8
months
after
first
visit
and
5-star
review,
I
must
update
to
1
star.
A
doctor
here
diagnosed
my
cat
with
hypertrophic
cardiomyopathy,
a
progressive
and
incurable
heart
disease
that
has
a
prognosis
of
two
years
once
symptoms
develop.
The
goal
was
to
monitor
closely
and
hope
he
never
developed
symptoms.
She
put
him
on
two
heart
medications,
a
blood
thinner
and
one
for
blood
pressure.
I
trusted
this
diagnosis
because
they
performed
several
tests
and
got
images
of
his
heart.
I
was
told
to
bring
him
back
in
three
months
for
a
follow
up.
Three-month
follow
up,
the
doctor
no
longer
worked
there
so
my
cat
saw
someone
else.
This
second
doctor
never
came
to
speak
with
me
and
did
not
give
me
any
information
after
the
visit.
I
only
saw
front-desk
clerical
workers.
I
called
several
times
to
request
a
post-visit
evaluation
and
was
told
I
would
get
an
email.
I
finally
got
a
call
one
month
later,
and
the
doctor
sounded
very
unsure
of
anything.
She
told
me
that
my
cat's
blood
pressure
was
a
bit
elevated,
so
I
needed
to
double
his
blood
pressure
medication
and
then
bring
him
back
in
a
few
more
months.
I
doubled
the
medication,
but
I
then
found
a
veterinary
cardiologist
to
take
him
to
at
MedVet
SLC.
She
performed
all
the
same
diagnostics
and
imaging,
and
then
she
told
me
that
HIS
HEART
IS
HEALTHY,
DOES
NOT
HAVE
HEART
DISEASE.
The
Animal
Care
Center
doctor
had
told
me
this
was
not
a
disease
that
could
be
cured
or
get
better,
and
the
cardiologist
confirmed
that.
This
means
he
was
misdiagnosed.
I
immediately
asked
if
the
medications
he
had
been
on
have
been
harmful
since
he
doesn't
need
them;
thankfully,
she
said
no.
He
could
stop
the
blood
thinner
immediately,
but
we
had
to
ween
him
off
the
blood
pressure
medication.
I
asked
HOW
could
they
have
MISDIAGNOSED
something
so
crucial,
especially
with
all
the
tests
and
imaging
they
did
(that
are
not
cheap).
The
cardiologist
was
very
diplomatic
and
said
that
sometimes
general
practitioners
can
miss
things
or
might
not
be
able
to
see
what
a
specialist
can
see.
She
also
said
that
a
lot
of
veterinary
offices
use
imaging
services
that
are
not
done
by
specialists.
At
MedVet,
the
cardiologist
herself
did
the
imaging.
She
said
the
heart
can
be
tricky
and
the
imaging
often
is
very
angle-specific,
and
a
specialist
knows
how
to
get
the
imaging
just
right.
I
will
never
go
back
to
Animal
Care
Center.
Rather
than
misdiagnose
your
pet
and
put
them
on
medications
he/she
doesn't
need,
they
should
say,
"We
think
he
might
have
a
heart
condition,
but
you
should
take
him
to
a
cardiologist."
Thankfully,
in
this
case,
the
unnecessary
medication
did
not
harm
him,
but
what
about
other
types
of
mistakes
on
other
pets??
Not
to
mention
the
fear
and
sadness
and
stress
I
experienced
worrying
about
my
cat
having
a
heart
condition
that
would
likely
cause
an
early
death!
Also,
having
a
new
doctor
do
the
follow-up
who
then
never
spoke
with
me
or
gave
my
any
information
about
the
follow-up
visit
until
after
many
phone
calls
requesting
it.
And
then
it
was
just
a
phone
call
telling
me
to
double
his
unnecessary
medication.
Unacceptable!
I
guess
this
place
is
fine
for
just
regular
visits
and
the
basic
issues
pets
experience,
but
if
your
pet
has
anything
serious,
please
seek
out
a
veterinarian
with
more
education,
training
and
expertise!
We
do
it
for
ourselves
and
our
human
family,
so
why
not
for
our
furry
children??
