My partner and kids went for a meal for his birthday. We didn’t have any reservations and we didn’t call. But when we called there the dining area was empty just a table so we were greeted and sit down on one of the tables with food menus.Fast forward we order our drinks this is around 6pm and we got served the drinks. After about 20 minutes cause we were waiting for our order to be taking regards the food a blond woman which apparently was the manager came to our table and asked us to finish our drinks and get out(literally that’s what she said to get out) because apparently all the tables are reserved and they can’t serve us food.We weren’t the only table that been asked to leave was another table that came after us.I found this very rude because if they didn’t have any tables available they should of told us from the beginning and not sat us down and 30 min later to kick us out.Another thing is that they say child friendly or whatever but is no kids menu and when I asked about kids food I was told is only what is on the menu but I found it hard to find something that my 3 year old can eat.The menu doesn’t have lots of choices even for me as an adult was lots of fish which I don’t eat steak, salad and pork belly and a vegetarian hamburger and normal one.We will definitely not going to go back after how rude we were treated and I will definitely not recommend to anybody.Shame that was so much money invested to have staff that don’t communicate and are rude.PS I hope the manager is not the owner cause she has no customer service skills at all.

Ordered a cappuccino and Decaff tea at half 2 on a Saturday afternoon, gent behind the bar took the order and we paid, then we waited for an absolute age. When chased - it turned out he forgot to process the order, said he completely forgot, so we were sitting there waiting - very annoying! Other than that experience - pub looks tremendous, hoping for a better customer service experience when we try again, will go back because they’ve done a great job

Decided we'd visit after the refurbishment, and wow, we were taken back by the extensive work done. I ate here tonight with friends, the atmosphere was buzzing, live music starts at 9, really really busy, food is absolutely spot on and staff are really welcoming and friendly. Will definitely return. Oh, p.s. even better, it's dog friendly 😊

Just popped into the local and remembered they have started serving food. We had the vegetarian mozzarella Wellington and the steak and ale pie. Absolutely gorgeous 😍😍 plus we happened to go on a Wednesday and got 15% off the whole bill! After this we sat in the bar for another drink. The atmosphere was lovely and surprisingly vibrant for a Wednesday night. Staff were all lovely too, we will be coming more often!!

We only dined there and we were so happy with amazing food. The serving girls were do helpful. We both had the sweet potato pie with seasons vegetables, I personally haven't tasted anything that nice for many years. I'd recommend it to anyone.

We love the pub and it's our local and we often pop in for a pint or two. We thought we would treat ourselves to a meal on our day off so we popped in. It was a Tuesday night and not particularly busy when we arrived. The food was lovely but the service wasn't. We were first told there were no mushy peas as the chef wasn't happy to send them out, which was fine and I appreciated the honesty, then we were told there was no coleslaw for my partner's meal. My partner asked for mayo with his meal and was told they had run out!?! We could deal with that but what really irked us was the fact we waited an hour for our food. There was no apology or offer of a free drink etc. We enjoyed our food, but the service has put us off returning to eat again.

We were staying in a hotel local and strayed across this place. From the outside it looks very unassuming but when we walked in it was gorgeous. It had an external courtyard with converted barn and stable areas. The inside was a mix of old and new and just beautiful. It was a fairly standard menu but the food was delicious. I had a fish and chips and it was crispy, non greasy and massive, very nice! The staff were polite and provided a good service. My only downfall was that there was a single member who very blatantly did not want to serve us. Upon arrival he barely looked at us, and wouldn't answer our question( are you serving food) and a second staff member stepped in. And again when we went back to the bar for more drinks, 3 staff members were serving a single set of customers, and the staff member again, eventually reluctantly came over to us... but as he did, he got in discussion with someone else and just walked off leaving us to be served by someone else. Felt very strange to us and genuinely not sure what caused the animosity perhaps something ro do with not being local. But overall, nice staff, good food, lovely pub.

Fantastic local pub, especially after the recent refurbishment. Lots of original features have been kept so it keeps its classic charm and the new extension is very sympathetic to the older parts of the building - none of it looks out of place. Ample parking, hot food and breakfast is available as well as the usual bar snacks. There is also a large outdoor seating area and they have converted the old stables into a outdoorish seating area too. Recommended to visit, it is my new favourite local!

Brilliant refurb, really lovely pub with good food. Allow dogs and have a good offer for gluten free. Prices are reasonable and service is good. Plenty of parking. This is a pub with great service, good drinks, tasty food with lots of dietary options and beautiful interior that really suits the history and style of the pub. Well done guys

Beautiful old traditional pub that has been sympathetically improved to provide more seating. Small but varied menu and very good ale. All in all a great meal out with friendly staff.

