It
is
with
regret
that
I
must
detail
our
family's
recent
experience
at
the
Hilton
Metropole
in
London,
which
was
not
only
disappointing
but
distressingly
unsuitable
for
a
family
stay.
"Really,
Hilton?"
The
twin
rooms,
which
looked
appealing
in
photographs,
seem
to
have
not
been
updated
in
the
past
20
years,
making
the
hotel
a
poor
choice
for
any
guest
or
families.
Our
family
room
was
in
desperate
need
of
renovation;
the
furniture
was
falling
apart
with
drawers
askew
in
their
units,
and
one
almost
expected
to
pull
the
shower
rod
off
the
wall,
it
was
so
loosely
fixed.
We
were
also
dismayed
to
find
mold
around
the
bathtub
and
a
cracked
window
that
allowed
water
to
seep
onto
the
sill
and
damage
the
furniture
below.
The
entire
non-renovated
West
Wing
carried
a
musty
odor
masked
by
disinfectant.
Cleanliness
left
a
lot
to
be
desired.
It
was
evident
that
housekeeping
had
only
superficially
wiped
the
front
of
the
TV
stand,
leaving
dust
in
abundance
behind
it.
The
most
disturbing
was
the
presence
of
black
hairs
on
the
freshly
made
beds
and
sideboard
–
an
unwelcome
sight
that
topped
our
discomfort.
We
communicated
our
concerns
to
the
front
desk,
only
to
be
told
that
the
whole
wing
had
not
been
renovated
yet
and
that
family
rooms
were
only
located
there.
While
an
offer
to
view
another
similar
room
was
made,
it
hardly
seemed
a
solution
given
the
likelihood
of
encountering
the
same
issues.
We
adressed
the
issue
again
to
the
management
the
day
before
departure
and
they
tried
to
solve
the
situation.
Thank
you
for
taking
us
serious.
Charging
€300
per
night
under
these
conditions
feels
not
only
exorbitant
but
offensive,
and
I
feel
i
was
cheated.
Regarding
the
check-in
process,
as
a
Gold
member,
our
experience
was
notably
poor
too.
After
waiting
for
the
previous
guests
to
be
attended
to,
the
receptionist
left
without
a
word,
leaving
us
waiting
for
5
minutes,
only
to
return
and
assist
someone
else,
bypassing
us
without
explanation
or
apology.
The
Concierge
Service
and
baggage
storage
was
helpful
and
friendly.
Regrettably,
this
was
the
worst
experience
we've
ever
had
at
a
Hilton
property
and
certainly
our
last
in
London.
If
this
is
the
standard
for
a
4-star
Hilton
establishment,
it
is
alarmingly
inadequate.
