The apartment is comfortable but it lacks light and space. It's old and several of the staff members are really rude. Absurd charges and fines. Impossible to talk to them and reach an agreement. If you want a comfortable place to live, go to Campus Edge, Rise or Hub, there amenities are much better. Good location, poor customer service. The elevator is a mess, every month there is a problem with the elevator and you need to wait about a week for them to fix it. The wifi does not work in every location of the building. For the amount you pay you can go to another better place.

DO NOT LIVE HERE. I lived here for my second year of undergrad at Purdue University and it was the worst living experience I have ever had. The walls were paper thin, and I could hear absolutely everything happening on my floor as well as outside in the alleyway. The internet access was also unreliable, and maintenance was very slow to come fix any issues even when they were critical, such as our sinkā€™s garbage disposal. The elevators were also very unreliable. They also charged me rent for June AFTER charging me a $250 sublease fee, AS WELL AS a $55 late fee because I was under the impression I did not have to pay June or July rent. They were very unclear about this, and used shady business practices to lure in my roommates and me by claiming they did not have any open phase 1 apartments and showing us a much nicer phase 2 apartment instead. I suggest you avoid this community at all costs if you can help it.

The housing options in West Lafayette overall are not great. No need to make it worse by attempting to live at Chauncey. The only positives are that itā€™s close to campus and itā€™s furnished. Unfortunately, they completely negate the aspect of furnishing with their pricing. There are steep price increases from year to year and the quality of the furniture - and building in general - are arguably laughable. There are minimal amenities (rundown equipment in the basement) and thereā€™s constantly maintenance needed. Speaking of maintenance, it was hit or miss whether my requests were fixed or made even worse (or even filled at all). The experience was often frustrating. Windows that didnā€™t seal, allowing your electricity bill to run up and hear every noise as if you were on the sidewalk. Puddles of water sitting in the hallway with loud fans outside the door to try and dry it up. ā€œCurtainsā€ that you can see everything through if itā€™s lighter on the other side (donā€™t try changing on the first floor with the lights on). And thankfully I had my own mattress or I wouldā€™ve been even more miserable. We also had no choice over our room location, but at least it taught me to avoid places on the ground level next to a restaurant that blasts music and even leaves it on all night on occasion. My favorite part was the audacity to charge me for damages and cleaning nearly 4 months after I moved out. What do you want me to do, bleach the entire apartment before I leave? And Hundreds of dollars for floor and external door repair? I canā€™t even possibly think of what part of the floor they decided to charge me for. My apologies for not taking a picture of the floor around the entire apartment. How am I even supposed to dispute that? ā€œUh the floor looked fine to meā€ The employees were always nice but not always the most helpful. I couldnā€™t find an employee on my checkout day after at least an hour (it was a weekday and I had to catch a flight). I also received bad information over the phone that I would ā€œdefinitelyā€ be able to renew my apartment if I needed to wait a week then finding out shortly after that my unit had already been leased the next day. Iā€™m actually very thankful that happened though because it forced me to find a new and better place. After renting a place there, itā€™s pretty obvious they try to scare college students into making a quick decision by constantly saying theyā€™re running out of spots. Because itā€™s so effective, there ends up being some truth to it, which is a shame because thereā€™s not much to justify the price. Iā€™d recommend just paying a bit more for some of the nicer apartments around campus that actually invest in their building and amenities. Or go with an unfurnished apartment to save some money for similar quality. Honestly, I could even justify buying a car and living further off campus for a cheaper/nicer place before living in Chauncey. At this point you might think: ā€œoh itā€™s just one person. Most people probably like it enough and donā€™t write a review, response biasā€. Sure, maybe. But even I didnā€™t care enough to actually write one until they pull charges out of nowhere. It really has to take something special to get me to write a review. Please donā€™t fall victim to the underwhelming product being offered at this establishment. If I can save one person from having to live there, Iā€™ll feel like Iā€™ll have made the world a better place. Good luck and boiler up!

WARNING: Don't apply online, there is no point unless you want a chance to lose $200 for the application fee. I was wanting to live with 2 of my friends that were renewing their lease, and they had asked me to live with them. After planning on signing my lease and submitting the application (along with the $200 application fee), they contacted me later that day that the lease was already signed in person by 2 people, and that I had lost my spot with my own friends. Not only did this happen without my knowledge while applying, THEY DID NOT CONTACT MY FRIENDS THEY HAD GOTTEN ROOMMATES. Terribly unprofessional management, will say that the people I talked to over the phone were extremely friendly and apologetic, which makes me feel worse that there is no one to actually blame for this lack of transparency, especially when they don't respond to email.

Just moved in this year, staff made it very easy and were super helpful. So far Iā€™m really enjoying the property and the amenities are great, they even have 2 separate big gym areas. Any issues Iā€™ve had management has taken care of no problem. Love it here

Great apartments, facilities, and location for a good price. Had a setback with lack of communication for a sublet, but the management team were quick on getting an alternate. Faith Garrett, especially, held a good communication and was super helpful during the process.

Thank you so much for all the help with our application today. We really appreciate the extra patience. Renting a college apartment can be stressful and the Chauncey Square staff made it just the opposite. Calm, friendly and patient staff members. Pave the way for a terrific experience. Grateful!

The pay machine at the garage exit swallows your ticket!!! Then it will charge you $25 for a lost parking ticket, and you have to pay this ridiculous amount to exit for even 1 hour parking. Call button on the machine didnā€™t work and of course no number available to call. This is the stupidest thing I have experienced in 2023!
