When a family member seeks help for their loved ones due to mental health the hospital should turn to the family to ask questions. I have repeatedly made calls but can't seem to get through to anyone. When I finally was able to talk to a therapist her response is I don't have the time to call family back. This shows no concern for their patients. If they truly want to help the patients they should be communicating with the ones that know the patient the most.

Avoid this place at all costs if you have insurance. They will not release you in 72hrs. You will not get your meds until 3 days later. And they will try to confuse you on the proper channel to get you or your loved ones out of there. They are telling patients you will get more time if you sign the Right to Release form. I am a parent and my daughter just went through this nightmare. I was on the outside seeking advise from another facility staff member who specifically told me to have her sign the form. Multiple staff members tried to get her to rescind this form and threatened more time there if she didn't. What they are doing here is wrong and unethical.

I have never in my life dealt with a place that holds someone for no reason and milks insurance as much as N Tampa Behavioral Health. I am not a patient but the parent of a patient. They have done nothing but hurt my child's future, broken laws, and violated federal guidelines. Please please keep your loved ones away from this place. They will never return your phone calls and let you know anything about your loved one. Jail would be more helpful than here.

Horrible place, do NOT let them take your teen in crisis to this facility!! Our teen came out 2 weeks later much worse than when they went in, including wearing clothes belonging to their "first real love" (schizophrenic runaway from down south) and fully refusing to be verbal with us at the staffs advice. Admins and front office workers are solid but doctors and nurses will pander to your childs delusions instead of help them just to get them out the door as fast as possible n get paid!!!

This place is miserable. They do not tell you what's going on, the will lie to you about your discharge date every single day. The "group therapy" is literally just yoga or coloring children's books. No real therapy. They will put people who came in for something simple as debilitating anxiety, and dose them with Seroquel. That's insane. I was only there for about three days, but I was lucky. I wasn't given a towel for two days, nor a toothbrush, or even told the rules of the facility, until I was about to go home. Some of the staff are nice and really want to help, (Mr. Chris is an amazing guy, you can tell he really cares) while others will mock you and enjoy making you miserable. I've sadly seen patients who were told their discharge was the next day, over and over again, and those were the patients with insurance. I can GUARANTEE that if I had insurance, I would've been forced to stay for a week minimum. This place is a insurance scam, and they make you feel worse coming out than when you went in there. My anxiety has gotten MUCH worse since being there, it's literally a place that will treat you like a convicted felon, not a patient who needs help. For the love of God, do not go there or send your family members there. Just go to St Joseph's, or Tampa General. I can't stress it enough. The psych evaluations last only 5 minutes, and they will dose you on drugs after just a 5 minute talk. I didn't, but I was one of the lucky few. Have insurance? Enjoy being held captive. They do not care if you're not depressed or suicidal. Insurance = you're now a prisoner there.

Staff gossip with patients..abusive nurses...no treatment at all for first 24 hrs. DONT LET YOUR LOVED ONE GO HERE. If you voluntary admit after 5 pm ..you will not get medicine until you see dr next day. Admission person doesnt tell you that on admit. They also put on papers I was suicidal when I told them I was not. As my experience as a nurse...They did that so they could admit me and collect ins money. Trust me as a retired RN .. do not go here!! Looks pretty outside and in lobby...not so good in back. I lived hell on earth in there for 24 hrs. They dont know how to treat PTSD.

I was a patient at this facility. I saw first hand how patients are treated. Clothing wasn’t provided immediately to some patients, I even had to provide her with my own clothing because she didn’t have any of her own. It has been a year and 2 months since my stay at the facility and they are STILL charging me even though they are supposed to talk to my insurance company in taking care of that. I am absolutely furious by their unprofessionalism. Mental health is not a priority, MONEY is. I wish mental health was taken as seriously as it should be rather than turning it into a prison where patients are not taken care of properly. Please do not go to this place.

DANGEROUS PLACE ! My girlfriend went in for a refill on her prescription. They Baker Acted her against her will. They refused to let me speak with her over the phone. The employee “Miguel” hung up the phone on me and refused to answer my calls to contact my girlfriend. We are seeking legal action against this location. If you love your friend or family, do not let them go anywhere near this place. It will do them more harm than good. This is not a recovery facility. It’s a money business for each patient they have. More patients more money. NO HELP, DANGEROUS!!!!

