We were visiting New York to meet up with a friend and came here for food and to catch up! Atmosphere is small but cozy and not too loud. Our waiter was very friendly and the service was good! We ordered the burger and chicken sandwich which came out nice and hot. Everything looked and tasted great. We ordered a slice of carrot cake and banana toffee cake. The carrot cake was moist and the frosting wasn’t too sweet. I really enjoyed the banana toffee cake, good toffee to banana ratio! I’m glad I stopped by; it was a good place to catch up with friends!

Cosy west village haunt with great brunch options including their iconic hash browns as well as a crowd favorite French toast! Limited indoor seating so come early or hit up the weekday for a chance at the menu!

Delicious food in a cozy atmosphere. Alan is an inviting host whom I remember well. Love the cauliflower appetizer. The blue cheese complimented the steak well. I also enjoyed the roasted eggplant in the ratatouille!

I gave this place a 2/5 star rating because, while the service was excellent, the food left much to be desired. The standout was definitely our waiter, who was attentive, helpful, and very entertaining. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the same standard. I would strongly advise against coming here solely for the food. The cocktails were a positive aspect of the experience, but the food itself was disappointing. It seemed like a lot of effort was put into the dishes, but they simply didn't deliver in terms of taste and quality. The fries were a particular letdown, resembling leftover bits of potatoes that were cooked to a crisp. While the service was top-notch, the subpar food experience means that I won't be returning to this establishment.

Charming spot on a corner - went here early on a sunny weekday morning. Just a nice classy vibe overall - worth checking out the photos from others. For food, I wasn't starving and went for the breakfast sandwich - egg, cheese, jalapenos on a English muffin. No meat by default but I figured I'd give it a shot - maybe the spice would carry it to delicious victory. It looked like it was put together with love but unfortunately was pretty bland? Maybe not enough peppers or I should have added another protein. Next time I'll give the avocado toast a shot instead. Wife got the mushroom croquet and that looked pretty great. Lots of cheese with a bed of mushrooms below. I regret not stealing a bite. As for service, waitress was nice, but after attempting awkward eye contact for a while I did have to get up to get some ketchup since she was distracted. Not a big deal, place was quiet so I get it. Looking forward to giving it another shot.

The food was delicious! Service was wonderful. The place is definitely a lot of movement going on all around. Then again this is the west village. Service was friendly. Prices was a little crazy. I ordered the chopped liver as a snack and it was amazing! This place is around the corner from the 1 train - Christopher street station! Check this quaint and charming restaurant!

Food 5/10 Ordered the wrong dishes for my taste profile lmao. The cauliflower appetizer was fine, a little lacking in flavor and strangely tasting like Shin ramen?? The Croque madame was ok. We got the pollock, which I thought came with two pieces of fish, but really it was one piece of fish and another piece of potato disguised as fish. I hate potatoes so it already was off to a rough start. The dish also came with bell peppers, which I dislike with a passion. Atmosphere 7/10 Cute typical west village farm to table vibes. Wooden paneling, natural lighting, intimate and cozy interior. Service 5/10 Not sure why I felt this but the server was weirdly passive aggressive and rude to us.

Joseph Leonard offers a beautiful space and a commendable staff, creating a welcoming environment. However, the overall dining experience fell short as the food lacked flavor, prompting us to send back one dish. Additionally, the cocktails were somewhat flavorless. Despite these shortcomings, the excellent service and appealing ambiance make it a place worth considering.

We stopped in for brunch on a quiet Wednesday. We had the hash brown nest (amazing texture and so nicely cooked). I think my dining partner had the Avocado Toast, I had the Ham & Eggs (it was definitely a moment). The eggs were cooked perfectly. The whole thing hit my breakfast spot. The service was quick and the servers were lovely. Shout out for the best coffee I had in Manhattan this week. We went to a lot of NYCs greatest hits but these unassuming folks pulled the best shot I had all week (and with the least attitude). We will make this a frequent stop when we're in the city.

Came here for the first time for a Saturday brunch and overall had a decent experience. The service was a bit slow which I think is mostly due to the large crowd that was dining. However, the food and drinks were extremely tasty and made up for the long wait. Do watch out for the cocktails as they cost the same amount as an entree! Also, I HIGHLY recommend you reserve in advance. Folks were walking in and had an hour plus long wait times.

Had the most incredible dinner last night at Joseph Leonard. First, the staff have such great energy and rapport with each other, the good vibes are palpable, and translate into delicious food and a wonderfully energetic but also refined atmosphere. Second, we were treated to a feast for the ages, courtesy of a connection to the chef, which blew our minds. Everything we ate (most of the appetizers on the menu, a bone-in rib eye for two, greens and beans, banana toffee and poppyseed desserts, to summarize) was absolutely delicious. Thank you team JL. And special shout-outs to Sarah, our delightful and hospitable server/bartender on this most memorable night, and Julianne, a fellow diner and regular of the restaurant who snapped this pic of my friends and me.