AVOID!! Treating my family to a roast dinner I was very very disappointed with the attitude of the blonde manageress!! Found a hair in my lunch and was told by her to get over it! Heard her talking to her own staff shouting and screeching at them. Food wasnt worth the money!! AVOID

Had a meal there tonight for 6. Starter garlic mushrooms which only had a very mild garlic taste so a bit disappointing. Main course ordered lamb burger - this was inedible. Didn't taste at all like lamb was very very salty. Also the coleslaw was salty. Sent it back. Waited an eternity for deserts but when they came mine was a delicious peach crumble which was lovely. We also waited an eternity for the sixth main course which was only a Caesar salad! We all had ours and sat waiting for our friend to receive his caesar salad only to be told chicken had been dropped on floor and it had to be recooked!! Anyway it was nice when it eventually came. I didnt pay for my lamb burger and they gave us two free deserts. Wasn't impressed in general. First time here but we won't be returning

Must have passed this place many times in the last 10 years and never gave it a thought, but..........went for dinner on a whym and......absolutely amazing! Food was excellent..took me back to my younger years. Faggots.mash n peas..wow. followed by live music from Rowan Lawson. Amazing guitarist with many songs in his repertoire old and new. Staff were friendly and accomodating. I'll be back for more soon. If you want good food at reasonable price than go here.

Came tonight with my family, the food was exceptional!!! Ross is a credit to the place with this autumn menu, something for everyone. Chelsea was brilliant serving us. It was busy and we absolutely had no complaints at all.

I attended the wake after my cousin's funeral. The staff were friendly, and the hotel is an interesting old building with a lot of history, but is a comfortable venue for modern needs. The food was excellent. I was very impressed.

First time attending this restaurant after it had been freshly refurbished, meal was booked at 3 was sat down without any waiting. Drinks order was taken very quickly but must of miss heard what I wanted as I said pint but was only given half glass. Food selection was very good and very impressed to be honest was very delicious and came out nice and hot ! Wasn’t given much gravy each time we asked for more between 4 of us adults ended up asking for it 4 times. After finishing food 1 of us ordered sticky toffee pudding for dessert to which took well over 25-30 minutes to come out but the staff came to our table twice asking us to pay the bill ? Was pretty rude & to add to it the staff were all sat down on this one table so we had to get up and ask what was happening with it so we can pay and leave. Overall very good and well presented restaurant but just a bit of disappointment in the service we received

We booked for 17.30 then had to wait as the chefs were having a meeting - come on folks if you have customers you don't do meetings! Starters were delicious and I wish we'd stopped there. Mains were very disappointing, the choice of veg was pathetic - broccoli 2 very small pieces and quite a few green beans (they must have been the cheaper option) how unimaginative just green veg no colour or variety. Chicken supreme was ok but definitely not value for money. Its a lovely pub to sit, chat, have a drink and a starter but avoid if you want mains. Sadly we probably won't visit again.

We have eaten here 3 times in the past 5 weeks and every meal has been delicious. The 1st visit we had the ploughman's and it was fresh, tasty and plentiful 2nd visit my husband and I had the steak and ale pie, I usually order pies mainly for the pastry but this pie had me leaving some of the pastry in favour for the fabulous filling. It was hands up the best pie I have ever eaten. My father in law had the gammon and chips again very nice and a good thick piece of gammon The 3rd visit we all had fish and chips, very tasty crispy fish and plenty of chips none of us actually managed to finish the meal Can't wait to try the new menu

Fantastic Sunday dinner, all cooked fresh nice and hot and a good variety of food. Just like a home cooked dinner. Friendly staff, the owners were very attentive and made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be making this a regular place to visit.

Very pleased with the refurbishment of the pub, it's managed to keep the charm of a traditional pub, and be comfortable and lovely relaxing atmosphere. We didn't try the food, but definitely will in the near future. Cheers

Food was excellent, couldn't fault it and plenty of it. Very nicely decorated. There wasn't many in the day we visited so quite quiet but will definitely visit again and I would recommend.

Had an unplanned visit here a couple of weeks ago. I didn't really expect much but I was so impressed. Nice vibe, good service and the crispy pork belly meal was one of the best meals I've had all year! Definitely worth a visit!

I like this refurbished place. Have been several times since completed. If I have any criticism it's that there are no guest ales, just Joules brands. Whilst that is fine for a couple of pints it means I wouldn't stop for a session with my friends, and since there is nowhere else local we would visit that probably means we wouldn't go I the first place - so places like the Pheasant in Wellington would win out.

Me and my family love the atmosphere and the religion is beautiful. Anyone is welcome to come. You can earn many merits and good deeds and learn about Buddhism and what we’re all about. Children are also very welcome as it helps them learn about other beliefs

Joules has done it again. Beautifully recently renovated. Stunning inside and huge courtyard which is also clean and comfortable. Great venue for functions or just a couple of cold ones after a hard day's work.
