Awesome place, nothing like the big shopping mall AMC and Cinemark experiences I've had in the states. This quaint and beautiful theater adds a personal dimension to your moviegoing experience. I enjoyed my film with a nice hot chocolate and had a perfect night. Highly recommend.

I never knew this place existed. It's the ultimate historical cinema. It even has a 1920s organ for atmospherics.

Excellent independent cinema offering a diverse range of films in a luxurious setting for a fraction of the usual price (on Tuesdays at least) especially for being right in the centre of London. Lovely staff too!

Fabulous cinema. Right in the centre of London. Great sound, immaculately clean. Choose Tuesday special prices, Ā£6/Ā£8 or Ā£10. Highly recommend. If you don't use it you lose it!

This is a great venue and cinema located in the heart of central London on Regent Street. We came to see the National Theatre screening of Fleabag. Booked online and was great experience. The staff were very friendly, the seats were very comfortable, and the screen great too! I wish I had known the seating was so vertical (?) as I would have booked closer but still great viewing! They also have drinks, cocktails, beers, and snacks available. I would definitely visit again and highly recommend. Follow me on Google Maps for more reviews

A shame Iā€™m not sure what happened to this place ove the pandemic but it has become a complete different cinema. After a recent weekend visit I am incredibly disappointed in what has happened to this beautiful venue. As a place that once nurtured a community through a wide variety of art house programming, diverse film festivals and Q&As, The regent street cinema now feels just like any other multiplex cinema. The cinema once showed a selection of repertoire and indie films, such as the great films of Tarkovsky and Hitchcock, but now only seems to be showing general release films. You used to also be greeted at the entrance of the cinema by knowledgeable and friendly staff members. Now the lobby is left empty and instead you have to make your way through the venue to find disgruntled staff situated in a uninspiring bar. It also seems there has also been an influx of new staff since the pandemic, which have no knowledge of the history of the cinema or film in general, and only want to up-sell the limited and overpriced selection of snacks and beverages. The films themselves also seem to be shown incorrectly, with the side curtains cutting off substantial parts of projected image and the sound being almost unbearably loud. It is a real shame as the venue and interior decor of the venue is beautiful, but the atmosphere and management of the space is no longer resonant with the beauty of the venue. You are better off avoiding this venue and going to a proper art house cinema, like the Prince Charles, which is only around the corner. It is worth paying a visit for the decor.

A stunning cinema with a perfect sized screen and good sound. I found some of the clientele to be lacking in respectful and proper cinema etiquette. But really, what can you expect from people, post-pandemic in Central London? A growing mob of savages. I will say that some of the staff leave much to be desired for what should be a very straightforward experience. I found a couple of members of staff rather pretentious and accusatory - having already been asked to show my ticket at the entrance (totally normal, although the gentleman's attitude was more akin to a scary bouncer than a welcome party), I then headed to the toilet before grabbing a drink to sit down before the screening. On my way to the toilet, a rather sour gentleman (mid height, bald) moved towards me as if to stop me from entering the toilet area and asked me if I was a customer (fyi, at no point did I see anyone else receive that treatment from him for the 25 minutes I sat in the bar area.) Now, I understand why some businesses set this rule, but if their custom is to ask people at the entrance to present their tickets, then the logical assumption should be that once you reach the bar area you're considered a customer. I rarely have this experience, but I did feel slightly profiled - I got the distinct feeling that I didn't look as "presentable" as some of their older clients. I felt like a hobo trying to blag my way into some exclusive club, when really it's just a cinema with a W1 postcode. The gentleman who served me at the bar was fine, but kind of grumpy and defensive when I asked a few normal questions about their menu. Maybe you'd expect all of this behaviour at a ritzy club or Sotheby's. But guys, it's a cinema. It's supposed to be chill, fun, occasionally whimsical. Stop taking yourselves so seriously!

What an amazing find. A lovely bar with a cinema attached. ;). There is one large screen, just like in the old days but now you can stop off for a coffee, or something stronger as well

Wonderful small single screen cinema (first in the UK) with old decor but modern equipment, seating and sound showing modern, art house and classic films. Friendly, knowlegable stafd.

Simply a beautiful historic place (it is the very first cinema in the country) with a great selection of movies, a no fuss entrance, elegant architecture, beautiful screen and impressive sound quality. Perfectly located at the heart of London, just off Oxford Circus, ideal for cinema lovers looking for a more classic experience. And all that for a regular ticket price. What's not to love?

What is there to say. The first cinema in Britain. Looks old? Nice down to earth personnel who sold my friend and me on a new sort of popcorn. Incredible. The sound system is pristine, but the projector leaves me wanting... Good experience though.

Pleasant small cinema in London. One of the oldest in London still going for film showing. Beautiful original details from 1920s.

I love the single screen cinema, one of the oldest in London. A perfect viewing experience with comfortable seats and an unobstructed view. Lovely staff, and an option of three different ticket prices on a Tuesday.

Great quality venue which has clearly had a lot of thought and care put into making. The sessions idea works really well as each session starts from a fresh and gets to see it as intended. Cafe is prefect for adults too.

Although this one screen cinema has been around for a long time, it is still a very nice and comfortable place to visit for a movie. Very polite and friendly staff.

What a gem this cinema is, it's a bit like going back to cinema as it used to be and the staff were amazing, give it a try next time your west end bound...

A magical cinema, beautifully restored to its mid-1920s glory. Also, a key location in the history of British cinema. The exterior totally belies what you'll find inside.

Great cinema, really relaxed, none of the normal high pressure commercialism. A real oasis of calm in the crazy West-end, with wonderfully attentive staff. Bliss!

Lovely old school cinema with incredible history behind it..the birthplace of London cinema.. Often quiet for seating so almost guaranteed a great view of the screen. The decor is done so well, step back in time a little..Lovely staff here also...

I personally love this place. The location is great, and every time I have been there it's been for some cool event. And the room inside past the bar feels so 'good' old fashion! It's like a gem of history hidden in plain sight. Check out the events they have there, surely you will find something interesting!