Had an utterly delightful dinner on a busy weeknight. From the moment we walked in, we were treated warmly and served very well. We ordered multiple vegetables for appetizers, enjoyed cocktails, and ravished the steak for two. My daughters love this place and were so eager to share it with me. They are completely right in their high esteem!

A really great high end restaurant. Oh and the deviled eggs - please try the deviled eggs. Super tasty. All around a great classy meal.

100% yes. We went for brunch and got the cheeseburger and fried chicken sandwich. Both were so delicious, not a single thing I would change. The chicken was crispy and paired very well with the pickles. The burger was cooked perfectly to order, juicy, and came with dangerously addictive fries. The ambiance was beautiful and quaint. It felt like a little hidden gem. Decor and vibe seemed natural and not a forced aesthetic. The staff were all very polite and helpful. I would love to go back asap!

Fantastic neighborhood feel for brunch. I had the avocado toast, which needed a little salt but was tasty. My friend had the croque madame. Again, completely adequate. I loved the vibe more than anything. Friendly service.

Even in the city with so many places that offer great breakfast, Joseph Leonard stood out. Excellent care all the way through, even in their presentation. We tried coffee, hash browns, omelette and french toast and all were great! (The toast best of all). Plus, the place and staff are lovely.

Stopped in for dinner on a Friday evening without a reservation. Was welcomed despite that, and given a seat at the bar. Bar tender served up a terrific old fashioned. Enjoyed my burger , but what struck me more was how much the staff seemed to enjoy each other , and interacting with their guests. Would definitely return.

I loved Jeffrey’s Grocery so I knew I’d love this place too. And I was not let down! Was served some quality oysters, mussels, and great cocktails. Love the cozy feel of this smaller space and it stands out from all the other restaurants around the village. Definitely go for the seafood tower!

Very nice place in a very nice neighborhood. A bit pricey but all within reason for the neighborhood and the food is absolutely excellent with at least one very good vegan option. The staff is kind and made sure we could get a table (for 5) within less than 5 minutes. As we went there pretty late, I am guessing that earlier times might be trickier for large parties. The food is really good and the service is fast. Of course you can find cheaper but I would argue that it was very good and might actually make sense.

Definitely recommend this place for a Brunch! We ate on the small terrace. The food and service was great! Its probably the best hash brown I had! Ill definitely come back! Don’t forgot to make a reservation, it’s super busy otherwise

Delicious and simple American menu in a lively ambiance. Highly recommend the cauliflower and ham/cheese plate as an appetizer. The roasted chicken was outstanding and the dessert special was gone in 30 seconds. Definitely will return.

Host was terrible. She probably didn’t want a customer to dine in at exactly 9 AM, lol. The server was accommodating and nice. I looked at other photos of the Baguette French toast here but I got this instead. It was good but nothing special.

Had a lovely lunch here today, sat in their little outdoor space and enjoyed their nice weather. The staff was lovely and had contagious positive vibes they all made our lunch welcoming and memorable. The food was simple and well put together and hit all the spots. Our server Aaron (spelling?) was absolutely lovely and we watched him expertly gauge each of this tables and interact with them accordingly, we are very much the quiet eating type and although he was extremely friendly and knowledgeable he left us to our own devices while still being attentive and wonderful. Will return! 10/10 recommend

Delicious brunch, I had the avocado toast and the hash brown. Would highly recommend both. The hash brown is a must try, unlike any other has brown I’ve ever had. Friendly staff and the space is so cute (small but it’s nyc)!

Favorite neighborhood spot. Miss being inside at the cozy bar - they have about 8 tables outside - a few with heaters. Delicious burger and a hot cider! So good

Very lovely place. The food was immaculate, the service was wonderful, and even the detail in the interior atmosphere, just beautiful. I believe my servers name was George, and he was extremely kind — as far as food, I ordered the pate (which they make in house) and the salmon, and let me tell you.. that food knocked my socks off.. and I was wearing two pairs. I also got the cider, which may or may not have thrown my math skills out the window at the end, and a lager imported from France, and both were excellent choices. If you're looking for an upscale, friendly restaurant, that you can actually afford, this is the spot.

What to say? We had an amazing experience. The location is just far enough from busier west village streets to feel like a hideout. This feeling was (positively) reinforced by the cozy indoor seating. We were in a booth right next to the kitchen, which was fun. Notably, the service was exceptional. Our waitress was warm and attentive while still maintaining a relaxed vibe. 5/5 definitely go.

Wow. What a place. Party atmosphere. Great soundtrack. Amazing food. Like Mom’s homemade with an attitude. And wash it down with a very thoughtful cocktail served by a fully engaged waiter. Go now.
