12 mins. Each time they went in we waited for them to surface again. There were big boats that could not navigate closer to the whale, but Wimal always managed to get us quickly to the spot where the whale would surface. We also sorted Dolphins and loved how awimal navigated in such a way that dolphins swam with our boat I would highly recommend the duo 1. Punctual 2. They don't give up easily, they have a phone network so they ask local fishermen where the whales are 3. Childlike enthusiasm, courteous duo. 4. Father son have a great tag team, son navigates and father is the captain and together they are able to be closest to the surfacing Whale out of all the boats around us. 5. Support small business! Don't think twice, take it, don't go with big catamaran, big boat. their sightings are from too far, they are slow to move and not interested in giving you the best experience. Highly Recommended!

We had a truly memorable experience going for whale watching with Wimal & his son. He picked us up from our hotel and gave us some fresh samosas and fruits for our breakfast on the boat. Through the rain & shine, Wimal and his son were so attentive and eagerly giving us the experience we deserve. We saw lots of dolphins and a blue whales!! And we saw the most beautiful rainbow. The whole experience was not a typical zoo kind of feel, rather felt like a hunt; the adrenaline rush, and the excitement of catching a sight of these amazing creatures. We didn’t even mind coming back to hotel soaking wet at all. It was all worth it! Hope to see you again when we return to Mirissa. finally the care that Wimal and his son showed us is what makes us right this review. Thank you Wimal!!

If you are a small group and want to experience whale watching with pro spotters in a fast boat, this is the place to be! Wimal and his son are pro sailors and whale spotters. They are also extremely humble and their hospitality is top notch! Hotel pickup-drop and breakfast is included in the package, which is to be honest really affordable considering the time you spend at the ocean. We spotted 3 Bryde’s whales and a bunch of dolphins, all thanks to these guys. Boat is superfast which helps you navigate much faster than those big cruise ships. Highly recommended small business for a great and ethical whale watching experience. All the best!

We had a lovely half day trip with Wimal and his son. We were well taken care of, we got pancakes and fresh fruit for breakfast. Wimal is connected with local fishermen who give an echo when they spot whales. We personally saw schools of different kinds of dolphins, 2 whales and even had the amazing experience of meeting a whale shark, with whom I swam for a while. Thank you for the kind and smiling team of Wimal and his son. We are happy to recommend further!

Wimal and he's Som took me and my 3 daughters aged 14,11 & 6 on whale watching. Wimal is very experienced and passionate about finding the whales. Whimal has a good network and Fishers call him if they see any whales. Whimal and he's son are good at spotting and following the whales, and they position their boat well. We felt inferior to the big heavy tourist boats, and even though there where newer and more powerful small boats on the water, Wimals experienced compensated fully and more. We saw two whales, dozens of spinnerwhales, turtle, tuna, flying fish and had a great day. Bluewhales had not been spotted in 3 months.

If you want to do whale watching in Mirissa do it with Wimal! We were only four tourists on a small boat and like that we were super fast. We saw several whales, dolphins and turtles. Was an amazing experience! Wimal offered us breakfast and sea sickness pills.

If you go whale watching, go with Wimal! :) we were really lucky and saw a blue whale and dolphins from very close. We appreciated being on a small speed boat alone without the crowds. We were always the first ones to reach the whales before everyone else. Wimal is a great guide, very committed and friendly!

We had an amazing trip with Wimal, saw 5-6 whales from very close. Wimal was very friendly and we were always ahead of bigger boats. This is more of a private tour experience, which we were looking for. We came back very happy, what a fantastic trip!

We had a really nice boat trip! It was just me, my boyfriend and another girl. We first saw dolphins away from the crowd and then we drove to the whale spot with all the other boats and came really close to a wale. Wimal picked us up from our hotel and brought us home in the end. He and his son were really kind and friendly and tried everything to make us feel welcome and happy! Also we had some breakfast on the trip: Heaps of Bananas, Pineapple, Samosas, Water and Kakao. Thank you!

🫤 Food was very simple and there was no coffee or anything, you are on a filled boat with 50+ people. We didn’t saw any whales, we did saw some small dolphins. Very expensive for what you get, even when you do see whales.
