My husband had to have laser surgery here this morning. Firstly, the doctor was 3.5 hours late, not the Center’s fault, but the Center’s lack of communication and follow through with the doctor’s office and the waiting patients was inexcusable and unprofessional. Rather than keeping the patients apprised, they tried to shift the blame. My husband asked to speak to an administrator, I believe Robin was her name. Totally useless. In fact they threatened to throw my husband out! He didn’t blame them for the doctor’s lateness, just their lax attitude about communicating with the patients. As former administrators, this is unacceptable.

Horrible service, no regards for patients time whatsoever. Showed up on time for my appointment, over 2 1/2 hours has passed now and still waiting!

I recently had cataract surgery in both eyes and the experience was totally acceptable. The administrative staff was knowledgeable and courteous. The medical specialists were completely accommodating to my needs, and all questions were addressed. The follow-up call I received a week later was a nice touch, and reinforced my belief that the facility truly cares about their patients.

Island Eye had the most pleasant staff! Everyone we met was super helpful and caring - from the front desk to the check in person to the anesthesiologist to all the nurses. The facility is state of the art and has a comfortable waiting area for family. There was only one thing that needs improvement - the transportation company they use for patients who require it could be better. Both the morning and afternoon drivers were late. Hopefully, they can find a better transportation company.

This place is ridiculous, patient relative is NOT WELCOME to wait in in the waiting area for their relative. You have to wait in your vehicle in the cold to pick up your relative after surgery. Trying to reach Administrator to file a complaint is "IMPOSSIBLE" . I was put on hold for over 10 minutes waiting for an administrator and I was told that she's not available for the day that either I can email her or leave her a voicemail. I asked to be transferred to her voicemail after which I was (not surprisingly) disconnected. If I have the choice I will never visit this place again, unfortunately my doctor is associate with this place. It's amazing how in today's world patient relation is of no consequence. I clearly understand the congestion, but at least one patient relative should be given the opportunity to wait in the waiting area for their love one. If there's an emergency what will happen if a relative have to drop the patient off and leave. I traveled 45 minutes from Jamaica to Long Island for my wife to do the surgery and I have to sit in my car in the cold waiting until the surgery is completed.

This center needs to appreciate the value of patient centered care. Not allowing family members in the waiting room is highly unacceptable. This center fails to realize the importance of a family member in providing accurate care and emotional support. Treating the patient and excluding family member is dangerous clinical practice. As a healthcare worker I have tremendous appreciation for family members and the data shows that patient have better outcomes with family support. Would never return here. Covid is not an excuse for vaccinated and masked patrons.

Island surgical Eye Center needs to review their policy of not letting family/companion stay in waiting room with their anxious clients. I have been a nurse for 25 years and can appreciate a clients pre-op jitters. A policy that requests proof of COVID vaccination and the wearing of a mask is sufficient while it calms the client to have a friendly face next to them and comforting words to keep blood pressure in a stable range. Perhaps having a separate waiting area for family/companion would be more appropriate. We were not told that I could not stay with my family member when instructions were given the prior day. I am not aware of any. COVID surge in Nassau County at this time. Several weeks ago I sat with my family member in the waiting room with a mask on. Why the change?

My elderly dad had cataract surgery yesterday morning. The staff was welcoming and patient with him from the moment we checked in to when his nurse took him to the back. I was unable to go and be with him during his procedure, but he was well taken care of according to my dad. His post op nurse, Brittany, was the most gentle and attentive with him. She patiently escorted and assisted my dad into my car, and on our ride back home, he couldn’t stop sharing how wonderful Brittany took care of him after his procedure. Definately a great first experience with them!

I was initially a bit anxious reading the negative reviews here. I had surgery here and it was all a smooth and positive experience for me. Staff were all very kind and professional. The policy is still in place about not having a family member in the waiting room but this wasn’t necessary for me, but I do understand this being a concern for others who need escorts. They are very diligent about being cautious for Covid, maybe this is the reason behind enforcing this policy

The worst, an absolute factory. Do NOT allow your loved one to have a procedure done here. They are not a patient, they are cattle, it is unbelieveable. I am currently sitting here waiting six hours and have not received one call from this facility. There is ZERO communication, not once, even though I was told 2 hours and they have a contact number. There is no excuse for this, everyone's time is valuable. Again, do yourself a favor and skip this factory.

I found the staff to be pleasant and fine. I was told to come in at 2:30. Thankfully, the waiting room was relatively empty especially during Covid. I was brought into the pre surgical area about 2:45 and just sat there for quite some time. Finally brought into surgical room and waited at least 45 minutes for the Doctor to come in The surgery took about 15 minutes. Now I really don’t have any complaints , but I think a better idea is to have greater coordination with surgeon so patients don’t have to sit around anxiously waiting Overall my experience was okay. About 3 hrs. long

Yesterday I had blepharoplasty surgery here. First off my nerves were off the charts. From the moment I walked in I felt a calm from all the staff. The nurses were nothing short of amazing. Explaining everything. The anesthesiologist was so calming . And what can I say about Dr Garabaldi. He’s the best ! Took his time. Explained everything and was also so soothing. I made the right choice with him and OCli.

My second time there! Everything is so organized, the staff and nurses so friendly and kind. It was such a positive experience for my second cataract surgery. In and out in a little over 2 hours. Highly recommend.

10/10 I was shaking in my boots when I arrived but was put at ease by the staff, everyone was so kind and sociable I tend to make jokes when I get nervous and they all entertained me and laughed along. However the pièce de résistance was that when I was in pre-op the topic of my favorite Taylor Swift album came up and when I was in recovery as I was the last patient, Alyssa I believe her name was had it playing for me. It was the simplest act of kindness that made such a difference. I was treated with the utmost care and compassion. I cannot express how wonderful my experience was, Thank you so much to everyone!!

I've been here for 2 procedures and was pleasantly surprised both times. They have a very professional staff that handles a pretty high volume of patients..Very nice looking facility with a great staff....everything else is secondary

I had both eyes done, cataracts, and was in and out in an hour for both. It is a little weird that at this point people can't wait in the waiting room but other than that inconvenience overall a positive experience.

I had my cornea transplant done here last week and it was simply a great experience. I did not feel like I was at a clinic, it felt more like a hotel resort. The staff was awfully nice and the nurses were more than comforting and just made the experience less stressful. I was called the day before told to be there by 10:30am, I arrived on time with parking valet as an option but they have parking for everyone. I was allowed to enter with 2 persons as long the waiting room was not packed, its really a very open waiting area with comfortable seating with seats empty for covid rules. I was checked in and registered and called in by 11:45am Surgery started at about 1:20pm, but I do not recall as I was already starting on the IV with meds. After surgery the nurses were very attentive and showed concerned, it really was a great experience it takes a lot of the anxiety away of being at a hospital. p.s. There is a Starbucks next door, literally walk over, for those coming with to wait.

I had macular hole surgery there last week. The staff was professional and courteous. I had no issue with my husband not being able to accompany me, whatever has to be done to keep everyone safe, disease and illness numbers down.

This place is absolutely horrible. First off, the waiting room temperature is 62°. when I asked if the heat was on, the receptionist said “I have no control over it“ very Snooty! I witnessed multiple people checking the status of their family member that was having surgery, they were told that they’ve been waiting for them to be pick up. And three separate people said they never got a call. They never got notification that the person they brought was waiting to be picked. If my mom didn’t jump the gun on this place for her cataract surgery, and I was actually given the opportunity to research it, I would’ve ran the other way. Stay far away from this place and find another facility. Oh, and I overheard some employees saying how they don’t have enough people working there and there was a lot of confusion behind the reception table.
