Rollright Stones is awe-inspiring ancient site that carries an air of enchantment. The stone circle, consisting of three distinct formations, has captivated visitors for centuries. The tranquil surroundings and expansive views of the Oxfordshire countryside create a serene atmosphere for contemplation and reflection. Steeped in folklore and legend, the site exudes a sense of mystery and spiritual significance. The well-preserved stones and their alignment with celestial events add to the allure of this prehistoric marvel. A visit to Rollright Stones is a journey into the past, connecting visitors to the ancient traditions and beliefs of our ancestors.

As a Dane I was a little wary of visiting this place; I'd read up on the legend and was fully aware if a witch appeared and made me nebulous promises about becoming King of England on seeing Long Compton after seven paces I should say no. I had already resolved that if this occurred I would stand still until my friends brought me a hot air balloon. It was a beautiful Summer's day and there were a few people around: the cash box was missing so I went to the website and paid the one pound entrance fee for each of us, and we wandered among the stones. Lovely place, one of the best stone circles.

Visited last weekend. Nice circle of stones. Roadside free parking. Good enough spaces available. There are three scattered places of rocks. King rock is on another side of the road. Cross the road carefully. Nice scenic beauty for capturing pictures.

At the gates, it states you need to pay ยฃ1 online. Parking is on the side of a busy road, and that's free. There are lots of interesting history and tales of witches. The stone circle is uncountable. Different number each time you walk round. If you get the same.e umber after three goes you an make a wish!

Definitely worth visiting. Beautiful views! And a good starting point to longer walks to Long Compton or Chipping Norton.

Atmospheric ancient stones with great views of the countryside on a clear day. From the large roadside lay-by, The King's Men stone circle is nearest. Dating back to around 2,500 BC, it features a distinct entrance opposite the tallest stone. The total number of stones is said to vary with every count. A short walk through the field leads to The Whispering Knights, an impressive burial chamber believed to be one of the UK's oldest. It's fenced in for protection, but you can still get a good view, and an information board nearby tells its story. The King Stone, distinctively shaped and believed to date back to around 1,500 BC, stands across the road. When I visited in late afternoon the area was fairly quiet, but it's a popular spot and can get quite busy during the day. Donations are welcomed to help with the preservation of the stones.

A lovely spot offering beautiful views of The Cotswolds. This general area actually features three lots of historic sites/stones! The site costs ยฃ1 to enter (payable online) and offers free roadside parking.

Such a lovely energy here, and magical place to visit Steeped with history and located within gorgeous countryside. There are two lay-bys nearby with free parking and a goodwill box for a ยฃ1 entry fee. I visited on a weekday at 11 am, and found parking accessible and a few other visitors admiring these beautiful stones. Well worth a visit if you are passing by or in the local vicinity

We went in the evening just as the sun was setting. Amazing views and very tranquil. No one else there. A well-kept historical landmark.

A place that has limestones erected around 4000 years ago in an almost circular display. The stones look weathered by time. I think it is a nice place to have picnics and see the landscape.

Stopped by while on holiday in the Cotswolds area and really enjoyed seeing the stones. Worth a stop if in the area. We were fortunate to arrive during filming of a video of some sort and were able to observe the filming for a bit. Extra cool!
