Super cute diner on sunset strip — and a parking lot! The waiter was super nice and friendly and the atmosphere and ambience was wonderful on an early Saturday evening. The food portions are big. I got the sunset burger and fries and my sister got the Mel famous burger and sweet potatoe fries and they were both so good. Honestly probably the best burger I’ve ever had - it was juicy and everything was so fresh. The beef patty was grilled well done for me and it was such a satisfying meal. Their milkshakes are also really really good. Highly recommend The Oreo milkshake! There’s ample seating indoor and some outdoor and the interior is all decked out like the 80s, each booth has a juke box and it’s super cute. Recommend coming here if you’re search for some comfort food!! The menu is also massive and 24 hours so lots of options. It is however on the pricier end.

I love the history of this establishment. I visited 11pm. The staff was so friendly. The food was great and the ambiance brought a smile to my face. It took me back in time.

Be sure to have a big appetite, breakfast, lunch or dinner. There are so many yummy menu choices, and the milkshakes are awesome! love the old diner, feel and look, add the amazing staff, and you have a winner. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Awesome low key breakfast/lunch shack located in the busy and fancy downtown area. The inside looks straight out of a movie from the 60's. Service was a great and prices were fair. I went with chicken and waffles. Chicken was surprisingly crispy and the waffle was made with eggs and bacon inside of it which was very unique. We took a chocolate milkshake to go. Check this place out for a lunch in the unique Beverly hills area. Cheers

This was my first time here. I’m not from California. The place had that great old fashion vibe. Totally enjoyed it. The burgers were awesome!

The best late night food and super fast service. We love going here after a night out. The food is great and always on point. I love the spicy chicken sandwich. Also the Lana Del Ray shake is next level you must try it. The staff is always sweet and accommodating especially with all the drunks coming in at that hour. They also have easy parking so it's win win.

Mel's Diner in Hollywood strikes the perfect balance between nostalgia and contemporary dining. The atmosphere is cozy, the staff is friendly, and the menu offers a fantastic mix of classic and modern dishes. From mouthwatering burgers to tempting vegan options, Mel's is a must-visit spot in Hollywood's food scene.

Great diner with mid-century decor. The food lives up to the atmosphere too. There are counter stools, tables, booths, and outdoor seating, but ironically no drive-thru (it's a drive IN). Friendy, helpful staff. A really fun place for a meal.

If you like oldies music and diner fair, this is the most reasonably priced option on Sunset that I've found so far. My French dip was tasty if a little small. The fries were hot and crispy and the ranch was top five I've had in LA. Plenty of parking was available, which is always a bonus. Come enjoy the kitsch.

A staple for over 25-30 years maybe even longer for me. I have been coming here since i was a kid and now enjoy it as an adult as a go to late night spot. No better place then to go with friends after a night out and get some of the classics. I’ve enjoyed a bunch of things on this menu. the pictures i posted were just My BLT and my strawberry shake, which is just great i have nothing bad to say. The shakes are a must try, my friend likes the Oreo one more but we all know strawberry is the king 👑. The tuna melt is great and the chicken tenders are always a staple item. Overall a must go if your in Weho , it’s that classic american diner energy. who doesn’t love a diner!

The best Mel's to be at. The smash burgers are so good! All the other food was good too. Fun little music boxes at the booths to play a song on the speakers for the restaurant

Super cute place. We went at night. Was seated immediately. We all got breakfast which was great. The biscuits and gravy is a little different then the Midwest. The place was super cute decorated the jukebox was amazing on the tables. Service was okay straight forward. The workers were loud but i think they were exchanging gifts as it was almost Christmas. Overall it was a good time

We enjoyed Mel’s Drive in when we visited LA in 2019. We enjoyed lunch but this time we went to a different location and just ordered snacks; cookies n’ cream milk shake; strawberry milk shake and root beer float. All three were delicious and will always visit Mel’s Diner because we totally like the drive-in oldies vibe. We were bummed that our jukebox didn’t work. The restaurant was playing great music.

Great diner to go to if you want some food at all hours of the day. We came here for some late night eats and the service was extremely fast. We ordered some apps including mozzarella sticks, bacon ranch cheese fries and chicken nuggets. I wasn’t a fan of the mozzarella sticks but you have to order the bacon ranch cheese fries! The milkshakes here are also very delicious. For kids the nuggets come in a cute little car which fits perfectly with the theme. Can’t wait to come back for breakfast here!

Diners are usually tough to review. Can you really mess up breakfast? Unfortunately, yes it is possible. Lol However, Mel's definitely brings the classic diner vibes. The kind of place you stop in between a long road trip and get greeted by someone kind and ready to provide great service. I really appreciated that. I got the waffle breakfast with two eggs and pork sausage. I also had a side of potatoes. The waffles came split in four pieces, I really liked the crispiness of the edges and the slightly sweet batter. The pork sausage was a nice size and had a nice cook on it (see photo). I was also pleasantly surprised with the potatoes, they were seasoned to perfection! The eggs were standard, I just added some pepper and voila! Overall I had a pleasurable experience. The waitress was very nice and gave me a coffee to go. If you're looking for a good old fashioned diner, go ahead and give Mel's a try!

