Early tee time as a walk-in, 7:50a, they save the first 100 tee times for walk-ins. Black was in pristine condition for late April. Was great to play on a major track. Staff was friendly and the round was great.

Bethpage Black stands out as one of the most incredible courses I've had the pleasure of playing. With its considerable length and narrow fairways, accuracy off the tee is paramount; stray shots result in penalty strokes, making each hole a strategic challenge. What truly struck me was the pristine condition of the course. Despite its high level of play and demand for precision, the fairways were meticulously maintained, and the greens were impeccable. The groundskeepers deserve commendation for their dedication to maintaining such a superb golfing environment. Surprisingly, even with the course's formidable difficulty, the pace of play was impressively managed. This allowed us to fully appreciate the challenges and beauty of the course without feeling rushed. Playing Bethpage Black was an absolute privilege and a golfing dream come true. It's a testament to the sport and a must-play for enthusiasts seeking an exceptional golfing experience.

Best $70 I’ve ever spent. Don’t bother trying to book online… you gotta walk-up. There are a bunch of open times they hold for locals. Just bring a laptop, work remote in the morning, while you wait for your random time slot to play Black. That’s my tip

The Black was my home course for 15 years from the early 70s to the mid 80s and is (and was then) a great golf course. I've played the golf course over 300 times and, of course, know it very well. I played it this week for the 1st time in about 20 years and was struck by how much more difficult the course plays now than back then because the fairways have been narrowed and the rough is so thick it's almost impossible to get a ball out of it unless you use a short iron. The White tees, at 6700 yards, are easily the equivalent (in terms of difficulty) as the Blue tees at virtually every other golf course in the world; my recommendation, if you want to have some fun, is play the Orange tees (about 6200 yards), it's still plenty of golf course and gives you the opportunity to hit iron shots to lots of greens. For the record, I am 75 years old with an 8.0 GHIN index and have played many of the world's great golf courses so have a strong base of experience to make this recommendation.

Challenging course, beautiful landscaping and rich history make this golf course a must visit. From the warning sign to the view of the clubhouse from the 18th tee box every part of this round was memorable. This course is a must play if you consider yourself a golfer and find yourself on Long Island.

Grew up here. You can't imagine how great this place is. For those who stood on line, I salute you...was right there many mornings. For those who like the history, the original 18th green was on the hill above today's green. Was a tougher hole than 15. Shot 130 , 07/1975....white tees. 9/1981... shot 67..37-30 blue tees. A dream. .... Walk only....enjoy

A true test of one’s abilities. Very hard to get into if your not a NY. resident. Course was in great shape, thick rough that is very penal if you can’t hit the fairways. Greens are pure. They have a really good breakfast, eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast. With coffee and juice only for 13-14 bucks a person. Well worth eating breakfast their. Driving range is subpar, no drivers allowed. Will definitely come back and try to beat my score.

Hard course, but you know that. Greens were softer than advertised, but each shot demands attention. The rough is lush and difficult because the ball doesn't go all the way to the ground and is often half an inch or more from the ground. This makes hitting recovery shots demanding and it is easy to hit the ball off the top of the face, leaving it short, regularly. Still highly recommend the track. The routing is great and you should appreciate the challenge.

Was here for the 2019 PGA Championship. I would say that this course I would love to play. Next time I am in the area I am going to try and play this. The greens looked like they were in perfect shape. You could eat off the fairways they were cut so perfectly. Reminds me of the courses I played in state championships. Walking the course wasn’t to bad. Yes it can be a little hilly on some holes but really wasn’t that bad. The facilities were amazing. I really enjoyed everything about this course and the PGA tour event that was held that day. Was an amazing experience.

This course is as always in pristine shape, rough and fescue is short but healthy to start the season but in about 6 weeks it'll be just what we know it to be and thats THICK!!! Its rightfully so "the people's country club" if incould ay it everyday i would. Take a caddie if you want to enjoy the PRO walk feel, carrying is fine just lighten your bag but under no circumstances take a pull cart, the walk with a pull cart is is way tougher then carrying!!! the walk will be great just make make sure you enjoy the day and the course!!!

Lives up to the reputation. Have been lucky enough to play many of the worlds greatest golf courses and think this holds its own against the best in the game. Be warned however, the walk may be as difficult as the golf course itself. Conditions are always perfect. One tip, play less break than you think you need. The greens are really flat.

