NYU Winthrop West Babylon Family Medicine Associates

Medical clinic Doctor Family practice physician

😠 Called on a Wednesday not feeling good at all. Was told there was no available appointments until Friday. So I went to an urgent care center nearby where I tested positive for the flu. Told the lady that answers the phone that it’s a damn shame you can’t see your primary physician when you’re sick.... It just isn't the same anymore since being a patient. The staff was always friendly and very accommodating, but now so rude. Isn't when you go to the doctor you want to be in a positive a environment to avoid stress. This is not like that anymore. The only reason I am a patient still is for one doctor which is worth the wait and that is Dr. Corsello. I wish that google allows 1/2 stars UPDATE: I like to believe things changed but no even worse. The front desk have attitude and unhelpful in person and over the phone. I am aware there is so much going on and the stress they are under I respect yet it doesn’t make it right being as such. As long as I see my doctor that is what matters most.

My wife and I have been a patient here for several years and once NYU Winthrop merged this practice is nothing as it used to be. The telecom agents are not knowledgeable about insurance and refused to make appt as a result because they were unaware of how to verify eligibility. My wife once drove to the office personally because she was in pain and unable to make appt. According to Donna the office manager said this is not a walk-in clinic and regardless of the amount of pain a patient is having they will not see you until next available. I even mentioned changing physicians because of how dissatisfied I was with my care and she had no remorse, was not understanding or even apologetic. If you don’t pay copay in full, they will not see you and are turned away. If you are late, they turn you away. I work in the medical field and will say this is extremely poor patient service. They do not value you as a patient. A “happy” patient will tell three to five others; an unhappy patient tells ten. Clearly customer service is not a priority. This practice is does NOT work to serve and keep patients happy. Does NOT give more than expected and is NOT flexible. The intent and goal of all medical professionals should be to do the “right thing” for the patient. This should serve as a guide to all patient treatment. Something they clearly lack and should learn to adapt to.

I am so sad to see the nosedive in service that West Babylon Family Medicine provides since NYU Langone bought the practice. It took me two phone calls and 40 minutes to get an appointment. The people I spoke to were not at West Babylon Family Medicine. They both tried to send me to other practices, even though I've been going to West Babylon Family Medicine for a decade. They both took the same information over and over again and when I was finally offered an appointment it was for a date two weeks from now. Thank you, no thank you; I could be dead by then. It's CityMD for me. Then I'll look for a new internist. This is a perfect example of big medicine turning a once effective and friendly private practice into an ineffective, impersonal bureaucratic nightmare. This is a new low for me in my healthcare experience.

I’ve been using this office for many years. Since the practice was sold in the last couple of years, while many of the same practitioners are still there, there has been a marked change in the services of the most important person a business has: the customer. The billing is no longer handled there. Many times, even though this is my primary, we get billed as if they are a specialist. I go into the office and I’m told call the billing department. I call the person I’ve never seen, and they tell me that’s how they have me set up. I go back to the office and they take a copy of my bill. They say to disregard. I go to the doctor again or my wife goes and the same thing happens. Nothing changes. Before Dr. M. sold the practice, bloodwork was usually sent to Quest Labs or another, in network provider. I’d get a bill that I’d have a responsibility to pay what my healthcare plan didn’t pay for. My bill would usually range anywhere from 2-3 dollars to anything under $10. So, recently my wife & I had bloodwork done. Since the “change” in management, they now send these tests to Sunrise Labs, which is ALSO an affiliate of Family Medical Associates. I now get bills from Sunrise Labs for $36 & $90 plus. These charges are MORE than my primary copay! I’ve NEVER been billed like this. It makes me, a customer, wonder...So, I go to the office with these bills and I’m told they’d resubmit with a different procedure code. Mmmm, I’m really wondering....? Why do I have all this aggravation with this office? Don’t ask for an office manager to return a phone call. You could wait till hell freezes over for that to occur. Oh, and in this day and age 2019, a representative tells me they left a voicemail. Very interesting in this era of caller ID & voicemail, this rep lied to me. Now, I go to the office due to persistent pain. They give me a script for an X-ray at Zwanger. I get it done on a Monday right after my appointment. I call the office on Tuesday to get results. Now, I know the report is ready cause I get notification from the Zwanger patient portal it’s ready. I’m NOT a doctor. But I have an idea what I may be dealing with from my past history. I’m told I have to wait for the PA, who’s off to look at the report and he’d get back to me. The report was available the next day. So, I’m hurting and I need to wait for service? There’s no one else there. My wife had an appointment the next day. I’m kinda not feeling so good so I asked for that PA to call me with information. Did I get any call? No. I ask for a note for my employer as I have in the past to limit my work schedule. In the past, no problem as I have numerous nagging ailments. I’m told no problem. I stop in a week later after dropping a script for physical therapy next door wondering where my note was. I’m told by the reps they were “just talking about me.” They tell me that I had to wait for the PA who saw me the previous Monday 9 days earlier to complete it. He’s not gonna be in until “next week.” At this point my frustration is boiling over. I say to the 2 at the desk that my job doesn’t stop when I’m not there. I told them I was told Dr. C would complete my requested note. That never happens. I get a call and they tell me I had to get a note from the “pain management” doctor or orthopedist! Really? Ask for a call back to confirm medicines have been ordered? What do you think? In this era of managed care and all, Family Medical Associates of Babylon is NOT the place to go anymore unless you want your blood pressure to rise! It’s really a shame cause we used to like the office staff. They used to be sooo accommodating. Now, they’re unprofessional and condescending. Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY! They’re too big....

After reading all of the dreadful reviews, I was leery about becoming a patient at NYU Winthrop West Babylon Family Medicine Associates. My appointment went off without a hitch and far exceeded my expectations. The staff members were friendly and helpful. I didn’t have to wait long at all—no more than five minutes, in fact. My appointment was with Dr. Saad and she was caring, competent, patient and wonderful. I had an absolutely pleasant experience and am very happy that I didn’t not let the negative reviews discourage me from trying this office. Should things change down the line, I will update this review accordingly. However, I feel 100% confident that I will be happy here. Try for yourself!

A center located in the community should be professional, caring and warm and focused on patient care and experience Their front desk staff gives a vibe that they hate their jobs and don’t want to be bother Medical care needs to change this narrative Going to the Dr is already a cause for anxiety so when going into an office Patients should be greeted with a sense of welcoming warmth Not by people who are counting down the hours until they are off This center should mimic the care and the staff at NYU bethpage Shame on the office management for not recognizing the tone set forth by your front desk staff

I've been a patient of Dr .Muscara for almost 30 years, and this was his practice. The office has changed, true, since the Langone buyout, but Dr. Muscara still runs the show, and to me, the staff is fine. My appointments were normal, and pretty seem less. If it does go over, maybe 10 minutes. But hey, it's a doctors office, can't plan to the minute....anyway, I have never had an issue.

My husband saw Dr Laura Corsella on short notice. She was wonderful. She took the time to listen and made us feel completely at ease. She was thorough and knowledgeable. We will be scheduling with her again.

Staff never called with my test results despite my 3 calls to the office . Almost a month later and I’m left to interpret my own tests online

Since the NYU Winthrop takeover, this office has been absolutely awful. Rude clueless staff, one hour or longer waits in the waiting room for scheduled appointments, constant problems getting common rx refills. I don't know how much they paid Dr Muscara to destroy his practice, but I hope it was worth it.