My daughter is currently being held here on a Baker Act beyond the time that a Baker Act is legally supposed to be. She has no access to anything but a community TV. No books, etc. She was overdosed by clearly incompetent employees and taken to the ER. I received no information during this period. Their phones are not working, and they call me 4-6 times in a row, hanging up each time. I have to call THEM to get any information. I've been told I cannot request a facility transfer even though other facilities and lawyer's offices are saying I absolutely can. Terrible experience, and I'm not even the one there. Edit: She has now been there for 6 days. I have not spoken to her in 23 hours. I cannot reach the director, administrator, or a case manager or social worker. 2nd Edit: She was held for 8 and a half days. On the 9th day, she was released. I NEVER heard from a social worker or case manager regarding the facility transfer I wanted since day 1. I was given misinformation, lied to, and ignored. Twice, I was not able to talk to my daughter for about 24 hours. Their reasons for holding her were that they wanted her to be able to regulate her emotions (which can take months, if not years, in therapy to learn) and because she was having auditory and visual hallucinations (which we already knew about and have been trying to address with her psychiatrist and counselor). I'm glad that my daughter is home. This was a really stressful, scary experience for her, for me, and for the rest of our family. On a brighter note, she days that many of the nurses seemed to genuinely care about the patients, and she liked the soda machine in the dining room. The only other facility she's been at doesn't have that.

This place is Horrible overall… Employees are not treated well and are forced to comply with orders that are not acceptable and safe… The CNO is extremely corrupt and should be removed from office immediately… The pay is unacceptable and should be more than just the minimum wage…The patients are not safe and neither are the staff.. There is no coverage when needed and nurses are always threatened with their licenses if they don’t comply with unethical practices…Reports are being shredded and or destroyed in order to keep investigations under control.. This place should be closed down immediately and some administrative staff should be replaced immediately with staff members who will be responsible for all staff matters….

My father was admitted to this behavioral health hospital on Friday last week. No one from this facility contacted my family in the first 48 hours. My 82 yo mother stopped there with some clothing etc for him but she was not allowed to see him. No one contacted us for any health history. After 48 hours I called and demanded to speak with someone...who spoke with me but reluctantly! I was then put into a voicemail but no return call. The first called I got was to make me a proxy to make decisions for my incompetent father. They wanted something from me so I gave them an earful. The second call was 24 hrs later again they needed to give my dad a drug to clam him immediately, I warned them of his response to that particular drug. "We will watch him!" Next morning I get a call that my dad had an unwitnessed fall and they need to take him to the nearby medical facility. "How will I know what is going on and whether he will return to your facility?" We will call you. Hours later no follow up....again I call and was sent to a voicemail. I called back and let the poor receptionist have it. I asked for management. Management was very professional but agin no answer but she would follow up. Instead I got a call from a nurse apologizing....no follow up from management. In my eyes not a good choice! Never a call from care management or a treatment plan...wait after my blow up my mother received a call. Thursday morning my mom gets a call that my dad can be discharged at 1pm. My mom did say they want him to have follow up. Maybe some respite care. I again left a message for the case management wanting to make sure it would be safe to return home with my mom. No return call! Who is working in this place? I told you that my mom is not safe in her home when he is there. I guess you don't care!

My husband was just admitted there and it has been absolutely atrocious. You have to watch what you say because you worry about them back lashing and keeping them there longer. Let me tell you when my husband is released I am going to make sure that this happens to nobody else. I have requested to speak with the psychiatrist new phone call back phone calls have been ignored , mind you I am on the release to be able to speak on his behalf. They have kept him well beyond the 72 hour hold, Now he’s being released even another day later because the doctor forgot to do the paperwork that is absolutely unacceptable!! Oh wait let’s not forget that it’s a 12 bed facility and they have 22 people in there… just because a patient has insurance they keep them longer somethings gonna be done!! Whatever you do do not allow a family member to go to this place!! It’s a A shame what they do to people being allowed to keep them longer than need be. They overstep their boundaries. But I’m going to assure you I’m going to try doing everything so it doesn’t happen to the next person. Uncalled for!!