Update 5/11/22 Played today, walked on for a 9:50 tee time. Waited only on a couple holes and never saw the group behind us. Greens are immaculate. Bunkers are a total mess looked like the greens crew didn't rake in the morning or all the morning groups just said f it we're not taking today. Other than the bunkers, the Black did not fail to dominate me yet again.

It couldn't possibly be better for public golfers! An amazing grouping of five different course. Have to say that if you are not up to a really really tough golf course do NOT play the Black. It is hard! For a great test try the Red.

The course is extremely brutal to say the least. It was quite an experience, not for the faint of heart. Don’t take a pull/push cart, it is hell when you have to climb up the hills to get to the greens or even most tee boxes. No riding carts allowed, there isn’t even room for a cart path.

The most beautiful 18 holes you can walk in the country for the price. Can’t recommend enough and can’t wait to return. Staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming as well. 11/10 experience

The staff was great, inside was incredibly busy, and we were relocated to the outdoor seating, at our request... Much better. Appetizers were great, so was dinner. Drinks were meh.. No rush to hurry, parking on the street after 8pm, apparently a no-no..

Played there for the 4th time last week and it just reminded me that this is clearly one of the best golf courses in the world. Perfect conditioning, especially for a public course. Tough walk and takes a while to play, but it’s worth it

I have played this course once a year for the last 7 years in early November. When I played there yesterday I was surprised that the conditions were not up to their usual high standards. It is a given that the range at the facility is not the best, but yesterday they ran out of golf balls and a group of about 15-20 people had to stand around for about 20 minutes to wait for the balls to be brought up from the range. Luckily I was there early enough that I had time to wait. The course needed a little TLC. Typically I see multiple groups of workers tending to the course. Yesterday I saw one guy mowing on #4. The traps looked like they hadn't been raked in days and the greens had multiple ball marks that needed fixing. I know this course on a bad day is far better than most courses on a good day but for the 2hr drive and the money I payed I expected what I had experienced in the past.

This might be my favorite course i've played. if i lived around here i'd only play here. Good price, well worth it from the back tees. don't bother with the range though the balls are the worst i've ever seen, cracked/waterlogged it's a total joke. Was easy to walk on as a single, very hard to to book a time online. Also the food inside was quick and good.

This is a very long golf course and on such a huge area of land Id expect it to be more imaginative. I played of 16 here and bogeyed most of the holes, however be prepared for long approaches even after 240m drives - I enjoyed it very much. Rough is brutal. Greens are hands down the best Ive ever seen in my life, fast as f, but also very hard. Pro shop service or restaurant stands out in negative sense. E.g. I was by accident charged for a ball sleeve, guy couldnt revert it and only returned part of the money which I figured out later - no apologies from him neither. Also prices for foreigners are significantly greater which is just not fair. If you do not carry it 200m, you might have trouble reaching fairway but still its worth it to have a sense of what pros are dealing with. Just drop the ball and carry on. I rented clubs for 60bucks - they were great. Also! Take into consideration that they sell tee times online at hours where there is not a slightest chance to play whole 18, yet you can not play just 9.

Championship level course really only for the low handicap player but not restricted to anyone so it's a must play for any serious golfer and fan. As gorgeous live as in any pictures you may come across online.

Great golf at incredible prices, hard to get tee times but if you book a late afternoon time, get there early and you have a great chance at getting out sooner.

Beautiful and huge golf course tucked away in Long Island. Not too far from NYC so folks from there can also enjoy. Plenty of parking which can be found at the parking lot. Trying to book time can be a challenge with their online booking system.

Tough track. As it should be for a IS Open venue.. Great public golf course. Long, hilly, many deep, difficult sand traps, juicy rough. Every hole is a challenge. Doubly difficult when it's cold and the wind blows. Bring your A+++ game.

Went for the PGA Championship. Nice grounds with great service. After walking the course as a spectator I’ll try one of the other courses before hitting the Black. Very hilly and long. The rough is pretty high but lots of room between holes so it doesn’t look like too much trouble with an errant T-shot.

👍👍 Great place.. my six-year-old loves it. He loves anything to do with the military. You can see old school tanks up front and vehicles that are still working and operating it's pretty cool. Plus there's plenty of retired vets there to give you the information and history on some of the vehicles .What...
