Horrible - Disgusting Service: over 25 minutes to get my simple carry out. The cook is so slow and can't multi-task. She checks the chicken by poking it with a fork not by time which I'm sure is why I received raw chicken. The Big Guy cashier was talking on his cell phone in an office while my order sat there on the counter for over 10 minutes. Food: Raw chicken The blood actually oozed onto bread All truth posted here Disgusting Never Again

Just Awesome place and the overall vibe! Food: super juicy yet crispy chicken with very flavorful crust! Served with a piece of white bread and if you get it as a meal, you get coleslaw and beans. Beans have a slight kick to them as well. The place has a very original old Detroit style feel with beautiful art on the walls. Made me feel like I’m somewhere exotic. I was served by Raven with a pleasant smile. The people in the kitchen were very playful as well. They serve love on a plate that touches your soul! My fav place for fried chicken in the area and they get solid five stars!

I tried calling in an order and was placed on hold for 10 mins and no one returned called back again and order taken right away. Weird. Chicken was over cooked and very tough. It was also a very dark brown (lack of changing oil). I paid nearly $70 for some absolutely terrible chicken!!!! The cashier not only handled my money but my food as well....so gross! The pieces were very small for the price. I had friends over that had a craving for fried chicken so we decided on Gus. Terrible mistake! Most of the chicken ended up in the trash!! We ended up ordering a pizza. Don't waste your time or money here!

Went here for my niece's birthday. It was pretty good, but I'm not sure I'd go back. Nothing really stood out to me about the chicken. The atmosphere was alright, but it could probably use some updating. That said, if you haven't been before and are passing by, it's worth checking out.

Excellent balance of savory and spicy chicken! I especially like their new sandwich. Nice low key place for either dine-in or takeout with great service. I've eaten hear many times over the past several years and it's been solid every time.

A nice interior, fantastically priced for the portions (read very fair). Of course the chicken is the main attraction and my gf and I adored it. Just the right amount of spice and kick. It's a truly great low-key restaurant that makes you feel satiated Note to all who complain about it not being 'perfect.' It's a soul food restaurant to help relax you after work. It's not the Golden Feather, it's a low-key restaurant. Don't come in expecting a 5 star meal. If you high standards, you should look in the mirror and see how you got to that point.

Literally the best fried chicken you're going to get anywhere the sides can be kind of small but everything here is tasty. I've eaten at this location many times now and the food is great everything's fried fresh you have to like spicy chicken or order the tenders if you want just a little heat.

Bruh, it's fire. First time trying it chicken is amazing and I recommend the beans. Not usually a beans guy but these were perfect, kinda spicy kinda sweet it was great. I was mad they forgot my hot sauce but once I ate realized I didn't need it.

I called in 2 orders of tenders. They said 20 minutes & it was ready on time. Chicken was hot and juicy but it tasted like salt. It was inedible. Threw away $35. The cole slaw and couple fries they gave us was good. But never again. They can keep that heart attack. This was the Westland location

I picked up an order here dashing last year and finally got around to trying it out. I picked the Mac and cheese and it’s fire! I wanted chicken too but have tooth pain so stuck to something soft. Maybe next time. Customer service could’ve been better.

Simple review of the Westland location: Fresh, hot, delicious, friendly and quick service, very clean establishment. Did I mention the food is delicious? See pics. Fried green tomatoes...(comes with a side of ranch-I added hot sauce to the ranch to spice things up.) yum!!! 4 piece dark w/baked beans and coleslaw. Sweet tea with lemon. All fresh, all delicious. It's become a place we visit at least 1 time per week. I've had the greens and Mac n cheese. Greens are delicious, Mac n cheese is average. Haven't tried the desserts yet.

