We made reservations in advance and stayed after about 300 miles of leaving Frankfort, Germany ! Excellent place to stay in a small quiet town! Immediately upon arrival in early evening, there were people sitting in beautiful outdoor furniture under huge trees! There was dinning tables with huge canopy style umbrellas on a concrete patio lined with huge potted trees. We admired the scenery and made a quick decision to join the other guests, after checking in and before dinner They have an open bar built between garden and outdoor dinning. It was so inviting!! These rooms were small but accommodated us perfectly! With twin beds, big closets, a fridge, desk and chair, large full-length wall mirror, hair dryer, lots of wall outlets, constant hot water, etc . During check-in, we were givien a room on an upper floor level, with no elevator to accommodate, once we explained my health condition, without any questions, we were moved to a ground floor which was extremely thoughtful! All employees were exceptionally polite and helpful. All spoke English as a second language. Right after we received our drinks, it began to rain! We didn't allow the rain to ruin our evening, thus went to shelter, straight to their restaurant! The decor reminded me of a casual European 1950's era! Choices to sit were booths or tables.with a vase of fresh flowers and lit candles! We ordered from their menu . Each ordered a different meal with thoughts to share. Taking our time and not being rushed, this was an enjoyable evening with great food, beer and wine. What an Excellent Guest house to visit when on a road trip. After devouring a delicious buffet breakfast, we toured the gardens which was quite pleasant. Taking a stroll around this quaint town was terrific. After returning to Gasthof Maxlhald, it was time to load up and get back on the road again!

Amazing place. Our car broke down far from 'base' and ADAC (!!) placed us in this great Gasthof. Great staff. Austrian hospitality at its core as I've experienced it for the past 5+ decades!

Best Hotel we stayed at due to a breakdown of car, Austrian Automotive Club dropped us off here. A secret jewel with a nearby local museum. Very helpful personal, very diverse and high quality breakfast (open buffet style) and lunch.

We were on our way back home to Ukraine and we stopped in this small town for the night. I booked the hotel and within the hour we were in our very spacious family room with an extra pull out bed for our daughter. On checking in the young receptionist was very pleasant, friendly, accommodating and professional. On the way out the elderly lady matched that if not more. Beer was good and welcome after 900km drive from Germany. Breakfast, although not strong on choices but plentiful, fresh and delicious. There is nothing to criticise or dislike. We will definitely make a point of stopping there should we have to make such a trip again.

Rooms are perfect! Little bit to small but very clean and new! Food in the restaurant is good but nothing special. Salad was completely full of olive oil. Location is at an industrial area.

Staying in the hotel part rather than the guest house, room is large clean and modern. Excellent shower (no bath) WiFi is free reliable and high Speed. The staff are very friendly and cope easily with an English man with no German! The food is of high quality and not overly expensive. Menu choice is select rather than massive but not necessarily a bad thing.

Enjoyed my stay in this nice hotel. Rooms are big, clean and relatively new. The hotel is somewhat of the beaten track, so you need some wheels to get to the town of Wels. Breakfast is ok, nothing special. Lunch and diner are good.

It is a very beautiful hotel. We were there with our Border Collie. The surrounding gardens are nice. There is a gym and wellness with two saunas. The staff is very helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed to stay there ❤️

Super nice rooms, a bit small, nice food and fresh😁, but at 12.pm on the weekdays the wifi and tv is out. 😔✌️and the wine in the room was open.

Beautiful hotel surrounded by gardens. They have a nice restaurant which unfortunately was closed when we were there. There are not many restaurants around this area so we had to walk more than 30 mins to the closest restaurant. Other than that the experience staying in this hotel is great. Thumbs up 👍🏾👍🏾
