Every time I come here it’s a bad experience. The customer service is always rude & insensitive to others taste in style. This store is always filled with inexperienced young women that don’t care about the customers feelings or how they speak to you. They barely even wanted to take me at the register, they kept walking past me. Nor do they ever take my clothes here and the styles are very up to date. I don’t recommend unless you want to waste gas money and to be embarrassed by young women. I’ve come here about 10 times and each time the experience has been bad. This is an honest review, I try to give certain business a chance with time but their business just doesn’t grow or change and lacks respect. Please hire older more considerate women/ men to work here as well as more fashionable looks inside. Sorry but not sorry. This is my 10th bad experience I don’t even care if my style isn’t appreciated but to be embarrassed I will NOT take. Along with other times they didn’t take my clothes due to them being “out of style” now this time they have an “odor” but the girl couldn’t even tell me what they smelled like. The girl also asked me if I wanted to smell them myself. Which made me uncomfortable since that’s clearly rude and I did wash the clothes. Overall I’m so upset with this experience here.

This place is a waste of time and effort. I brought in practically brand new name brand stuff (Michael kors, Nike, puma) and they took not one item. This happens all the time. Plus the girls that work here always look at me in a way that makes me feel they are judging me Great way to treat ppl. Left feeling like a huge bum LOL I won't bother with this place ever again. I'd rather donate to a more worthy place/cause

This store is a real gem in our area. Great products and service. The family that owns the store is active in the community. They support our local baseball league and provide gift cards for many fund raising events around town. As someone that has a family member that works for them, I know how they go above and beyond caring for employees. This is NOT a paid review, but someone that has deep respect for this family and is coming to their defense with a disgruntle employee and her friends. We love Plato's Closet West Springfield!

Honestly it's always awful. Went back today to try again and brought some clothes with me to sell. Was given 14 dollars for 3 pairs of pants and 2 shirts. When asked why it was so little after realizing it was more items than I thought, neither of the two associates could give me an answer on how the priced are set. Both started throwing out percentages which still wouldn't add up to not even 3 dollars per item. One pair of the pants alone will sell for more than that. Wasn't worth the gas money or my time and energy. Wish I had just taken my clothes back.

Very disappointed with the experience tonight :( we were very excited to go in and look around as we haven’t been in a while and showed up around 6:45 (they close at 8 so plenty of time) and greeted the employees with a happy hello and weren’t given anything in response. The girls working seemed to be very annoyed at anyone coming in including ourselves. They were doing what seemed to be closing procedures such as putting clothes away and paper work and when we would ask questions they would just seem very annoyed and give very short answers. As we were leaving one of the girls checking us out made a very snarky comment to us which caught us off guard and the whole time we just felt very un welcomed and like they wanted us to leave. I truly love Plato’s closet and am hopeful I can go back to a better experience with different employees

My daughter is now in adult clothes and we consistently find *amazing* things here at unbelievable prices for her, all of it in great condition and completely on-trend. I'm a mom floating it all on my own and she grows overnight, and is at an age now where personal style and appearance have started to become really important. As a former owner of a clothing consignment shop, I know how hard it is to keep a balance with what comes in and what's already in stock (and explain that to people). It's *never* easy and the piles never cease. Staff is always kind and helpful, though, even when it's crazy busy, and the racks are stuffed. I've been in several times in the past few weeks and there's always new stuff out every few days, too. This place is a godsend.

Unbelievable, they low ball you every time. Even for brand new, name brand (Nike,UGG,Aero) never worn, you wont even make a full $20. Then try and sell it higher...joke. NEVER going back.

My friends and I just lovee platoes. You can find some really cute clothes for reasonable prices. It's great to come on clearance sale days.

Two of the little girls in there were complaining about getting out on time. They said straight to a customer, really an hour before close? If you don’t want to work, don’t. Nevermind the fact that they didn’t even go all the way down the basket and they passed on everything saying they dont take those brands. They don’t take nike? So people just put their nike clothes on the racks? The girl in front of us experienced the same thing and asked why and the girl said they dont take loftin brands. We ask what brands they dont take and the same girl looked through our bin again and realized they take those brands, then asked the other girl what brands do we not take and they said Loftins, I thought she knew that already? Man, some managers really need to see more in depth on work ethics. I’ll go to Enfield!

