The calves liver with bacon and onions (first photo) is the tastiest one that I have ever had in The City. The mashed potatoes (second photo) were a creamy delight. Mary is one of the friendliest managers there is. Rochelle, the waitress, provided me good service. I will return to try the famous lamb chops.

A greatly underated establishment in New York. Superb customer service. The friendliest homliest bar/restaurant in New York. The staff are there years which speaks for itself but then so are the customers. You never know who you will meet when you drop in. Great front of house with Mary and Una. 2 brilliant and knowledgeable barmen. Overall 10/10 I'll be back

The food was INCREDIBLE! We got the lamb chops that was perfectly seasoned and crisped. The corned beef was astonishing so we got seconds. What makes this place truly unique (that I was unaware of when we came in) was the history. Jimmy and his daughter was there and they made the experience so lovely. They were absolutely amazing and made us feel like home. I cannot wait to come back!!

Neary's is a family of locals who dine there all the time because the food is great. The new hostess, only 45 years at Neary's, is such a delight and makes sure you are comfortable and Welcomed. This is not a place to misbehave as someone from God's house, at least 3 politicians, and a security officer will be seated nearby. Una, Neary's daughter, continues the tradition of finding out who is in the house and connecting. It is a joy to feel, even for an hour, that someone really cares that you have a great meal and a good time. Thank you. And thank you lovely Siobhan. And this is not a place to take pictures...the food is too good to pause.

There IS a dress code!!! They gave me pants and a shirt to put over my t-shirt and shorts. The food was amazing, small place, cool ambience. Mary, our waitress, has been serving for 44 years. She was super friendly, told us all about the history of the restaurant and the owner, and all the history on the walls. A great upscale pub, without the rowdy football fans.

So disappointed. I ordered some desserts, but they gave me a dirty look cause i did not order their main dishes. I went to the toilet and forgot my phone on the table. I came back and i was told to switch table to the other side. I hadn’t noticed my lost phone till i was about to get a taxi outside. I went back to the restaurant and asked them if they saw it. They ignored us and was so rude. They did not bother searching it for us. While in fact, i believe it was stolen. It was a new iphone, so i did not get a chance to turn on Find My Iphone. I also haven’t signed in an icloud yet. No camera security there. I felt so hopeless. Despite of how hard we have saved money to get that iphone 13 pro max, a lot of great photos were taken on that iphone as well. 2 days later, i went back to the restaurant meeting different staff. They were nice to me, but one of the bar tenders ended up saying here a lot of people have lost their phones these days. 1st time in new york, they made feel like we never want to come back to new york again. So be careful with your items out there guys.

Wonderful staff and friendly atmosphere. Enjoyed (and highly recommend) the day's special of turkey and irresistible sauce! Authentic Irish pub/restaurant culture vibe.

We returned to Nearys after a long break due to Covid and our relocation. It's was an amazing evening seeing our old friends. Jimmy has passed but his legacy is in good hands with Mary and Una taking over the "Master of Ceremonies" position. All the staff is the same. Let's talk about the food the Lamb Chops are legendary. We also love the French Onion soup , Prime Rib and Liver. Don't forget to leave room for desert and Irish Coffee !! The Irish Coffee is fantastic !!

This was our first of hopefully many times dining at Neary's. We saw the documentary on PBS (now on Amazon Prime apparently) and had to go. Una has followed in her father's footsteps wonderfully. We never met Mr. Neary, unfortunately, but I have much confidence that Dad would be proud. I am a sucker for a classic menu, and it did not disappoint. If you want to feel special and welcomed like an old friend at a classic, local establishment, Neary's is it!

This is what you would expect in a place of great standards. It is a gem to find a place where customer service is on par with the excellent food. Yes the prices may be on the higher end and there may be no Guinness on tap, but the experience very well makes up for it. Thank you to Tommy for being such a wonderful host. Will definitely make this a regular spot.

The spirit of the wonderful Jimmy Neary lives on in this neighborhood favorite. While his smile and presence will always be missed the staff and bartenders keep the tradition of tasty, hearty food and strong drinks going. No better place to get warm and nostalgic.

Beautiful, cozy, elegant restaurant with great food and friendly, courteous staff. Fantastic lambchops, French onion soup, fish, and rice pudding. Looking forward to trying other dishes. The owner and the general manager make sure the patrons have a great dining experience. Very highly recommended!

We have found a new restaurant FOR US in New York Comfortable pub environment. Really nice staff. Dinner was terrific. I had lamb chops that were the best I've had in New York in years. DALE had corned beef and cabbage which she never eats and she said it was terrific. We should've had rice pudding but had ice cream instead for dessert. That wasn't so terrific. We will be back

A New York institution that makes you feel like home. Great food, great service, great atmosphere, and they will treat you like family.

Loved this place. Food and service were great--steaks were perfect. Our visit was made extra special when the owner Jimmy came by and displayed his jovial Irish charm. Some dear friends dragged us to this place, but my wife and I can't wait to get back to NYC and return to this hidden gem of fine culinary cuisine and service.

Such a unique place. It's an old-school Irish restaurant (not a pub) with classic decor and a beautiful bar. The corned beef and french onion soup really stood out. You can tell the owners take so much pride in running the restaurant, as they're incredibly chatty and half the tables were filled with regulars. Only negative is the lack of beers on tap, but this is more of a place to get a cocktail than a beer.

Loved the Waterford crystal above the bar. Pretty place and the wait staff Elizabeth and Mary are wonderful. Love that Jimmy goes from table to table greeting his guests. Not another place like it in NYC that I am aware of in terms of hospitality. Pork chops and steak were very good.

Completely unexpected! Many years ago stepped in unknowingly of their history and was greeted by Jimmy and you felt known even though it was my first visit. Sat at bar and staff was so attentive. Food was incredible! Second visit… was like how I imagine walking into to “Cheers” would have been. Everyone remembered even though months went by! A rare gem in NYC and worth a visit for the amazing food, warm and meaningful hospitality and connections ! Became a regular and will always be a stop after leaving NYC on my visits !
