Kirala is a special place <3 Perfect to get away from the hustle of Weligama but still really close to everything within a 5 min tuk tuk/scooter ride. Waking up surrounded by palm trees, monkeys, the sound of birds and the river next to you, there's no better way! Made friends for life here :) Janaka and the volunteers will make you feel like you're part of a little family. His mother's rice and curry is the best I've had in Sri Lanka, and I'm very happy I got to take her cooking class to cook it back home :) 100% recommend!

Kirala Garden is amazing place where you feel like with family. Nice people around you. It is a quiet place with a perfect garden where you can watch monkeys and birds. Accommodation is clean and very nice if you compare it to price for it. You can have an cooking class with local people or they do somethimes event as Devil Dance. You can practise yoga on rooftop with perfect view or reading book in hamack. I highly recommend :)

It’s such a nice place with so friendly people. It makes you feel like home. The dorm is huge and u have a lot of space. You can see a lot of animals in the huge garden, it’s a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere. They also have a big rooftop where u can do yoga. They offer a cooking class (it’s awesome) and they make so fair prices, also for drinks (the same prices like in the supermarket) I would love to come again to this beautiful place. Thanks a lot!

A fantastic hidden gem outside of the hustle and bustle of Weligama beach front. The staff and volunteers make you feel like one of the family and are always willing to help you. It's clear that the hosts care deeply for the experience of guests. Kirala offers a wide range of experiences including cooking classes (best rice and curry), Devil dances, yoga, and surf lessons. Would highly recommend this for anyone looking to experience more of the cultural/local side of SL 👌

This is the place to be ! In the jungle, you can see many birds as rare as colibiris, sometimes crocodiles in the river. Rooms are super clean, owner is so friendly and is helping a foundation for the poor in sri lanka ! I'm staying for a few months now

I really like that place. You can see tropical birds and monkeys just from the rooftop, where you can do a good yoga session. They also have cooking classes, which is amazing to experience. A lovely place in the jungle, not far from the town.

Great place for cleanliness, peaceful jungle vibes, however the owner has 4 rottweilers locked in cages and one dog on a chain. Owner feeds them well but doesn't let them out much at all. Be prepared to listen to the dogs whining.

Janaka's mother's cooking class was a great experience! After three weeks exploring Sri Lanka, this was the perfect culmination of our culinary trip. We were thrilled to learn the tips and techniques behind preparing our favorite Sri Lankan dishes: dahl, pumpkin curry, and coco sambal. Janaka and his team of enthusiastic volunteers made us feel very welcome and at ease. It's evident that Janaka's interest extends beyond the kitchen. He actively supports various community projects with his foundation, and we had a stimulating conversation about his endeavors. His dedication to making a positive impact is truly inspiring. The highlight of the class was learning that 50% of the profits go directly to his foundation.

It is a very nice and quiet place. I stayed there for a week in a private room and really enjoyed it. The wifi works, the room was spacious and clean. There is à great atmosphere as some volunteers also stay in a dorm in the building. The owner is really friendly and there to help you and recommend things.

Kirala Garden has a place in my heart! The owner of the hostel Janaka is the most hospitable local you will ever meet and is always happy to share his knowledge and help you out with anything, offering additional services at no extra cost but purely out of his kindness. The hostel location is in the most beautiful jungle setting, just 1km out of Weligama which gave us the perfect mix of being close to the sea yet out of the noisy town, a rooftop fresh breakfast with a view of the monkeys and kingfishers in the garden was particularly my favourite. A lot of his profits go towards helping the Savi Jaya foundatoon, a charity that helps local communities financial hardship. We stayed for 3 weeks and I would definitely return and stay again!

Such an incredible way to be part of something amazing here in Sri Lanka. The hostel is linked to a charity and organises amazing events. It's the most peaceful place, especially up on the roof top in the morning. I practiced yoga up there and it was so serene, looking over the tree tops, with bird song. The host Janaka lives his life in service and I really got to know real Sri Lanka by spending time here. It's less than 10 mins in a Tuk Tuk out of town, just ask for Nadunuyana. Highly Recommend.

Vibrant and local family vibes at weligama forrest Dschungel next to the backwaters. I felt in love with this family and the beautiful environment. Janaka and his parents are the kindest and loving souls Orginal from Sri Lanka. You will have a authentic and natural cultural exchange with the best local secret spots. The Atmosphere is really peaceful and relaxing. They give the best Service, they provide you the most memorable and best time in genuine Sri Lankan family. I have been volunteering at kirala garden 2 weeks and have organized a fundraising project to attain the goal by providing 40 local family’s with foodpackages to the poorest family’s in these many intern crises like economic, political and climate disasters which is a instabile foundation to be self sustainable and independent. It’s time for a crucial profound political revolution to make a positive change. Lots of hope and love from the bottom of the heart. Let your inner light shine and everything around you will be brighter smile that your energy.

An authentic hostel in the most peaceful nature rich location. This morning I had breakfast with the view of the jungle and even got to watch the monkeys playing in the nearby trees. It’s heart warming to hear the owner of the hostel Janaka’s story and to find out about his foundation Savijaya which he has set up for the struggling people of Sri Lanka.

This is such a cool hostel away from all the hustle by a small river set in a beautiful garden with palmtrees, monkeys, peacocks and more! It is a very calm and relaxed atmosphere, more like a community or family! They have good wifi too. It has a shared kitchen, a comfy dorm and lots of chill-out areas like hammocks on the rooftop! Also space for yoga (they have mats!), they organize cooking classes for you (highly recommended!), you can organize a surf lesson including transportation, and whenever you want to go to the city of Weligama for beach or shopping Janaka the owner is happy to give you a ride with his own tuktuk. I highly recommend this place and its activities to get to know the real Sri Lanka off the tourists paths. 🤗

We have been to the cooking class with the lovely mother of the owner. The volunteers explained us all the cooking steps and we even scraped our own coconuts 😍 the place itself is great with a huge garden and rooftop to chill

Kirala Garden is a beautiful place surrounded by nature that allows you to see monkeys, peacocks, and other animals typical of the area. The structure offers both private rooms and hostel, all of which are clean and well organized. The Hostel have their own private lock drawer. As activities you can participate in yoga classes, typical cooking classes, surfing and much more. The owners are friendly and always helpful, just ask to experience and discover the culture of Sri Lanka and they will not disappoint you.