My friend has 3 different addictions. When I was with him...the doctor said North Tampa would not help him detox because his breath did not smell/test for alcohol. Apparently you have to be drinking beer or drunk to be accepted and helped...when you arrive at this "detox center."

Can I post a 0 star ? This place is the worst place ever. It’s literally straight from a horror movie. They are illegally holding their patients and are nothing but scams! They are doing no help to urge individuals in there. I went there to pick up my family member and they held ME(who was not a patient) hostage. Would not let me out of the facility and threatened to call the cops. I could only imagine what the patients feel like inside. I wouldn’t wish my worst enemy on this place. Please seek health elsewhere !!!

My grandson was Baker Acted and sent to this facility. The doctors never communicated anything about what was being done for him. We left various message for the doctor to call so that we could discuss the treatment that they were giving my grandson. The doctor never returned the calls. We had to aquire a lawyer to get him released. When he was finally released, after 6 days, he had on the same clothes that they gave him when he first arrived. They did not give us copies of his medical records and the doctors never spoke to us about the treatment that he was supposed to be getting. This place was trying to keep him there so that they could bill his insurance. This is the worst place to have a loved one admitted to.

I was belittled and ridiculed by one of their poster nurses when i was put under a bakeract. Ramonita Salcedo is an aggressive and malicious nurse that shouldn't be working there. Every chance she had she would constantly treat me like someone who was lesser than her. When i was supposed to take my meds i was never informed while i was in "her wing." The staff here is atrocious and unprofessional. If you ever go somewhere for help, PLEASE do not go here. They are only there for your money and nothing else.

**IF YOU HAVE A CHOICE, DO NOT USE THIS PLACE. THE TERRIBLE RATING AVERAGE IS COMPLETELY JUSTIFIED** I see a lot of bad reviews and now I know why. The communication to concerned parents is horrible. My stepdaughter is currently in the adolescent unit and my wife has been trying to call and get an update on her care for DAYS. Nobody answers the phone. Nobody has called to update us or discuss how she is doing. We have only gotten 2 calls from them, and that was only to authorize Tylenol and one other medication. No discussion about how she's doing, no talking to the doctor, nothing. Once we finally got someone (a nurse on the unit), she said she was sitting at the desk and didn't hear the phone ring at all. Things happen and I understand missing a call or two, but I watched my wife call multiple times on multiple days, get connected to the unit, and it just rings and rings and is not answered. So, I don't buy that they are available and just somehow are not getting the calls. I also see the owner responding here a lot, which is good... but it doesn't seem like things have improved. It's simple - communicate better with the families of the patients, especially the young ones. Parents with kids in there are going through a lot and are concerned, so if anything, the goal should be over-communication. I can imagine caring for patients like this is challenging, but communication is not challenging. It just needs to be prioritized. UPDATE: My wife, after finally getting in touch with the staff yesterday, told the staff that she wanted my daughter discharged. She is a voluntary patient. The process is a 24 hour one so the doctor can discharge the patient. We just found out that nobody ever told the doctor, so now we have to wait until at least Monday (its Friday) to get her a date for discharge, which is probably Tuesday at the earliest. She has been there since Tuesday and has only seen the doctor once. This facility is ABHORRENT in its care of patients and in its communication with families. Again, DO NOT USE THIS PLACE. I am going to research where to file complaints against it. I work in healthcare and this is completely unacceptable.

This place is the worst. I have never been to a facility before. I can assure you i will never land in this kind of places. I would not wish what i went through in this place to my worst enemy. Instead of helping people they give you more trauma. They don’t help you out. You are just a prisoner. My baker act was was lifted the day i got there and because i did not want to sign papers to be there voluntarily they placed the baker act again. One of the psychiatrist that works there saw me the in AM i told him everything it was due to the IUD and once i was out it would be removed. He knew i was not lying. But another psychiatrist Dr. Khan put the baker act again because I would not sign the volunteer form. The first day was the longest talk i had with a psychiatrist there and it was about 5 min. He did much of the talking. Dr Khan i only saw for 2 minutes and it was to tell me that he was putting the baker act again. If you have good health insurance do not go here they will leave you here to cash in from your insurance. I was there from 06/18-06/27. When the first psychiatrist new i was fine. The food looked and smelled horrible. I did not eat until the last 2 days i was there that i had a salad because i felt so weak and sick. The bathroom was infested with Ants. There was mold on the wall in the bathroom. There were people with dementia that were not given a shower for days. They were always short staffed. There was just one tech that really cared. One of the days she was there by herself doing everything. No other tech was there and no one else helped her. It was about 20 people. 3 of them had dementia one was in a wheelchair, and another one that was bipolar. The bipolar woman was abusive. I don't know if any other place is run like this but i will definitely will never find out. This place needs to be shut down. This place is a scam. Oh and i had to sign an authorization to disclose any information for my sister 3 times because they said they never had it.

