I'm a carnivore and think this place is great. It's not meat. If you can get over that, I think this place executes well and everything was delicious. I didn't find the lack of meat a miss at all. Would definitely come back and order again if I was going meat free. Good to take vegan/vegetarian friends too

I’ve eaten at this place many times and all I can say is that this is one of my top favorite places in NYC. Everything I’ve tried was fresh and scrumptious and the portions were good size - definitely not small, and the prices are decent. Very friendly owner. I’m so thankful for a place like this for when I really want some Asian food but don’t want to worry about what I can order and what I can’t - everything here is vegan so I can order anything!

I lived in upper east side for 6 years, this has been one of my favorite places for vegan food for lunch. After moving to New Haven, today I came back here after almost an year for nostalgia. The place hasn’t changed. Still serve great vegan food. Decor is basic, cute, homely. My favorite are setain skewers, satay tempeh & mango roll. The Thai ice tea is refreshing too.

It was the first vegan restaurant in my life and not bad. I had Pad-Thai and my wife ordered Pumpkin Gazpacho Bowl. They use some vegetables instead of meat in Pat thai and it was natural. In the Pumpkin Gazpacho, there was kimchi and mixed all kinds of veges. I thought it was just mixed soup or something like that first, but ma wife enjoyed it. The waiter was calm and seemed a nice person. Interesting place.

Not only the best vegan restaurant I have ever visited, it is among the top restaurants in New York that I plan on returning to again and again. I am only visiting for a couple weeks this trip, and already know what I am going to order before i go home. On my first visit to Ginger Root Vegan I recognize that I now have new standard for vegan Asian Fusion restaurants. MUST HAVES: The brownie, the Orange Seitan, and any of the iced teas.

Great service, good spot for vegan food that also non-vegan folks would enjoy. We took the satay skewers, fried tofu skin, hot spicy soup, green papaya salad and Thai basil. To drink we took Thai iced coffee and hot cider. We loved everything apart from the green papaya salad - it had way too many green leaves, and too little dressing. Everything else was great, especially the appetizers and the iced coffee. Definitely coming back.

Got the bibimpap dinner, pretty solid and healthy. Came with two sauces which were pretty good, but didn't really need as the avocado was perfectly ripe and added a creaminess. Only thing was they gave me a napkin when I asked for none.

Literally like a second home for me, Simon always takes care of me and gives me first class service. Easily my favorite vegan place on the upper eastside. The ambiance is very calm and peaceful with serene music. The perfect place wind down and enjoy a well balanced vegan meal.

Lots of vegan lunch special options. Service was very friendly, attentive, and fast. I was given a vegetable soup option with the lunch special which had mushrooms and tofu with a very flavorful broth. I got the sweet and sour soy protein option, which came with a good amount of cauliflower, broccoli, and peppers. Very fresh and not too heavy. This is a great lunch option in the area.

I was looking for a Chinese vegan place for forever and just found this place on a happy cow. And OMG. The food is just amazing, even my meat eating friend enjoyed it. I really like yaki udon and black pepper seitan. Everything bursts with flavor, nicely cooked and extremely filling. The portion size is quite big, so I had to pack leftovers to go. As well as I ordered a couple meals for later. Everything was packed very nicely to reheat later. I will definitely be coming every time I'm in NYC.

Love coming here when I'm in New York City. I always order the Sweet & Sour Sesame Soy Protein which is just like Sweet & Sour Chicken. The people are lovely, the service is quick. The decor is a bit dated but other than that it's a really great vegan spot that I will recommend to all my friends and family.

I came at a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty empty. Right as we stepped in we were asked if we wanted to dine in or takeout. The food was good and the service was good too the staff was very nice and welcoming. Definitely would come back to try more of their food.

Ordered takeout here. The soy nuggets and scallion pancake are delicious. Wasn’t too big a fan of the seafood dish (only bc the “shrimp”pieces had a weird texture, was kinda slimy, and didn’t really taste much like anything”)

Vegan Eats Review: Spring Rolls (a little too floury) Miso Soup (watered down) Steamed Veggie Buns (just the right amount of filling to bun ratio) Bean Curd Skin Rolls (very tasty) Vegan Orange Chicken (plenty for two) Family run business. Super nice staff. Decent portions. Has a western Chinese food vibe with some delicious dim sum options.

This place is fabulous! It has many options and everything is vegan. Food was tasty, service fast and staff very kind. Also, it has a lunch special and the portions are generous, delicious and still reasonably priced . I strongly recommend this place even if you're not vegan should give them a chance.

This restaurant is a warm, comfortable, clean environment where the people are friendly and the food is delicious. The price is also reasonable for the great amount of food that they give you.