Went to sell 2 bags worth of stuff today, all of which is all nice stuff and decent clothing. Not sure if the employees forget that the people selling items mostly will remain in the store or not but that is what I decided to do. As I’m coming down an isle towards the counter I see then pulling out the clothes, one employee holds up an article of clothing to another employee and laughs saying “hey, (insert other workers name), think we should buy this?” As the other employee then laughs and responds with a snarky laugh and quick “NO.” I then get a text message that everything is done a few seconds after hearing and walking by them… which makes no sense seeing they just started opening the first bag when I was walking by hearing them talking… regardless I go up to check out and to get my offer to be told they are passing on everything I brought because of an “Oder” LOL… how do clothes that were washed right before being brought there have an “Oder” and how are they smelling said “Oder” when they took one thing out, laughed at it, and threw it back in the bag. It seems to have been their stinky attitudes they were smelling. You don’t treat people that way. Going to a different store in the future without any doubt. I should have just left what I had in my hand to buy there and bought nothing.

Brought in 3 reusable bags (grocery size) of clothing. Was told they can only take one bag from customers. Someone had a giant ikea bag and that was deemed acceptable. Makes no sense whatsoever…

Love all the items i got for today. Clearance items were pretty great but oh men., Nike and Adidas are way priced up. 😁🙃 Just looking for athletic stuff and pretty expensive for some items. Found a Lululemon for $18. Still pricey, but oh well.

I’ve had to edit my review, I hate to do this because I’ve been a customer for a long time but it’s the truth of the matter and needs to be said. This store is way too picky about taking items, it has never been this bad. I brought in some items with tags, they were still not taken. I brought in athletic wear, but because some of them were “old navy active” they don’t take it, even though they take old navy in general. What? If the items are in good condition what difference does it make? It has just gotten to the point where it’s not worth selling to them anymore. Items with tags/brand new should be taken. There are too many rules and according to the staff, they’re “overstocked on everything pretty much” -so then why are you buying? It just doesn’t make sense to me as a buyer or seller here. I’ll be taking my items elsewhere for the foreseeable future.

Horrible selection of clothes. very outdated and not stylish. The few pieces I found had stains on them. Also the line was very line and only 1 of the 4-5 employees was on the register.

I brought a lot of brand name clothes, some never worn and some worn only once and they didn't except it because it was too formal... same with heels and purses

The employees were all very nice, college age kids who were very polite. The store wasn’t busy and they were quick to assist me which I appreciate. To give you an idea: I brought in a pile of in season clothing, shoes & accessories (they accepted exactly 1/2) and the retail price I paid for each item was around $45/each taking an average. All were brand new unworn with the tags still attached. I received $3.80 for each item accepted. Mostly brand new unworn shoes & some Pink brand & Chinese Laundry stuff my daughter never wore that still had the tags. I was surprised to see how old the stuff was on the racks, spotted some Y2K memories. I almost picked out a vintage bucket bag. The selection is nice. You’ll want to bring your items in using a sturdy reusable bin as a rule here. We used a rather large cardboard box. The location is in the worst section of town and traffic was a bear. I think if I resell our old clothing on Poshmark or eBay I’d probably get a lot more for these. I was surprised that never worn shoes that I paid $65 for only brought under $5 but I guess this is the business model. I probably won’t go through traffic again for such little return but I suppose it’s easier than listing on eBay hoping someone else would want to buy my daughter’s new never worn stuff lol. The store has a pretty large inventory from what I can tell. Things are organized by size and type. The location is also pretty clean itself. If you or if you have a teen child who likes to buy clothes then they sit in her closet for a year with tags still on them, this may be helpful for you to unload the stuff your children just refuse to wear. They seem very cautious about what they accept; not even brand new boots made the cut, because they had some dust so you can be assured the stuff for sale in the store is extremely clean. So for a mom this is helpful, it’s just quite a mess in traffic to get there.

I had decided to drop some items off here after a bad experience at a different Plato’s. The overall environment was so much nicer, the girls working we’re all very kind & full of energy, considering it was a Saturday and I know they get busy I was very pleasantly surprised at how efficient they worked! Overall great experience and I can’t wait to come back to do some shopping & sell some more items! 😀