It’s too bad you can’t rate 0 stars. This place is horrible. If you are thinking about taking your loved one there or going there yourself I suggest you run the other way. This place is inhumane. They will hold you hostage past the 72 hours if you have insurance. They try to keep you for at least 6 months. The force you to take medication without the proper information. They’ll refuse you proper meals if you have a different diet or diet restrictions restrictions. They absolutely do not care to help you. Please, do not go here if you have a choice. #freebriley

I recently spent 6 days voluntarily being admitted to this facility. The facility is clean and my experience once admitted was a safe one, which is why I granted 2 stars. The admitting process was horrific, spending 2 hours in a hallway with 2 other incoming patients, both males, and doors locked on all sides of me with no one checking in on us. No safety in that process whatsoever. From arrival to being shown to my room took four hours. The staff was very unprofessional and uncaring. When I finally got to my room, the bed had been made with badly stained sheets and the blankets had holes. Do not expect any therapy here. The 'agenda' is full, but it is not followed. In the 6 days I was there, only 3 times was I allowed outside for fresh air. The agenda calls for 4 times daily. One group session per day was offered for therapy, and another for recreation. Four sessions daily is what is listed on the agenda, much of which is to be led by the 'techs' who did nothing but scroll on their phones. The food was plentiful but not palatable and we all looked forward to twice daily snacks to carry us through. I requested a meeting with the patient advocate who never showed up, and even met the CEO in the hallway who responded positively to my request for a meeting about the lack of services, but also never showed up. The medical director declined to discuss the lack of therapy and actually jogged away down the hall to get away from my request to meet with him. One therapist spoke to a family member as part of my assessment and offered a family intervention, but no other therapist even knew what that meant, so I discharged without having my family involved in any treatment plan. I was told that a psychiatry and a therapy appointment would be scheduled for me to attend within 7 - 10 days after discharge. Again, no one else knew what to make of that promise. Kudos to one person - Nicholas Shain - who actually took the time before discharge to reach out to therapists local to me in hopes of getting me an appointment before I left.

I should have read the reviews first. I called ahead for care for my teen and they said they would take him. After filling out their forms they told me to go to a nearby hospital for medical clearance. He got the medical clearance and 6 hours later the doctor is stating they will not accept him. What a waste of time. After reading the poor reviews about children after the fact , I dodged a bullet. It obviously could have been worse.

I would not go here to detox from anything including peanuts. There are some bright spots, but few and far in between. Processing in and out of the facility is a nightmare. DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING OF VALUE!!!!! YOU MIGHT NEVER GET IT BACK!!! There were others in my group where their things were lost. After you are admitted into the area where you are detoxing, the staff does work pretty hard to make sure everyone is being taken care of and their needs addressed. You will almost always have a room mate. Hopefully you do not get one like I did. If you consider going here, then take a deep breath and consider rehabbing yourself. You will save money, time, and aggravation from this facility. What a #@$# mess.