It’s so delicious and I don’t normally like eating veggies! (Portion size is big, this is written after I ate some already) How did I not know soy protein and vegetables can taste this good before! The nugget appetizer is so good, so is the soy protein dish on the top in the picture.

Cozy, HIT-W (Hole In The Wall) Vegan Restaurant with a slew of Pan-Asian dishes that were utterly delicious, decadent, and delightful. I will definitely be visiting Ginger Root Vegan again and again because why not!?

It is a sin to eat twice at a single location when in NYC, but this place was worth the second visit. We tried multiple appetizers and entrees on both of our visits, there wasn’t a single item we did not thoroughly enjoy. Staff was very kind, place is very clean, and flavors are very consistent. Food is served hot and fresh, I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

I wish there was a Ginger Root in my city! I ordered my Christmas dinner from this place and I didn't regret a thing. Take out was my preference but if I ever get back to the city and things are back to normal, this will be my first stop. Fresh and the flavor was there and definitely still gave you that authentic taste without compromising the dish.

I had my birthday dinner here with my friends who eat meat. We love this place, the food is delicious, the chocolate cake is perfect. My friends were excited about this vegan food because it is really very tasty even for those who love meat.

Excellent vegan Asian fusion. Small little 8 table. We were the only ones eating in. Lots of take out happening. Nice to have vegan Thai ice tea and Thai iced coffee! My daughter is a teriyaki aficionado and said this was the best she had ever had. I had cold green tea sesame noodles. The sauce did not look great but the taste was fantastic. Surprise of the night was the dessert. Anazing chocolate bundt cake with peanut butter mousse.

Absolutely phenomenal vegan Asian food! I order here at least once a week since I discovered them on Grub Hub. Always arrives hot, fresh, clean, high quality ingredients and so nutritious! Everything is delicious and made with incredible care. I love their pumpkin soup, simple yet very filling and satisfying. Highly recommend Ginger House!

The nicest owners! More of a takeout/delivery place, but with such warm hospitality, I'm not sure why patrons don't dine in more often. I would definitely visit again. Good spot for delicious vegan fare!

Delicious, great price, fantastic service, lots of take out! Great vegan place (even non-vegan friends would enjoy). Accommodating of food allergies/needs. Highly recommended

Mediocre. We didn't get everything we ordered, and the food that actually came (the sauteed tofu vegetables) wasn't great. We called about the missing dishes and the guy was nonchalant and hung up on us. They ultimately didn't charge us for the missing stuff but it was still annoying

I am not a vegan but wanted to try a vegan place and they exceeded expectations in how delicious the food was. Also the service was outstanding 💯 We tried: - General Tso - Sweet and sour vegan chicken

It’s become a go to place for vegan Chinese food. Their lunch specials are great. I’ve tried a few dishes already. You get a steamed pumpkin with miso soup, it’s a good deal. For dinner, you get a little more. I’ve dined there and I’ve also ordered take out the food has been the same. Lately I’ve been ordering delivery and they’re on time and the food has been good so far. I had their brownie and chocolate cake both were good. I’ll miss this place when I move.

The food was good. Nice to find a vegan asian spot, but the summer rolls came really loosely wrapped and just fell apart when I tried to take them out of the container wouldn't recommend them there wasnt really anything inside of them anyways except two ingredients and a whole spring of cilantro. Didnt even eat them they didnt taste good with the sauce. The pad thai was yummy, but we ordered one with extra veggies (which they charged us for) and they both had the same amount of veggies (which was a very little amount) so that was annoying but other than that for a quick bite for a vegan wasnt that bad.

Compelling lunch menu options around $10, and comes with lots of extras to fill you up. Everything is vegan which is amazing, but with so many protein options it will definitely hit the spot if you’re craving some Chinese food. I’m here at 1pm and I’m the only customer, which is shocking to me. I’m being treated like a king!

Ginger root is one of our favorite vegan restaurants! It is the most amazing take out and now eating here in person, it is just as impressive! The food came so quickly and with two complimentary miso soups that were delicious. The general tsoi “chicken” is crispy and saucy: a real treat! All the noodle dishes have such an addicting yet light sauce with a variety of mixed veggies, we have such a hard time choosing which to get! Finally, their eggplant string beans dish comes as an extremely generous portion and has such a unique and delicious flavor. These dishes also come with perfectly cooked rice and soy beans. Eating this in person has been delightful as the staff is extremely attentive and continues to try to make your experience the best. We also truly appreciate how reasonable the prices here are for these delicious dishes! We will be coming here for as long as we live in NYC, and highly recommend to everyone!
