My friends and I decided to have dinner at this Ocean Basket and it seriously destroyed my OB experience. We were horribly disturbed by cigarette smoke indoors and saw a lady smoking at one of the dining tables. Our waitress noticed that we were pretty upset about this situation and mentioned that unfortunately it's the owner of the Franchise and even though customers complain about it, no action is taken against it. The staff seem just as disturbed about the whole thing. The owner if anything is meant to set an example yet she acts completely unprofessional and is allowed to do what she does. I think it's utterly rude, inconsiderate, unhygienic and unlawful to be smoking in a restaurant like this. It's disgusting and absolutely unacceptable!!! I doesn't matter who you think you are. The complaints seem to stop by the owner because the managers of the restaurant came to apologize on the owner's behalf. She doesn't care about how it's affecting all the customers around her. I refuse to visit this franchise again and if you despise cigarette smoke the way I do, then I wouldn't recommend going to this Ocean Basket. Surely all franchises should upkeep to a certain standard throughout whether you're an owner or not?

We had lunch on Christmasday at OB Welkom. Wow guys , welldone. You were fullhouse but never slipped on service nd quality of food. I dont know how you guys managed but sure you were pulling it off. Thanks to the manager that is always friendly and involved with the customers on the floor. We enjoyed the visit alot. Thanks again.

It's been a while since I have been in an OB with great service. Since the moment I walked in until I walked out, all the staff were friendly and my waiter Max was very friendly and checked up on me to make sure every was to my satisfaction. I am very impressed and thank you OB Welkom team.

Great service and God food, however we were seated next to the owner of the resturant who decided to start smoking cigarettes in the non smoking section at the table next to us. Normally this would be irksome but ok, if it wasn't for the family with two very small children sitting one table over who were also subjected to the second hand smoke also. Please also remember it's winter so all the doors and windows are shut tight.

Waiters was friendly, but rarely assisted us, Waited 1 and a half hours for our food, eventually we left after they said food was still being "dished". Disappointed we are regular visitors in welkom and its just sad that El Mexico was closed, Kfc was it for me then tonight.

Most deliciously fresh seafood I've had in a long time. Portion was good too. Better than Ocean basket's in Pretoria. Well done guys.

Lovely atmosphere, especially the seating outside. Unfortunately, I am not satisfied with the sushi. The majority of the sushi were rice and minimum salmon and other fillings. The sushi also took more than an hour to be served ? Perhaps have a professional assist the team to create the sushi faster and serve the right portion of rice vs. other fillings.

When you think of ocean basket you think of a nice pleasant evening - well tonight was horrible. They hosted a semi private event where the people brought their own speaker and played music so loud that my husband and I had to shout at each other just to hear what one another’s saying on the opposite side of the restaurant. We complained about it and the manager just said he can’t do anything about it. I never thought that ocean basket in welkom would become a club - because that is how it felt tonight. We drove al the way from Kroonstad just to drive back after we ordered starters and took that as take-away. What a waste.

We went last night, amazing atmosphere and friendly staff. Food was absolutely fantastic, only thing is that we had to wait long for the Crusted Kingklip, it arrived quite a while after the other food was brought to the table. But it was worth the wait, it's now my favorite dish on the menu.

Not happy. Restaurant not busy and food and drinks take long to arrive.Worst of all we not through the pandemic yet and the waiters and management not wearing masks. Made us feel very uneasy as they come very close to the table and not even cover their mouths. When we left i felt like I had to go and take a shower to sanitize myself. Don't think we will return there again. Safety first.

Excellent service, friendly helpful staff. Food was outstanding. I had the sticky rice with mussels and prawns as a meal. Very tasty, well presented and excellent quality. Very affordable. For desert I had the Berry Marshmallow whip. Very nice and a not too overwhelming in size. Lovely affordable meal. Definitely would recommend a visit to the Welkom Ocean Basket

Edit update: thank you to Ocean basket management for making an effort to contact me and setting it right. It shows professionalism from your side regarding client care. Very very disappointed. Sushi as well as food is not up to standard. I was here 2 years ago and it was much better. Today I am really disappointed. Staff making sushi was also eating of it as they make it FOH. That is also a health risk as we are in COVID times. Unfortunately won't return again.

With sad regret, waiters are very slow. Always waiting too long for n next order drink. Waiting for food almost 2hours on a non busy day... We use to love coming to ocean basket and always tip well and loved the vibe....

Had enjoyable experience until music was increased beyond acceptable levels I asked waiter to lower the volume, was told they can’t lower the volume, it was increased at owner’s request. The owner who seem to struggle with having conversation without shouting top of his lungs was sitting approximately 7meters away from my table and had arrived and parked his motorcycle right infront of the restaurant and gave his bike a rev before turning it off Nice facility, bad experience, sadly not from staff but owner