WARNING ⚠️ FOR YOURSELF OR A LOVED ONE, DO NOT GO ⚠️ I went in voluntarily seeking treatment because I no longer wanted to be dependent on pain medication. After many hours in the waiting area I was taken for assessment around 3:30am where I was given a stack of papers to sign. Around 4 o’clock in the morning I was taken to the unit. I was there to be detoxed using medication assisted treatment and I was woken up being screamed at to go to breakfast after lying down for 2 hours and then I was told I could not go because I had to wait for the doctor. By the time everyone else had returned from breakfast I was in heavy withdrawls I asked the nurse if they could give me anything as there is usually a standard protocol and there was nothing ordered and I was told I had to wait to see the doctor. One of the papers I had signed when I arrive stated that I could sign myself out and also that two of my kids could sign me out. I requested the paper to sign out and I was told that I had to wait and see a doctor care so I explain that I Wasn’t getting the treatment that claimant seeking, and it took almost 24 hours for me to see a doctor and by that time I was vomiting and had an accident in my pants in which The unlicensed untrained Behavioral health text stated it was part of detox I received a note when I finally did see a doctor they wanted to keep me due to my high heart rate likely caused from the anxiety of being locked in a place against my will. After 72 hours was up which is The legal time that they are allowed to hold for a Baker act which I was not even in there for, the doctor told me I would be signing out against medical advice as my pulse rate was high and that he would report me to the nursing board because I am a professional, after all the hard work I put in to become a nurse in the 20 years I waited I was willing to give that up in order to get out of that place.

I cannot say a single pleasant thing about this facility. Just for a cheeky laugh. Go to “about us” and then click “community resources & local news” once you’ve reached that page click on “Military Family Support.” You will then find yourself faced with a very surface level description of how support can help the entire family. Here’s where the good bit happens… click the link at the bottom of that article. You will then find yourself taken to a gambling page. Here you are treated to a wide selection of gambling and lottery options and how to use them. I’m so happy to know that this facility protects and supports addicts. They’re really providing patients with the resources they need 😂

I wouldn't leave my worst enemy here. This is the stuff you see in lifetime movies. They take you hostage and then try to take your rights. They especially like hostages that have good insurance. Smells an awful lot like insurance fraud and corporate greed to me. But don't take my word for it, check out the many articles and litigation you can find on Google with similar stories. This place is an absolute nightmare.

I was referred to this facility through the VA. At no point during my intake interview was I told it was a locked facility. I don’t do well I’m locked places I don’t have a key to. Wanting to work on some serious issues I decided to tough it out. I had a verbal agreement with my treatment team that I would be allowed to leave at any time. I was told by staff that the doors were locked to protect the military or M- Unit from people in acute psych. I agreed to stay as long as I could. I came into this 30 day program with a clear mind and was focused on doing some real work. During my 14-day stay I had 3 therapy sessions. Not even close people. This “business” is a cash cow that charges veterans $1000.00 a day. The food is atrocious, the facilities are sub-human. When I requested to discharge after a therapist mocked a fellow veteran, I was told that I would be held until the next day. I posed no risk to myself or others. I was never seen by a doctor of any kind during this supposedly necessary hold. They wanted to be able to bill another $1000. 00 day. The nurses and medical techs are the only thing good about this place. If I could give a lower rating I would. Please do not go here if you are actually looking to heal. If you are looking for 3 bad meals and a place to spin your wheels, this is the place for you.

Was forced to go here by my father. They kept me longer because I had Tricare. It was like a low security prison. Had to sleep in a room covered in feces. Multiple fights broke out. Nurse was actively promoting conspiracy theories on impressionable people. Outpatient group was encouraging people's delusions and telling them to self medicate with marijuana. Stayed to have a mental health report and they wrote me down as triggering the other patients by pacing and being jumpy, I'm hyperactive and they did not accommodate for that. Told me to keep going to their outpatient program long after the mandatory for a "better report" and hinted they would Baker act me. What a racket.

Excellent staff and program if you are receptive. If given the opportunity, take full advantage of this top notch team. They are all professional even if they may be short staffed at times. Everything isn't for everyone but, this place is exactly what I needed to regain control of my whole life. Shout out to the whole Unit B staff! You helped me get my life on track and that's all that matters to me. Thank you!

This facility actively manipulates its patients into signing documents that keep them longer than necessary, seems to participate in practices seeking to defraud insurance and Medicaid, and makes little to no effort to properly diagnose and treat the people admitted here. They treat charts and paperwork not patients. It is a money making machine that disregards the welfare of the most vulnerable among us. If your loved one is a patient here seek legal advice immediately. Get them transferred to a facility that actually cares.

This place should not be called a mental health facility. They are not allowing visitors to see their loved ones and using Covid as an excuse. How is keeping people from their support system helpful? Looks like they have a history of keeping people longer to collect more money. Keep yourself and your loved ones far away from this place.