I've been very pleased with the food here. Some find it a bit spicy but that's how I prefer my food. The establishment has an old mom and pop restaurant feel to it. Mismatch chairs, outdated interior and wobbling tables yet it's very clean. I've even been told they bring you food on paper plates though I've always gotten a carryout. Priced a tad bit more than other fried chicken joints but well worth it. I only get the mac-n-cheese and french fries for sides but I've been satisfied every time. The sweet potato pie as also good. Will be going back soon

Raven was the sweetest young lady to encounter. She made the experience wonderful. She was very friend, kind and helpful. The food was good. But I will definitely return because of Raven.

Stopped here today accidentally but once I got there was truly amazed. Had heard of Gus's chicken was thinking I was stopping at another establishment. Has a very nice atmosphere, small setting but very nice, friendly with a bar and the food, OMG that chicken when I say spicy and good.

My wife and I used to get Gus all the time until about 2 years ago when we moved somewhat far from westland. Recently we were in the area so we needed our fix and im not sure what changed but this is not the same Gus of years ago. The food lacked flavor and was very bland and the servers did the best they could but they only had a cook and the young lady at the cash register trying to cover the front and help the kitchen. Sad to see this place going down a bit. Pray it was just a rough night

I'm a picky eater and don't usually like fried chicken but decided to try Guss's. BEST fried chicken I've ever had. The seasoning is throughout the meat, not only in the breading, and the flavor was phenomenal. They forgot our bread but other than that, it was amazing.

The chicken is very good, sides could be better.

Service was okay, but the chicken was overcooked & fried in old oil. You can tell by the taste of the chicken & the skin were tough. I guess quality and love of cooking doesn't mean much to Gus!

Super friendly and helpful staff, and great food! Be sure to get the slaw and beans! We also loved our fried pickles. Not a great place to sit, visit, and have a meal, but a cool little spot. (The teenager in me loved the throwback jams, too!)

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Gus Famous Chicken, and I must say it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The food was absolutely amazing, and the service provided by my waitress Ashia was nothing short of exceptional. I can confidently say that Ashia is a superstar in the truest sense of the word. As someone who prefers white meat over dark meat, I was delighted when Ashia recommended the white meat plate. Her knowledge of the menu was impressive, and her suggestion turned out to be spot-on. It was evident that she truly understood her customers' preferences and went the extra mile to ensure a delightful dining experience. What made Ashia even more remarkable was the fact that she was not only our waitress but also the general manager of the restaurant. Despite her busy schedule, she managed to treat every guest like family, including myself. It was refreshing to see such genuine care and dedication from a manager, especially in an industry where personalized service has become increasingly rare. Ashia's multitasking skills were truly impressive; she single-handedly managed taking orders and cooking, all while providing attentive and friendly service. Her attention to detail was evident, as she even changed her gloves to maintain the highest standards of hygiene and food safety. It's these small gestures that set Gus Famous Chicken apart from the rest. I also appreciated the ambiance of the restaurant. The blues and other enjoyable music playing in the background created a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. It complemented the delicious food perfectly, making the entire dining experience even more enjoyable. In conclusion, I highly recommend Gus Famous Chicken to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. If you have the opportunity to visit, make sure to ask for Ashia. Her exceptional service, warm personality, and management skills make her a true asset to the restaurant. It's refreshing to see a manager who genuinely cares about their customers, and Ashia embodies that spirit wholeheartedly. Thank you, Gus Famous Chicken, for the fantastic food and an outstanding dining experience. I will definitely be returning soon!

Outstanding service. Jayden and Brittney treated us like family. The food was amazing. Exactly what I was expecting when I haven’t had Gus’s in over 3 years.

This food is amazing and full of flavor! The chicken had a little kick to it which I wasn’t expecting, but it was delicious and the chicken was super tender and juicy. The beans and mac n cheese were loaded with flavor as well, everything was really good! I would definitely recommend Gus’s Fried Chicken.

Care was put into every part of this meal. My sides of potato salad and beans were on point. The chicken was the main star and it impressed me. It has the spice to it and the breading did not fall off. If I got the same type of meal every time I came here I will have no problem using this place as my chicken go to.