Probably my favorite place to eat in LA. My girlfriend brought me here on Sunset boulevard and it was great. Amazing atmosphere, and nice typical authentic vibes of a real of fashion diner. It’s super popular and if you are lucky you can find also celebrities inside, not my case unfortunately! Food is delicious but my favorite thing was the strawberry milkshake! It’s great also because they do the milkshake and they bring you also the leftover without wasting it, so you have almost 2 milkshakes. Totally recommended if you are in LA and you want to try an authentic experience!

Love the location and the food. Been there twice. Both times the service could have been a lot better.

Went to California to celebrate my sister's wedding. While there our family went to Mel's Dinner TWICE for breakfast. Both times the breakfast was delicious. We got omelets and potatoes, pancakes, waffles and more. We didn't even realize they had multiple locations. The vibe is old school drive-in diner with valet parking, pictures of celebs on the wall and great staff working there. Loved this place.

We went to Mel’s Diner as tourist, just craving a good burger – but weren’t too sure it would deliver. It was one of the best Impossible burgers I have had, and the burger had alfalfa sprouts and so much flavor in the bread. It was really a delicious meal in a fun ambience if you are looking for a bit of nostalgia in LA. We did manage to get parking and were able to get in and out of the restaurant within an hour. I would highly recommend this place for a quick lunch or breakfast! The wait staff could use some work as they don’t really have great personalities, but I came for the food.

Great people watching spot on Santa Monica Blvd. Got the classic Mel burger 🍔 gluten free style. Don’t expect anything out of the ordinary; they just lay the gf bread onto the patty without mayo. Nothing special. The fries are good!

I love this place because it’s a classic! Reminds me when I was a kid. Still have all American menu that taste great and a hefty portion. I love the juke box to play oldies and great music.

Exactly what you hope for with a great diner. Service was great. Hands down the best corned beef hash I've ever had, so far beyond expectations it ruined it for me anywhere else.

Perfect place for fifties diner vibe with exactly the kind of breakfast you’d expect for a venue like this. Scrambled eggs, pancakes, biscuits and gravy and hash browns were all just right. The bottomless cup of coffee was classic as it should be. Service was friendly and prompt.

11/21/23: To avoid crowds and higher prices, we celebrated Thanksgiving on the Tuesday prior. I ordered their homemade turkey dinner that came with three slices of thick off-the-bone turkey, gravy and cranberry sauce, over dressing with a side of lumpy mash potatoes, buttered veggies and a dinner roll for $24. There was so much food that I had to leave with a doggie bag. Needless to say, there was no room for pumpkin pie. Food was very ample, well seasoned and delicious. Decor and music was 60's flashback. Varied menu and definitely recommended.

Nice spot, they had a parking lot which is rare for this part of LA. The smashburger was really good and the fries were nice and crispy. The only complaint is that they used shredded lettuce on the burger which made it messier than it should have been. The lemonade wasn’t my favorite but not terrible. My girlfriend seemed to really enjoy her arnold palmer however. Our server Janet was nice and did a great job at splitting the bill per our request. Not busy at all on a Monday around 3 PM. They have lots of cool memorabilia around and celebrity pictures. Clean bathrooms. They also have some outdoor seating but it was far too hot out there for that when we went.

Restaurant with a different vibe. Close to the Hollywood walk of fame in the middle of sunset boulevard. Unlimited coffee served. We ordered the avocado sandwich and the rise and shine sandwich. The rise and shine sandwich was pretty delicious compared to the avocado sandwich.

Great milkshake on Sat night! Ironically the place was not crowded but the service is slow! The traditional shake is served with all the mix which is easy to split for 2 people.

Huge portions. We shared each meal. Excellent service. If you liked Happy days you will love here. Working juke boxes in the booths. Open 24hrs. Recommend the ribs and the egg avocado. Mel’s burger good too:)r

All-time Hollywood classic diner. Possibly the best known restaurant in all of California. Great throwback Americana food and style. So much fun!

I have been eating at Mel’s for many years, both in Los Angeles, and when I lived in San Francisco. In terms of the classic American diner, it’s always a solid option. Personally I don’t prefer it for breakfast, but it’s a great option for lunch or dinner. Usually I get the tuna melt, but I have tried many other dishes here as well. This location can get quite busy and parking can be tougher than other parts of town, although it’s a really fun environment to have a meal. There were two very well-known celebrities in the restaurant at the same time as us for a early Sunday dinner. Every booth was taken and our meal was very good. This time I got my traditional tuna melt with avocado, as well as a butterscotch milkshake, and really devoured both of them. I would recommend to anyone who is a fan of the traditional American diner, or is looking for a quick casual meal. It is a bit more expensive another diners, but it’s also a lot better than other places like Norms.

Good burgers, coleslaw, and sweet potato fries. The milk shake was too thin and melted fast. The regular fries were fried extra long making them hard. The garden salad was not the freshest... The lettuce was turning brown, the carrot slides were drying out. The chocolate cake and ice cream was very good. Good place to stop in for breakfast or lunch and to get some fun pictures with a jukebox. Valet parking is available