Bi-polar disorder is a very challenging illness to deal with. My mom has been through many ups and downs dealing with it over the years. She was baker acted 10 days ago and there were no open psych hospitals in her area so she was transferred here. While reading the reviews, I was very apprehensive about having her go here. But this place turned out to be the best place she could have gone. They communicated well. They listened to me when I told them what medications she had previously been on. And they had 2 psychiatrists evaluate her daily. After being discharged, she has the potential to get back to baseline after only having been manic for 2 weeks, where her previous episodes lasted months and sometimes over a year. So, thank you to this place for helping my mom.

This facility is a complete scam and the doctors will charge you $250-700 per 10 minute visit with you each day. That doesn’t include the facility fees either such as room and board, labs, etc. they’ll hold you voluntarily but when you want to go, then they’ll bait and switch and file to keep you there another 3-5 days. It’s all a scam. We should all join together and sue this facility.

This place doesn't deserve stars at all. They deserve to be shut down. Insurance fraud, holding people against their will not for their safety but for the PAYCHECK. ITS DISGUSTING. and on top of this, instead of facing this head on the delete Facebook comments. They make it so you cannot comment on their page. Do NOT send your loved ones here. Do not support this place. They steal time, money and sanity away from patients for THEIR FINANCIAL GAIN ONLY! The doctors should be arrested for breaking the law. You cannot silence people for speaking up for the innocent lives you are messing with.

I recently was discharged from the CORE program at North Tampa, and I could not recommend the program more. Not only did I start the program with a negative mindset, I was adamant that my problems were unrelatable and could not be fixed. From day one in the program I knew I was wrong. I was treated with firmness but respect from all the staff members, and it was clear that they truly saw us as people they badly wanted to help and not prisoners or even patients, in the sense that we were just a number. There were minor issues that we experienced while there. Due to the change in leadership, there were a few growing pains the facility was going through but whenever an issue had an effect on patient care or even our moral, the issue was addressed the same day that a patient brought it up. The most important feature of the facility is the treatment, in just 30 days I was able to build a healthy foundation for my mental health after years of neglect. This program is my number one recommendation for any veterans or military members who meet the criteria for treatment.

I have a loved one who is currently being held at this facility. The entire inpatient mental health area is a huge disappointment, as I learned my loved one has been denied their regular medications for ADHD and being forced onto psychotropic meds?! I have called many staff people who are supposed to be helping the patient, and none have returned my call to discuss her normal functionality, diagnosis, and/or underlying health concerns! Unacceptable!!!

Since my husband has been there he has fell and had gotten stitches. We asked what happened and couldn’t get a straight story. We call call call and not once has anyone called us back. We set in a note twice or so now for the doctor to call us and no response. They seem to be keeping him alive but his mind has gotten worse since he’s been there.

Mrs. Danielle and Mrs. Dominique were true professionals and truly did care and really helped me way more than they will ever know . Doctor Davis was good and was professional . There were a couple cranky nurses on duty but don’t let the bad apples spoil the bunch . It is a good place to go for recovery , especially the faculty in the gym ! Thank you north Tampa for giving me the tools to my evolving recovery .

the CORE program at this facility is second to none. The employees come to work everyday and you would never know they had anything else in their lives to do but their jobs. They never complain and always have the patients well being at the front of their mind. They felt like family. Thanks to all that are a part of that program. You have forever changed my life!!!!!!!!

This was hell. I wouldn't wish a stay here on my worst enemy. Food was inedible, nurse techs were on their phones 24/7, "treatment" was non-existant and they WILL extend your stay if you don't play their game. I was on a 72 hour baker act and felt fine and ready to go on my 3rd day there. I was told countless times I would be "getting out tomorrow" but I was held for 8 days due to a detox I didn't ask for. Now I'm without any medication for my anxiety and the only medication they gave me puts me to sleep. This place will not help you, they only want your money.

My son was recently admitted here. I am so very impressed about the experience my son had here. I was called a couple of times during his stay. It was always a very caring conversation. My son said to me many times that this place was very wonderful in every aspect, and that the experience helped him tremendously. He also said that he ate very well! Food was very good! I just want to give great accolades for the care that you all deserve so well for my son. Tyler was so wonderful within his communications and concerns with me! Very professional and caring!

