Golden Palace Chinese Take Away

Restaurant Chinese restaurant Chinese takeaway

🫤 Fast service but not the best Chinese in town. Pancake roll full of beansprouts and carrots with one prawn and one piece of shredded meat and oozed fat. Food a bit bland - chips were clearly double cooked. Ribs a bit dry. Staff friendly and CASH ONLY. People often mention sauce, chips, time, cooked, good, takeaway, chicken, chow, mein,

Really nice- much better than "others" in Witney! Had beef with peppers and black bean sauce, sweet and sour pork, singapore noodles and a special fried rice, ( Not all for me! lol) ALL great! Complete collection menu attached

We had chips one evening, and I can tell you the chips we had were cooked earlier in the day or even the day before as they where tough as old boots! And tastes of nothing. . Don't order fish and chips from here.

The lady serving was really lovely but the fish & chips I had were not great. The chips were lukewarm and the fish clearly came out of a packet. A real shame as I hear their Chinese scoff is really good. Never mind, I'll live.

We had a big order takeaway with 1/2 pekingese duck, satay chicken skewers, two loys of chow mein and a couple of other bits. The duck was lovely but they buy those in frozen as kits. Everything was watery and not very nice at all. The satay had the right amount of chili but the peanut sweet/salt flavour was simply absent. How do you make satay and it not even taste of peanuts? The chow mein is the worst I've had in a long time. Honestly the food was really 2 stars but the duck saved the day. Not sure they really ought to have credit for that. Go to other places, there are MUCH better, especially given how these guys charge more!

The sweet and sour sauce smelt really strongly and tasted like ammonia!! There was something seriously wrong with it. So much so the 3 of us ended up throwing everything away and gagging at the smell left behind. When I called to tell them the chef refused to believe me at all. He said it was the same as always.( Ive ordered here before and its never tasted like ammonia!)He refused to believe the genuine severity of it or in fact that there was even an issue. I couldn't be bothered to drive there to prove my point after paying delivery and I didnt want to stink out the car with it so literally just wasted 30 quid! . I would AVOID!.

Recent visit from Newcastle, ordered 2 X chicken chow mein , 1 X chilli beef chow mein , 2x chips and a tub of BBQ sauce. The chicken chow mein was clearly cooked in 2 stages, noodles first added to bottom of the tub, then the blandest and boiled carrots and cabbage with some chicken added to the top was tasteless and had no sauce. The chilli beef chow mein was the same but with a bit of sweet chilli sauce added to it. Wouldn't recommend or visit again and at £32.50 not the cheapest place for food

Awful food! ordered house rice with sauce was just dry bland rice, prawn toast was wafer thin and soggy seemed almost raw, won't order from here again one of the worst chineses I've ever had very expensive for disgusting food

I haven’t had food from the golden palace in a long time but I have to say the food I had this evening was the worst Chinese takeaway I’ve ever had and it was so expensive. The chicken satay skewers were awful, they were rubbery and there was no peanut taste whatsoever it tasted sour, just nasty. The lemon chicken was dry, the coating was like cardboard and for £8 the serving was tiny, the lemon sauce also had virtually no flavour. On a positive note the young girl serving was really lovely and very polite but I’m sorry to say that unless something drastic changes the quality of the food I won’t be going back.

Unfortunately today had the worst takeaway in a long time from here. I would have liked to be able to send feedback via email or Facebook but unfortunately that isn’t an option so I wanted to shared my experience. Firstly, this was the first time we had used golden palace for a while, and I know prices have gone up significantly but the price of our usually takeaway went from £27 last time we ate here to £38 today. This increase in cost also seems to have had effect on the food quality. Everything was very very watery and very bland. If it wasn’t watery it was rubbery and off putting. It felt like a lot of corners had been cut all round. Just really disappointing overall. When a takeaway costs almost £20 per person, it has to be great every time, and this was miles away from good enough. Sadly we will not be returning to Golden Palace.

Only leaving one star as you must to leave a review. We should've taken seeing the chef scoffing in the kitchen as a big enough sign to avoid but we were starving and so were the kids so we gave it ago. Absolutely vile experience this evening, my partner was eating his meal and pulled a huge long grey hair from his mouth. As you'd expect we didn't want to eat anything else. We phoned up and the manager wouldn't even speak with me, made the young lady on the front till speak, she offered to refund the food with hair in. I explained were not eating from unsanitary premesis and I expect full or atleast half a refund for food wasted/ now unedible.. -upon return of left over and untouched food AND HAIR. The quality of food wasn't great either, seem to bulk dishes out with loads of vegetables and not the meat ordered. Meat definitely not cooked fresh, noodles banged in the bottom of a box with bland veg and double cooked meat. Management still wouldn't speak with me anyway, apparently too busy. Wish I'd read reviews on this place first.. absolutely gross. Money grabbers, only take cash too. Went spent 40 pounds and a good 30 pound worth of food was wasted. Management cannot understand why anyone wouldn't want to eat after finding human hair in their food. After actually chewing on it too. Vile! Also the food only took ten mins to make ... Not always good. So glad we didn't order the set meal for four with chips. 🥴 DO NOT EAT FROM THIS PLACE

Make sure you have cash as don't accept card. Service was friendly and didn't have to wait long for food (not always a good thing). Not overly impressed with food. Duck in yellow bean with cashews...very little duck. Chicken balls were ok. Asked for pot of bbq sauce and have no idea what it was, but most unusual looking and tasting sauce we've ever had. Only went as in area of town but won't be going again.