You know, I never could say that I witnessed someone almost die in a Baker Act but North Tampa, You changed that for me so congrats! This place is not the place to go to get help. I was here for 5 days and it was by far the longest 5 days I have ever lived. Staff members found whole and crushed up pills in the seats and there was a patient who made a shank out of a toothbrush. Shout out to Maxi for leading groups that had useful coping skills and information.

I have attended both the PHP and IOP programs at this clinic and with this being my first experience at a behavioral health clinic I was blown away by how supportive and caring the staff were. From the receptionists and the staff that handled my assesment to the therapists and nurse in the php and iop program to the doctors and psychiatrist, everyone i have come into contact with in this clinic has blown me away with how concerned and caring they are. I feel heard when I speak about my problems, feel pushed to use coping methods to better myself, feel like the doctor listens when i explain what medicines I have tried and do not work. Going through the PHP and IOP programs have made huge impacts in my life and mental health and how i view my self worth and thl the circumstances of coming were not great i feel so much better about myself towards the end of my program. I would recommend this place to any friend who felt they were going through a rough patch in their life and needed the help!

How incompetent can the people in this facility be. They allowed a person with special needs to sign themselves out of their facility and put her in a cab. What if there wasn't anyone home? No communication with her power of attorney. Changed her meds without consent or explanation. Do not let your loved ones go there. They do not communicate with those on the outside. For a week, no one would tell us about our loved one, their actual response was to say... "If she is actually here"

Best hospital to treat people with depression issues. Great hard working staff, group treatment, excellent doctors 7 days a week. Monitoring 24/7. Delicious meals and snacks. Even movies to watch and be relaxed. Thank you to Dr. J. Patel who changed my medications and I was able to finally sleep.

I’m horrified that this place is still standing. I was here in 2019 and it was the worst experience. The techs were cruel and on a power trip. I injured my ankle when I first got there and they refused me a wheel chair or any kind of medical attention despite many attempts to ask for it. I was walking around limping and in excruciating pain. When I got home I found out that it was badly sprained and I was in a walking boot for six weeks. The food here in not edible. The facility is not clean. The grounds look like a prison. And someone exposed themselves to me while I was there. They also kept me there much longer than necessary. Do not go here if you can avoid it!

I was on Unit B for 6 days- very well looked after, dr/social worker/medical checks every day. If there was a problem, a solution was quickly found. My only complaint was a lack of books available to read (otherwise you’re stuck coloring or watching tv). I believe the books were removed due to Covid, but even a Lysol spray would have been helpful to keep me from watching football for hours every day. Very helpful, caring staff, lovely group meetings and therapies including meditation, yoga, and music therapy.

The staff at North Tampa Behavioral Health are extremely helpful. Right from the start everything went smoothly. Everyone was immensely patient with me and took the time to explain the process to me. My intake staff (Daphne) was amazing, she helped me come to terms that I would be best served as a patient of the inpatient program. I was not happy about that. I had read the reviews online which were not very favorable. I decided to voluntarily check myself into the inpatient program and try to get the most out of it despite all the negative reviews. I stayed in the inpatient program for a little over a week for Depression, PTSD, Anxiety, Sleep Disturbance, childhood traumas, and Grief. The inpatient program was just what I needed to jumpstart my Healing Journey. I had never participated in any type group therapy and I was extremely worried that I would be ashamed of my past traumas. I did not want people to look at me in judgement. I felt that I would not be able to unpack my past and leave the broken pieces there. I was so comfortable speaking about my past traumas. I had finally found a space that was safe to talk about my past freely without hesitation or fear (life changer). They have created a safe judgement free zone dedicated to helping their clients heal from the bondage of their past. I had positive experiences in the Inpatient Program, Partial Hospitalization Program, as well as the Intensive Outpatient Program which I am currently still enrolled. The group sessions were great; I learned quickly you only get out of the program what you are willing to put into the program. Mental Health is a medical condition which can be managed by following your doctor's orders. Taking your medications as prescribed, eating well-balanced healthy meal, getting enough sleep, and full participation in group. If you are willing to be transparent and open to positive feedback, you will have great success in any of the programs offered. Nurse Kim always greets me with a smile and positive energy when I enter the building. Mrs. Chimeka was my first Therapist; I pray that she is doing well. Dr. Aziz is adept and easy to talk with. Nick and Rachel are interns I worked, much success in their careers. Mrs. Valerie and Mrs. Stephanie are amazing therapist I had the pleasure of working with. They help me find the best ways to process my childhood traumas and mental health issues. The therapist along with the group provided me with information that will be used in any future stressful situations. Relationships, school, work and social events. I have learned priceless coping skills that will help me keep one step ahead of my anger. I have learned what my triggers are and how to stop allowing them to interfere with my life. The most important coping skill that I learned is actually free. Take a deep breath and exhale it slowly. This gives your brain the opportunity to think about how to respond in a positive way. The customer service, professionalism and overall experience with everyone I encountered has been a positive experience. Clients' healing and understanding of their mental health diagnosis, triggers and how to manage them in a positive way is the heart of all those who work at this facility. I proudly recommend to anyone who is struggling with Mental Health issues or addictions. The focus or main objective in the group therapy environment is understanding that you are not alone. We all have different reasons for seeking help. Working with the group allows you to see that we are all stronger together. Let’s stop the stigma around mental health and start the conversation by seeking the help you need. You are not weak, defected, or inadequate when you have a mental health diagnosis. Allowing yourself to come to terms with your mental health illness and making the decision to seek help is the hardest part of your healing. Taking the steps to learn how to cope with your triggers and manage your mental health makes you zealous, empowered, and fearless. 06/01/2023

My stay there was wonderful. The staff there seemed to really care. The food was wonderful. The classes were helpful and I learned a lot. My only complaint is when they discharged me they sent me to a shelter that had no beds for me causing me to be homeless in a city I am unfamiliar with.

From a person/child who went there I do not recommend sending someone you love there. After the first couple days it's was fine but the last 4 ish days I was losing it. I witnessed so many things that are wrong with this place. Patients who had substance abuse problems being offered drugs that mimicked the effects of street drugs they are addicted to. The only reason why they were offered this drug was because it would also automatically invoke a longer involuntary stay. Completely immoral way of keeping patients there, especially ones who deal with substance issues and can’t help but accept the drugs in order cease their cravings even at the cost of involuntarily staying longer like the facility wants. The worst part is the patients are not even warned that if you take this drug you will be forced to stay involuntarily longer, it is only the other patients who warn you. If you come with stitches in a sensitive place of course you don’t want scarring to occur. The doctor who put them should be the one to take them out, in order to limit the potential of scarring and keep the number of parties responsible for possible scarring low. The facility will fight tooth and nail to have your stitches taken out by them not the doctor who put them in, even if the doctor who put them in requests they be the one to take them out. Complete disregard to the issue of scarring that could result from the taking out of stitches in a sensitive area. I also witnessed patients escape, once out of the elevator at the bottom floor they run out the doors to their left and are free. The only thing keeping people from doing this is having their possessions confiscated at the front desk. They will tell you that you can put in a 24 hour notice to leave whenever, then when you do they scare you by telling you that if you put in the notice too early from what they have planned/scheduled you to stay and it’s denied you are stuck there longer than you are scheduled. For example if they schedule there for a week, and you put in a notice 24 notice to go free and it’s denied you could stay longer than the week you were previously scheduled. They will intimidate patients not to put in a 24 hour advance for freedom. Then when you put in the notice after waiting some time like they want they will tell you there is no doctor to see you for another 3 days. They will do anything to keep you there as long as possible.

How do you give this place negative 10 stars? Our child was admitted here for a few short days under Dr Walid Aziz care. He was deemed safe to return home after a short weekend stay and no family involvement in that decision. All we got was a surprise call that our son was being discharged and to come get him. Danielle, our case manager there said that this was the doctors opinion and she agreed with it and she had way too much to do to deal with our concerns. So now I have a kid coming home that won't be safe at home and neither will we. We were told to call our insurance company and request a case manager. We were also scheduled with follow up telehealth counseling. I wouldn't go here period. And I will hold this hospital laibalr for any harm that comes to my son or our family. We are also filing complaints with our insurance carrier and the state of Florida. This is not the place to be trusted.

The staff are nice people but your facility could be cleaner.
